Abstract: According to demands of curriculum 2013, assessment carried out on school should have led to increasing of higher order thinking skill. The lack of availability of questions are specifically designed to develop student’s higher order thinking skill causes students are not really proficient in solving higher order thinking skill questions. This study was research and development research purposing to determine development steps and quality of higher order thinking skill test instrument in one of high schools chemistry topic, i.e. colloid. The process of developing a higher order thinking skill test instrument used a formative research designed by Tessmer through 4 stages, namely: preliminary, self-evaluation, prototyping (expert reviews, one-to-one and small group) and field test. The data were obtained from the results of filling out validation sheets by expert reviews, questionnaires filled out by students, and test/trial of higher order thinking skill test instrument on students. The results of the development were categorically valid logically and empirically. The reliability of the test instrument was 0,65 with the high category. The item’s difficulty level was in the medium category. Six questions had good distinguishing power and one question had enough distinguishing power. The higher order thinking skill of students were in excellent, good, adequate, lacking and very poor categories respectively: 15,14%;  12,12%;  42,42%;  24,24%;  6,06%.

AbstrakPenelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang menghasilkan suatu produk berupa soal Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) berbentuk uraian untuk materi bangun ruang sisi datar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: (1) karakteristik soal yang dapat dikategorikan sebagai soal HOTS, dan (2) prosedur pengembangan kategori soal HOTS. Pemenuhan soal untuk dapat dikategoriakan sebagai soal HOTS dilihat dari karakteristik, indikator, dan langkah-langah penyusunan soal. Prosedur penelitian pengembangan ini dilaksanakan melalui beberapa tahapan yaitu tahap preliminary, self evaluation, prototyping (Validasi, Evaluasi, dan Revisi), dan uji coba lapangan (field test). Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini meliputi uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, analisis daya beda, dan uji taraf kesukaran butir tes. Berdasarkan validasi pakar dan uji coba instrumen ke siswa diperoleh hasil : (1) 8 dari 10 soal sudah memenuhi kategori valid, (2) reliabilitas soal memiliki nilai 0,60 yang menunjukkan bahwa reliabilitas soal tinggi. (3) 50% soal termasuk kategori sedang dan 50% soal termasuk kategori sukar, dan (4) indeks daya beda soal  dimana soal memiliki daya beda sangat baik. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa soal yang dikembangkan sudah baik dan memenuhi kategori soal HOTS, sehingga soal yang telah disusun dapat digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan siswa ketika mengerjakan soal-soal HOTS.Kata Kunci: HOTS,Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah, Bangun Ruang Sisi Datar. AbstractThis study is a development research which is intended to produce HOTS essay problems for solid geometry with plane surfaces. The purpose of this study is toknow : (1) the characteristics of problems which could be categorized as HOTS problems, and (2) procedures for developing the category of HOTS problems. The condition of problems in order to be categorized as HOTS problems can be viewed from the characteristics, indicators, and steps in developing the problems. The research was done through several stages, namely the preliminary stage, self evaluation, prototyping (Validation, Evaluation, and Revision), and field test. Data analysis techniques for this study consists of the validity test, reliability test, desriminating power analysis, and difficulty level of test items. Based on expert validation and field testing to students, the results are: (1) 8 of the 10 problems have met the valid category, (2) the reliability of the problems have a value of 0.60 indicating that the reliability of the problems is high. (3) 50% of the problems included in the medium category and 50% of the problems included in the difficult category, and (4) the index of descriminating power is different from the problems0.40 where the problems had a good descriminating power. These results indicate that the developed problems are good and fulfill the HOTS problem category, so that the problems that have been prepared can be used to measure students' abilities when they were working on HOTS problems.Keywords: HOTS, Problem Solving Ability, Solid Geometry with Plane Surface.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan soal matematika tipe Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) materi persamaan garis lurus yang valid dan praktis. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode design research tipe development studies dengan tahapan penelitian menggunakan alur formative evaluation. Tahapan formative evaluation terdiri dari preliminary design, self evaluation, expert review, one to one, small group, dan field test. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP. Data dikumpulkan dengan walk-through, tes, wawancara, dan angket. Penelitian menghasilkan soal matematika tipe HOTS materi persamaan garis lurus yang valid dan praktis. Kevalidan dilihat dari komen expert pada tahap expert review segi konten, konstruk, dan bahasa yang menunjukkan bahwa soal telah sesuai dengan materi dan kriteria soal HOTS, sedangkan kepraktisan dilihat dari keterpakaian soal pada tahap one to one, small group, dan field test bahwa soal dapat digunakan oleh siswa dan tidak menimbulkan penafsiran ganda atau tidak membingungkan siswa saat mengerjakan soal yang dikembangkan.

