Nursing is critical in health care systems and comprises the planning, execution, and documentation of nursing care. To better manage health care information during patient care, the use of a mobile nursing information system (MNIS) provides more time to care for inpatients by reducing time-consuming and redundant paperwork. The purpose of this study was to extend the expectation-confirmation model and explore the roles of nursing professional competency (skill in use), habit (customary use), satisfaction (with use), and frequency of prior use in the context of MNIS continuance usage. We randomly chose 3 hospitals from among 14 hospitals in Taiwan that had indicated they used an MNIS. We conducted a field survey of nurses who had experience using the MNIS. We used a valid sample of 90 nurses to test the research model, using structural equation modeling with the partial least squares method. The results show that habit and frequency of prior use had a significant impact on MNIS continuance usage. Satisfaction and frequency of prior use had a significant impact on habit. Nurses’ professional competence is crucial to perceived usefulness and, thus, is relevant in the context of MNIS continuance usage. When habit weakens over time, the continuance intention predicts continuance usage. This study showed that the extended expectation-confirmation model effectively predicts nurses’ MNIS continuance usage and provides implications. Academics and practitioners should understand how nurses’ habits form and how they affect continued MNIS use. Understanding the antecedents of habits can help nursing managers identify and manipulate habit formation.

Considering an information system—Confucian user behavior perspective and employing an integrated expectation confirmation model (ECM) and information system success (ISS) model, this study introduces three latent variables: perceived trust, perceived enjoyment and perceived risk, and constructs a travel APP research model on continuance usage intention. By collecting data through questionnaires from Chinese travel APP tourists, the study uses Smart Partial Least Squares to construct the structural equation model. The results show significant positive/negative relationships between information quality(INQ), system quality(SYQ), service quality(SEQ)—expectation confirmation (EC); expectation confirmation (EC)—perceived usefulness (PU), perceived trust(PT), perceived enjoyment (PE)—satisfaction (SAT); perceived usefulness (PU), perceived trust(PT), perceived enjoyment (PE), perceived risk (PR)—satisfaction(SAT); perceived usefulness(PU), satisfaction(SAT)—continuance usage intention. This study expands the travel APP literature by developing and testing the integrated ECM–ISS model, and makes strategical suggestions to travel e-commerce enterprises considering Confucian values. The model can be improved by including Confucian values, expanding the surveyed population and assessing perceptual relationships and the continuance usage intention-actual behavior nexus.

AbstractWith the pervasiveness of mobile applications (apps), many Chinese libraries have begun to use apps to provide mobile services to users. Although many mobile library (m-library) apps have a high-downloaded rate in the App store, the rate of users continuing to use them remains extremely low, and the acceptance-discontinuance anomaly phenomenon (i.e., users discontinue using a m-library app after initially accepting it) is a common occurrence in China. This study develops an integrated model designed to explain and predict users’ continued usage of m-library apps based on the expectation confirmation model of information system continuance (ECM-ISC) and the theory of information system success, It incorporates habit, as a moderating variable of continuance intention and behaviour, into the model. Empirical data was collected from 396 users who had prior experience with m-library apps and was tested against the proposed research model using structural equation modelling. The results demonstrated that user perceived usefulness, expectation confirmation and satisfaction are important parts of the formation of m-library apps continuance usage. Furthermore, the three components of the information system success model, system quality, information quality and service quality, also have significant impacts on user confirmation and ultimately affect continuance usage. And the negative influence of habit on continuance intention and behaviour has been supported. The study will be useful for Chinese libraries to better understand users’ continuance usage behaviour and service demands, and in turn to optimize the function of apps and improve the quality of mobile services.

BACKGROUND With the rapid development of the internet, hospital public platform (HPP) has been designed for the use in top state-owned public hospitals since 2009 to provide patients with appointment registrations, test result inquiry, online payment, online consultation and other services. This study was conducted to measure continued adoption and to identify factors that influence patients’ continued adoption of HPP. OBJECTIVE This study was conducted to measure continued adoption and to identify factors that influence patients’ continued adoption of HPP. METHODS Expectancy Confirmation Theory (ECM-ISC) and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) was used to assess the users’ continued adoption of HPP. A questionnaire was distributed to patients in Beijing Friendship Hospital, which measured constructs, including perceived usefulness, expectation confirmation, satisfaction, continuance intention, subject norm, perceived behavior control and adoption behavior. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was performed to test the theoretical model. RESULTS The expectation confirmation significantly affected perceived usefulness, and satisfaction significantly affected continuance intention, while perceived usefulness had no significant effect on satisfaction and continuance intention. The subjective norm and perceived behavior control had significant influence on continuance intention. Perceived trust significantly affected satisfaction and continuance intention. The expectation confirmation had no significant impact on satisfaction, but it could affect satisfaction indirectly through perceived trust. Habit had a significant influence on adoption behavior and had a significant moderate effect between continuance intention and adoption behavior. CONCLUSIONS The findings of this study provide an applied guideline for the successful application of e-health systems in public hospitals in cities. It also creates an opportunity for e-health service providers to have a better understanding of their patients, which may have far-reaching and positive implications for China’s ongoing reforms.

