This study aims to identify the utterances and to explore the language acquisition for 2.5 years old boy in its syntactical pattern.  The duration of this research is four months by observing and recording the words expression pronounced by the boy. Based on the finding, this boy firmly acquires the language mostly by nature (innate ability). However, the positive environment enables him to develop the child’s language fluency. Both nature and environment have important roles in the child language acquisition. It is in line with the theoretical frame work of language acquisition that in general language acquisition is shaped and influenced mainly by two factors: biological (innate ability) and environmental factors. Awhile the type of the utterances spoken by the boy aged 2.5 years old consisting of declarative 48 %, interrogative 29%, imperative 21%, and exclamation utterances 2%. In the syntactical pattern, the boy mostly speaks using the predicate utterances pattern (P), subject-predicate (S-P), then predicate-subject (P-S). The predicate (P) and subject-predicate (S-P) pattern of utterances are the most frequently spoken by boy. The boy is accustomed to and easily expresses his intentions with those two patterns that have represented a complete utterance according to what the boy intended.

All English departments provide the listening courses that must be studied by their students. In fact, the students often find difficulties in understanding the listening texts so that their listening comprehension becomes low. This condition also happens to the students of English department of UNHASY. One of the causes of it is the teaching strategy for listening which is not appropriate. Therefore, the researcher implemented frontloading strategy for teaching listening in this study. The purpose of this study was to know whether or not frontloading strategy influenced the students’ listening comprehension. The research method used was quasi experiment with the design of pretest posttest nonequivalent control group. The population and the sample of the research were the two classes of the second semester students of English education department of UNHASY in the academic year of 2018/2019. After the implementation of frontloading strategy in experimental class and direst listening in control class, the students’ post listening comprehensions were compared by using independent sample t-test whose result was that sig. (2-tailed) (0.004) was lower than 0.05. In short, it is concluded that frontloading strategy influences students’ listening comprehension.

This research aims to investigate the reading habit quality of EFL learners at Widya Kartika University, Surabaya and to find out the influence of reading habit towards students’ writing skill. This is a quantitative ex-post facto study since it examines how the independent variable (reading habit) that has existed affects the dependent variable (writing skill) and the result is in the form of numbers. Sixty two students of Widya Kartika University were selected as the subject of this study. The instruments used in this study were (1) a reading habit questionnaire, to measure the quality of students’ reading habit and (2) a writing test, to examine the students’ writing skill and how it is influenced by reading habit. The results showed that the students’ reading habit quality was fair. Meanwhile, the analysis of Simple Linear Regression concluded that reading habit influences students’ writing skill.  Moreover, one of the writing components that was mostly influenced by the reading habit was the content.

The objective of the study was to find out whether significant effect of watching English movie to improve students’ listening skill at SMAN 16 Batam in academic 2019/2020. The researcher used quantitative method and focused on quasi experimental. The population in this research is all of tenth grade students that consisted of 400 students that selected by  using simple random sampling technique. The subject of the study was grade X social 1 and X4. The researcher conducted research in two classes as experimental class and control class. The researcher use quantitative data by giving pre-test and post-test measure the students’ listening skill. The result of the calculating t-test was tcount > ttable (3,269 > 1,990). It means that Null hypothesis was rejected and alternative hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, in this research was a significant effect of watching English movie to improve students’ listening skill at tenth grade of SMAN 16 Batam. Moreover, watching English movie was gave positive effect to improve students’ listening skill. Watching English movie could motivate the students and interested in learning listening skill. Therefore, the English teacher could carry out the watching English movie to improve students’ listening skill.

In order to get the aims of this research is all of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan in the period of 2018 / 2019. The sample is taken from the population by random sampling consists of 44 students. This study is carried on by using descriptive method. Furthermore, the instrument is used for collecting the data by giving test to the students. After the data is gotten from the field of the research, the data will be analyzed by descriptive and statistic analysis, by using the formulation “ r “ Product Moment. It can be concluded that the simple past tense of students is categorized “ enough “ ( 64,09 ) and narrative text of students is categorized “ good “ ( 71,13 ). After the data had been gained from the field of the research, the data was analyzed, the writer got rxy = 0,957 and rtable is 0,304 at the 5 % significant level, rxy is greater then rtable. The population was tenth grade students of SMK Hang Nadim in academic year 2018/2019, consisted of 104 students. Then, cluster random sampling was used to determine the sample from the population. Data were gathered from reading test and study anxiety questionnaire. After analyzing the data by using pearson product moment correlation, it found out that  rxy < rtable = 0,019 < 0,396. Hence, it can be concluded that Ho was accepted and Ha was rejected. Thus, based on the result, it can be concluded that there is no significant correlation between students’ study anxiety and students' reading comprehension.

The reason why the writers conducted the research is to know the correlations among reading attitude, and motivation of urban students, and parental involvement towards their reading comprehension achievement of four private polytechnics in Palembang 2018/2019. In conducting the research, the writers used the method of quantitative-correlation. The sample was 99 students and the random sampling method was used.  All the data were analyzed with Multiple Regression. The instrument to collect data in this research is the reading comprehension test comprising 40 questions in terms of multiple choices. The results show that (1) reading attitude has a positive influence towards reading comprehension achievement in which t1= 2.596, p-value = 0.011/2 = 0.0055 < 0.05, (2) reading motivation has a positive influence towards reading comprehension achievement in which t2= 4.658, p-value = 0.000/2 = 0 < 0.05, (3) parental involvement significantly influences students’ reading comprehension achievement in which t3= 6.21, p-value = 0.000/2 = 0 < 0.05, and (4) FCal is 31.189, p-value = 0.000 < 0.05 which imply that students’ reading attitude, students’ reading motivation, and parental involvement positively affect students’ reading comprehension achievement.
