Aims: The impact of indoor mould on employees’ long-term absence from sickness (more than 10 days of absence) is poorly understood. This paper examines whether self-reported mould was related to long-term absences from work between 1 and 3 years later. Methods: By using negative binomial modelling, we analysed a representative sample of the working-age population in Finland ( N = 16,084) from the Finnish Quality of Work Life Surveys in 1997, 2003, 2008 and 2013 combined with the register-based follow-up data of participants’ long-term sickness absences covering a period of 1 to 3 years after the Finnish Quality of Work Life Surveys was collected. Results: After all necessary background, work- and health-related factors were included in the model, employees who reported mould in their work had 1.20 higher rates of long-term sickness absence than those who did not report mould (mould: estimated marginal mean = 13.45 days; no mould: estimated marginal mean = 11.23). If employees perceived that mould caused strain, they had 1.30 higher rates of long-term absence than those who did not report such strain (mould caused strain: estimated marginal mean = 14.64 days; mould did not cause strain: estimated marginal mean = 11.25). In total, 10% ( N=1628) of employees reported mould in their workplace and 6% ( N=987) reported that mould caused strain. Conclusions: Supervisors, occupational physicians and other authorities need to take employees’ complaints of mould in the workplace seriously.

Therefore, this study aimed to identify the factors affecting the level of nurses’ QWL. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 115 registered female nurses who had survived cancer, in general hospitals and clinics in South Korea. SPSS statistics version 21 was used for ordinary least squares, and Stata version 12.0 was used for quantile regression analysis. Results: Workplace spirituality affected all quantiles of QWL except the 90% quantile; fatigue was an affecting factor in the 20%, 30%, and 70% quantiles; and job stress in the 20%, 30%, 40%, and 60%, 70%, 80% quantiles. For workplace spirituality, the effect size was 0.33 (p < 0.001) in the 10% quantile, increasing to 0.45 (p < 0.001) in the 80% quantile. Conclusions: Based on the results of this study, suggestions for clinical practice include providing the mediating strategies and programs to manage fatigue and job stress as well as workplace spirituality. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the antecedents of psychological empowerment on burnout in nurses who worked at the COVID-19 Hospital XYZ in Tangerang during the pandemic. This research is a quantitative research with survey. PLS-SEM was used to analyse empirical data obtained through simple random sampling. There were 80 samples collected and analysed through questionnaire that had been distributed online. The results showed that six of the eight variables of quality of work life, as well as psychological empowerment mediating variables, had a significant negative effect on burnout (t-statistic > 1.645). The direct influence on psychological empowerment was found to be the strongest from the opportunity to develop human capital and adequate and fair compensation (coefficient: 0.627 and 0.361). It was found that there was a negative impact of psychological empowerment on burnout (-0.756), thus the results of this study support the theory that the quality of work life can increase psychological empowerment among nurses, as well as show a new application to the psychological empowerment of nurses. This research model has moderate predictive accuracy and medium predictive relevance, so it can be developed in further research. There are managerial implications obtained from the findings of this study related to duration of work per week, work environment, granting of autonomy, as well as recommendations for future researchers regarding sample size and geographic coverage.