The study explores the impacts of fear emotions on technology adoption by teachers and students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mobile learning (ML) has been considered an educational, social platform in private and public higher education institutes. Since several fears are connected with COVID-19, this study's key hypotheses are related to how COVID-19 influences Mobile Learning (ML) adoption. Educators, teachers, and students may face some common types of fear in the course of the coronavirus pandemic, such as fear of losing social relationships, fear of educational loss and failure, and fear because of the lockdown of the family in the prevailing circumstances. Different theoretical models, named Expectation-Confirmation Model (ECM) and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), are combined to develop an integrated model for this study. The proposed model was analyzed with the development of a questionnaire survey. The survey served as a data collection instrument to collect data from students of the University of Sharjah in Sharjah city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Three hundred twenty undergraduate students participated in the study. The collected data was evaluated using the partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The significant predictors revealed by experimental results included perceived fear, perceived ease of use, expectation confirmation, satisfaction, and perceived usefulness, explaining the intention to use the mobile learning platform. According to our study, teaching and learning can be benefitted to a great extent by the adoption of mobile learning (ML) during this pandemic for educational purposes; however, this process may be negatively affected by the fear of future educational results, fear of losing social relations and fear of stressful family situations. Therefore, appropriate student evaluation may be conducted to overcome the emotional distress caused by the pandemic effectively.

With the tremendous use of electronic devices, inhabitants create digital footsteps of their everyday lives, therefore, unlocked magnificent opportunities for the innovative companies to launch mobile payment system and offer value-added facilities. Mobile payment system has inaugurated a conspicuous phenomenon that can enable consumers to transform their mobile devices into a digital bank. Mobile payment has already proved its aids in the developed country market and projected to enjoy a cheerful prospect in the emerging market like Bangladesh. Moreover, a stream of research conducted in multiple countries regarding the domain of mobile payment, but a different scenario noticed in perspective of emerging country like Bangladesh as there hasn’t much yet. By giving importance on behavioral intention of consumer and specific characteristics of m-payments, this study aims to develop and test a research model by integrating usefulness and ease of use into the behavioral intentions. This study employed Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modeling to analyze database, which was composed of 328 samples. Results show that continuous usage intention is significantly affected by customer satisfaction. Perceived usefulness and ease of use are positively influence the continuance usage intention and satisfaction. The current study may extensively contribute to knowledge extension of two research streams-strategic management and service marketing-by implementing appropriate business model and service marketing strategies for m-payment users in Bangladesh and potentially other emerging markets.

PurposeThis study replicates and extends the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) to explain the drivers of future use intention of fitness apps among users. It extends existing theory by investigating continuance usage and adding health consciousness as a driver; an extension, which has implications for future studies on emerging technologies in the health care sector and beyond.Design/methodology/approachBuilding on the UTAUT2, the author built a path model of future app-use intention. A survey involving 591 respondents from the United Kingdom was conducted, and the data was analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling.FindingsThe results of this study confirm that five drivers explain future use intention, namely habit, perceived playfulness, health consciousness, perceived performance and price value. These findings have implications for sports marketing theory and practice, as well as for policymakers, in that health consciousness is important for fitness app adoption, which in turn has repercussions for entire health care systems.Originality/valueThis study makes two main contributions. It extends technology acceptance theory by using a sample of users to explain future use intention of fitness apps and adds the construct health consciousness as a nontechnological element of the continuance usage of fitness apps to the model. The result is a path model that confirms the importance of personal health consciousness and potential generalizability to future health industry technologies with further implications for sports marketing management theory and practice.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors affecting continuance usage of mobile payment. Design/methodology/approach – Based on the valid responses collected from a survey questionnaire, structural equation modeling (SEM) technology was employed to examine the research model. Findings – The results indicated that performance expectancy, trust in mobile payment and flow affect continuance usage. Among them, flow has a relatively larger effect. In addition, system quality has strong effects on performance expectancy and flow. Research limitations/implications – This research is conducted in China, where mobile internet is still in its early stage. Thus, the results need to be generalized to other countries that have developed mobile internet. Originality/value – Extant research has mainly focussed on the effects of instrumental beliefs such as perceived usefulness on mobile payment user behavior, and has seldom considered the effect of flow experience. This research tries to fill the gap.

