This study was aimed at investigating the link between personal resilience and academic achievement. This study used correlational research method. 613 students of English Education Program Study in one state Islamic university in Palembang, South Sumatera were chosen as the population. Purposive sampling was used as a sampling technique which took 157 students as the sample. Furthermore, this study had two variables: students’ personal resilience and students’ academic achievement. The students’ personal resilience score was taken from questionnaire, while the students’ academic achievement in English was taken from their GPA documentation. The data was checked by using One Sample Kolmogrorov Smirnov Test by using SPSS to check whether the data were normal or not and for linearity, the data was checked by using One Way ANOVA Statistic analysis. From the data analysis, the correlation coefficient or the r-obtained (.211) was higher than r-table (0.1557). It means that p (0.0168) was higher than 0.05. In other words, there was significant link between students’ personal resilience and academic achievement. It implied that academic achievement was not affected by personal resilience dominantly.

The objectives of this study were (1) to describe the students’ Reading habit, multiple intelligences, and writing mastery, (2) to find out whether or not there was significant correlation among the students’ Reading habit, multiple intelligences, and writing mastery, and (3) to find out whether or not the students’ Reading habit and multiple intelligences contributed to their writing mastery. In this study, 76 undergraduate EFL students of English Education Study Program of Sriwijaya University in the academic year 2017/2018 were chosen as a samples by means of purposive sampling. This study applied correlational research design. The data were collected by using questionnaires and test, and were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment correlation coefficient and regression analysis. The results showed that (1) most of the students (50%)  were in the average level of reading habit; most of the students (15.7%) had six dominant intelligences; most of the students (57.8%) were in the good level of writing mastery; (2) reading attitude was the only habit which had a negative and significant correlation to the students’ writing mastery (r= -271, p< 0.018); reading attitude also had positive and negative and significant correlation to the students’ ideas  (r= 0.367, p< 0.001) and thesis voice audience (r= -0.236, p=< 0.040); logical intelligence was the only intelligence which had negative and significant correlation to the students’ writing mastery (r= -0.238, p= 0.038); ideas was the only the aspect of writing had a positive  and significant correlation to the students’ logical intelligence (r= 0.267, p= 0.020) and intrapersonal intelligence (r= 0.250, p= 0.029); (3) reading attitude became the best predictor and influenced the students’ writing mastery with 7.3% contribution (R2 = 0.073).

This study aimed to find out the most dominant listening strategies used by the students and to determine the correlation between the use of listening strategies and their listening comprehension. The type of the research was quantitative with correlational design. This study used a population of the 4th semester students of English Education Study Program, University of Riau Kepulauan, in which the sample was selected by total sampling technique. Data were collected by using listening strategy questionnaire and listening test. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics (Mean and Standard Deviation) were used to find out the most dominant strategies to the ones that were rarely used by students in completing listening comprehension task. Second, to find out whether or not  there was a significant correlation between listening strategies used and listening skills, the data were analyzed by  using Pearson Correlation to determine the correlation between two variables, listening strategies and listening comprehension.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between classroom environment and academic achievement of English Education Study Program students of State Islamic University of Raden Fatah Palembang by conducting correlational research. 366 students of English majors of the second, fourth, and sixth semester took part in the study as the sample by using convenience sampling. The data of this study were collected by administering a questionnaire of College and University Classroom Environment Inventory (CUCEI) to assess classroom environment of the students and the students’ cumulative GPA was also used to get the students’ academic achievement score. Pearson Product Moment and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. From the analysis, it was found out that the r was 0.296 and it was higher than r-table (0.1059) and the level of probability (p) significance (sig.2-tailed) was 0.000. It means that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. This result showed that there was a significant correlation between classroom environment and the students’ academic achievement. Additionally, the regression analysis showed that classroom environment contributed only 8,8 % to the students’ academic achievement.

By using purposive sampling technique, there were 87 students involved as participants in this study. The data were gained by using two kinds of tests, reading speed test and reading comprehension test. Descriptive statistics, Pearson Product Moment Correlation was employed to analyze the data. From the data analyses, it was found that the correlation between EFL student teachers’ English reading speed attitude and their reading comprehension achievement did not exist. As the result, the second problem was eliminated. In short, reading speed did not have any relation to reading comprehension achievement.

The research question that was raised up of this research was do the lecturer competence influence students’ writing proficiency? This research aimed to investigate the influence of lecturer competence toward students’ writing proficiency. This research employed ex post facto method. The population was the fourth semester students who registered in academic year 2013/2014 for Writing III. There were 51 students were as sample of this research, selected using si.mple random sampling technique. The data collected using questionnaire and writing test. The data analyzed by applying descriptive and inferential statistics. The research found that the value of Fcount that was 3.608 at significance value was 0.035. It meant Fcount was greater than Ftable (3.608 > 2.57) and the value of significance was fewer than α (0.035 < 0.05). Those meant the regression model can predict the level of students’ writing proficiency which influenced by lecturer competence and the lecturer competence had positive and significant influence toward students’ writing proficiency at the English Education Study Program of Dayanu Ikhsanuddin University, Indonesia.