The purpose of this study is to produce a valid, practical and effective Junior High School Mathematics worksheet based on the metacognition approach to improve students' HOTS. This research is a development research using Plomp model with three stages, namely the preliminary investigation, prototyping stage, and assessment phase. The instruments used were questionnaires and tests. The results of this study is metacognition-based worksheet which is a) valid from the aspect of content, construct, language, and graphic, b) practical from the aspect of usage, time and readability, and c) effective from the aspect of improving the HOTS ability of students.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the theoretical quality of the subjects of Islamic Education class V SDS Budi Mulia is based on Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) based on aspects of material, construction, language and based on HOTS based on Bloom's Taxonomy of cognitive domains. This research was conducted at SDS Budi Mulia Medan Tanjung Mulia Hilir District Medan North Sumatra Province and the subject and object of research are Islamic Education teacher class V and Islamic Education questions in semester I Class V. The research method used is to use a qualitative approach and use the instrument of semester I Islamic Education questions and interviews with Islamic Education teachers to theoretically analyze the quality of items based on material, construction and language aspects and based on quality analysis of HOTS-based items. The results of the study of 35 multiple choice questions obtained the following results: (1) based on the analysis of the item quality aspects of the material feasibility of 91.42% (32 questions) worth using, there are some questions that do not meet the criteria such as material that is not in accordance with the composition, answer choices which is not homogeneous and logical and the existence of questions that do not have the answer key, (2) based on the analysis of the quality of the aspects of the construction feasibility of 88.57% (31 questions) are suitable to be used, there are some questions that do not meet the criteria such as the subject still gives clues to the answer key and the length of the choice of money answers are not the same, (3) based on the analysis of items about the aspect of language worthiness of 42.85% (20 questions) worth using, there are some questions that do not meet the criteria such as using language that is not in accordance with Indonesian language rules, and the choice of answers repeat the same word / group of words, and (4) Based on an analysis of the quality of items according to the Bloom domain's taxonomy cognitive can be concluded from 35 multiple choice questions obtained that there are 17 questions (48.6%) including the LOTS questions category with details C1 (remembering) = 8 questions (22.8%), C2 (understanding) = 3 questions (8 , 7%), C3 (applying) = 6 questions (17.1%). While the rest included in the HOTS questions category, however all of them were in the C4 criteria (Analysis) = 18 questions (51.4%) while none of the questions were in C5 and C6.

The study was aimed at producing a valid and reliable higher-order thinking skill (HOTS) test instrument using Lombok local cultures as contexts in the junior secondary school mathematics subject matter. The study is developmental research involving a field try-out of 75 students of Grade VIII. Data were analyzed using classical test theories of difficulty levels, discriminating powers, and functioning distractors. The test validity is assessed using the Aiken formula and reliability is estimated by Cronbach Alpha. Findings show that, of the 20 initial multiple-choice items, 15 were valid and reliable and had the characteristics of good test items with a medium-rated difficulty level average of 0.28, a good-rated discriminating power of 0.31), a good-rated reliability coefficient of 0.79, and all distractors well-functioning.

This study aimed to produce the Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS)’ questions of relation and function material that had validity and practicality and also had potential effect to support student’s creative thinking. This research was a descriptive research with design research method and development study type. The questions of relation and function material developed based on characteristics of Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) questions and followed stages of development study, such as: self evaluation, experts review, one-to-one, small group and field test. The subjects of this research were 38 students of eight grader from SMP Negeri 17 Palembang. They participated on one-to-one, small group and field test. Data collected using walkthroughs, interviews, questionnaires and tests. Validity of questions knew form experts review result based on content, construct and language. Practicality of questions knew from small group result about student’ understanding of purpose of questions and procedural of answering questions. Potential effect did known by test on field test stage. The result showed the HOTS’ questions of relation and function material truly supported student’s creative thinking.