PurposeThe research focuses on the impact of client vendor communication on client satisfaction in information system projects and after client satisfaction that will bridge them toward the information system continuance intention of clients. Importance of this study is to understand the effect of client-vendor communication on client satisfaction.Design/methodology/approachThe sample size of the study was 200 respondents and data was collected from electrical manufacturing industries. It is a quantitative field study, and the time horizon of this study is cross-sectional. The data collected was then analyzed by doing the structural equation modeling in PLS-SEM in order to examine the relationships.FindingsFindings of this study likewise demonstrate the mediating impact of client satisfaction between the relationship of client-vendor communication and information system continuance intention as well as between the relationship of expectation confirmation and information system continuance intention. Future studies may include the multi-motive information system continuance model (MISC) to explain the constructs in more depth because it includes different dimensions of expectation confirmation which will help more to understand information system continuance intention.Originality/valueThis study determines the role of information system continuance intention in terms of client-vendor communication and expectation confirmation through the impact of mediator client satisfaction. Previous studies have explained that client-vendor communication affects client satisfaction positively and confirmation also positively affects the client satisfaction. For this research study, the authors have identified the following research gaps. The authors also have found out that the following study is significant in a related study taken in the developed countries. On the contrary, the authors will follow the study and further observe the impact of improved risks in different cities of Pakistan that how client-vendor communication are affecting the success of information

Purpose The usage rate of mobile financial services (MFS) has shown an uptick since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh. This study aims to reveal the underpinning reasons for such MFS surge and its continuance by integrating health belief model (HBM) and expectation confirmation model (ECM).Design/methodology/approach The study analyzes 529 MFS users' responses during the second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak in Bangladesh using the partial least square method.Findings Satisfaction is more predictive than perceived usefulness in explaining continuance usage intention. Expectation confirmation also indirectly affects continuance intention. Among the HBM constructs, the indirect effect of perceived severity on continuance intention via perceived usefulness and satisfaction is significant. Besides, the impact of self-efficacy on continuance intention is also significant. Moreover, perceived credibility significantly affects satisfaction and indirectly affected continuance usage intention via satisfaction.Practical implications The study projects boosting customers' satisfaction is critical for the successful retention of existing MFS customers. MFS service providers should emphasize the factors that amplify satisfaction. They must evaluate preadoption factors so that customers can have positive confirmation. Especially, the service providers, the policymakers and the regulators should take an active role in improving the users' self-efficacy and the system's credibility. Undertaking the MFS literacy program, installing hotline service to provide emergency help will boost users' confidence in using the system.Originality/value The study is a unique contribution in the context of Bangladesh. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, no previous MFS studies in Bangladesh explored MFS continuance usage intention during COVID-19 and beyond. Besides, the inclusion of “perceived credibility” in the framework will supplement the earlier studies conducted on this aspect.

This paper is dedicated to the higher education institutions shifting towards distance learning processes due to the global pandemic situation caused by COVID-19 in 2020. The paper covers the pandemic situation in Poland generally, analyzing governmental ordinances and tracking the gradual extension of restrictions for educational institutions. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of Experience, Enjoyment, Computer Anxiety, and Self-Efficacy on students’ acceptance of shifting education to distance learning. The study tested and used the adapted General Extended Technology Acceptance Model for E-Learning (GETAMEL) in the context of coronavirus pandemic. The partial least squares method of structural equation modeling was employed to test the proposed research model. The study utilizes an online survey to obtain data from 1692 Polish undergraduate and graduate students in both full- and part-time study. The dataset was analyzed using SmartPLS 3 software. Results showed that the best predictor of student’s acceptance of shifting education to distance learning is Enjoyment, followed by Self-Efficacy. Both Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Usefulness predict student’s Attitude Towards Using and Intention to Use the distance learning. The findings improve understanding regarding the acceptance of distance learning and this work is therefore of particular interest to teachers and practitioners of education.