Penelitian pengembangan ini dilakukan dengan 2 tahap utama yaitu preliminary dan formative evaluation. Tahap formative evaluation meliputi self evaluation, expert review, one-to-one, small group dan field test. Untuk mengetahui kevalidan perangkat soal HOTS dilihat dari hasil analisis lembar validasi pada tahap expert review. Kepraktisan soal diketahui dari hasil analisis angket respon siswa pada tahap small group. Sedangkan efek potensial soal berdasarkan hasil analisis kemampuan berpikir tingkat tiggi siswa pada tahap field test. Hasil pengembangan soal HOTS ini berupa perangkat soal yang terdiri dari kisi-kisi dan soal HOTS dengan 5 soal berbentuk uraian yang memenuhi kriteria valid dan praktis. Perangkat soal dinyatakan valid dengan rata-rata kriteria skor sebesar 89% dalam kategori sangat valid, dan dinyatakan praktis dengan kriteria skor sebesar 83% dalam kategori sangat praktis. Soal HOTS yang dikembangkan juga memiliki efek potensial yang baik terhadap kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa dengan skor rata-rata 15,6875 yang menunjukkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa dalam kategori baik

The purpose of this study was to develop a higher order thinking skill (HOTS) based test instrument on salt hydrolysis for senior high school students. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) using the Plomp model which consists of three stages, namely Preliminary Research, Prototyping Stage and Assessment Phase. The test instrument was validated by 7 experts, namely 4 chemistry lecturers of FMIPA UNP, and 3 chemistry teachers using a validation questionnaire. The small group trial was carried out by 6 students and the field test was carried out by 26 students of Senior High School number 1 in Padang. The data analysis technique for content validity uses Lawshe's CVR and the construct validity uses the aiken’s formula. The results showed that the instrument developed had good characteristics in terms of logical validity with a content validity index (CVI) of 0.841 and a construct validity of 0.82. The reliability coefficient of 0.89 is very high. The analysis of discriminating power showed 16 items had very good distinguishing quality, 4 items had good distinguishing quality, 4 items had moderate distinguishing quality. The difficulty index for 88% of the questions is categorized as medium. The correlation of the item score with a significant total score was 21 items. The dictator function on all items is effective. The data obtained shows that the test instrument based on higher order thinking skills (HOTS) on salt hydrolysis material for senior high school students is valid and has good item quality.

Critical thinking students can be improved by making questions in the test instrument categorized as Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS), because students are given HOTS category questions, it will train students in high-level problem-solving. This research develops a test instrument in the category of Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) based on Wondershare Quiz Creator because it can train students to use the development of Science and Technology. The purpose of this development research to developing a test instrument based on Wondershare Quiz Creator to know the completeness of student learning outcomes and the critical thinking of students. This research used Research and Development (R & D) type and the sample as many as 35 students of XII MIPA 4 in SMAN 1 Tanggul. This design research used Plomp and Nieveen’s development style. Product testing is carried out online using the test instrument software that has been developed. The test instrument developed was declared valid and could be used in learning, from 35 students, there are 5 students who have completed their learning outcomes, and there are 2students who have very high critical thinking skills. The success of students is inseparable from the role of the teacher in improving their competence by forming Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP). The quality of social studies learning needs to be measured by assessments oriented to Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Social studies combines the concepts of geography, sociology, economics, and history with the application of developing nationalism, strengthening national attitudes, and being able to work together in a plural society as citizens, citizens and world citizens. MGMP of Social Studies is expected to have the ability and skills to make questions and learning assessments oriented to Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) to improve the quality of assessment and is expected to improve the quality of graduate students.Keberhasilan peserta didik tidak lepas dari peran guru dalam meningkatkan kompetensinya dengan membentuk Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP). Kualitas pembelajaran IPS perlu diukur dengan penilaian yang berorientasi pada Keterampilan Berpikir Tingkat Tinggi atau Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS). Pembelajaran IPS memadukan konsep geografi, sosiologi, ekonomi, dan sejarah dengan penerapan mengembangkan nasionalisme, memperkokoh sikap kebangsaan, dan mampu bekerjasama dalam masyarakat majemuk selaku warga masyarakat, warga negara dan warga dunia. MGMP IPS diharapkan memiliki kemampuan dan keterampilan membuat soal serta penilaian pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) untuk meningkatkan kualitas penilaian dan diharapkan meningkatkan kualitas lulusan peserta didik.
