Ticks of the genus Otodectes are often found in domestic animals. This disease has an all-season character in urban conditions. Since the transmission of the tick occurs by contact with an animal infected with otodectosis, it was recom-mended to exclude contact with strays and animals that have characteristic clinical signs in order to prevent the spread of this disease. Timely diagnosis and adequate therapy make it possible to identify and suppress the further development of this tick in animals in a short time. This paper presents the results of a study on the diagnosis and treatment of otodectosis in cats in the city of Irkutsk.

The article describes a clinical case of successful diagnosis and treatment of the most severe, in terms of consequences, the forms of this disease – cerebral toxocarosis. Timely diagnosis of pathology includes cerebral MRI and immunological studies of blood serum for the presence of antitoxocarosis antibodies. Albendazole – a broad-spectrum antihelminthic drug has proven to be highly effective in the therapy of this pathology. Proper diagnosis and, as a result, adequate therapy are the guarantors of a favorable outcome in this form of the disease. Keywords: Toxocarosis, brain, diagnostics, treatment, albendazole

Tetanus is an infectious disease caused by the toxin of Clostridium tetani, a gram-positive anaerobic bacterium that affect domestic animals and humans. On February 17, 2019, veterinary medical care was requested at a property located in the city of Jataí, Goiás to attend the case of an undefined breed male horse of approximately 15 years of age, chestnut hair, weighing 400 kg. During the consultation, the main complaint was lameness and prolapse of third eyelid. At the clinical examination, the animal showed spasticity, rigid walking, distant hind limbs, third eyelid prolapse, hyperesthesia, extended neck, tail away from the body, mild dyspnea, intense sweating, distended nostrils and erect and immobile ears. Based on the physical examination of the animal, as well as the clinical signs presented, the final diagnosis of tetanus was established and therefore, the treatment was immediately instituted with intravenous anti-tetanus serum and antibiotic therapy. Hence, this paper aims to report a case of tetanus in equine, elucidating the main clinical signs and implemented treatment.

ABSTRACT: Iatrogenic intoxications occur in domestic animals. Mortality was observed in a group of calves, reaching 20 deaths until the day of the technical visit, with or without sudden clinical signs, on a farm in the city of Pires do Rio, State of Goiás, Brazil. Deaths after the visit were not accounted systematically. Clinical signs included muscle weakness, ataxia, recumbency, bilateral jugular distention, and death. Suspected diagnosis of poisoning by ionophore antibiotics was made based on clinical and laboratory findings from nine animals, which included high plasma CK and LDH levels, as well as on anatomopathological findings of a recently dead calf, which showed myocardial and skeletal muscle degeneration and necrosis. Monensin overdose (25.5 µg/kg in skeletal muscle and 209.4 µg/kg in the liver) was detected by liquid-chromatography and mass-spectrophotometry analysis, contributing to the confirmation of ionophore poisoning diagnosis.

Thanks to the approaches of precision medicine, great strides have been made in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes mellitus, taking into account the individual characteristics of each patient or subgroups for monogenic subtypes of diabetes and newborn diabetes. For monogenic diabetes, molecular genetics can identify discrete etiological subtypes, the manifestation of which has profound implications for treatment, and predict the further development of concomitant clinical signs that allow early prophylaxis or supportive therapy. In contrast, second-type diabetes mellitus has a polygenic nature, which makes it difficult to define discrete clinical subtypes. The implementation of the approaches of precision medicine in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes mellitus will allow a targeted selection of drug therapy. This review shows the successful use of precision medicine in monogenic diabetes and the possibilities of this approach to solving problems in diabetes of the second type.

The purpose of our work is to assess the health state of woody plants growing in different habitats of the city of Aktobe. We have studied the health state of arboreal and shrubby plants growing in various urban habitats; the survey was conducted during 2016-2017 by route-visual method. We performed the analysis of species diversity, abundance and density in urban area. The assessment of health state of the trees was made according to V.A. Alekseev. From your data and literature review we established that such species as Ulmus pinnato-ramosa, Acer negundo, Populus tremula, Populus nigra, and Syringa vulgaris have strong winter resistnce in the territory of Aktobe; we registered that only their apex buds and emds of the shoots were frozen in severe winters. The medium-resistant speices include Ulmus laevis and Acer platonoides. They are less plastic and suffer from late spring and early autumn frosts. The Amorpha fruticosa, Vitis vinifera, and Parthenocissus guinguefolia could be considered as the non-resistant species, since they usually freeze up to the snow cover line. The analysis of the vital state made it possible to assess the resistance to urban conditions of the majority of trees and shrubs registered in urban habitats of Aktobe. According to the preliminary data, the origin of the plant and its winter resistance are of main importance when introducing new species to urban area.

The article represents a retrospective review of long time research of genesis and development of the Central beach in the City of Varna which makes possible a forecast of its further development. Both natural and anthropogenic impact on the beach evolution is taken into consideration. It is ascertained that construction of coastal protection structures at the northern part of the beach in 80’s resulted in cessation of natural beach area growth. The strengthen of a breakwater in the main port and illegal building also contributed to considerable coast recession and beach volume reducing. Because of this a recreational potential of the Central beach is gradually decreasing. New method named “cross-shore sediment bypassing” is suggested to reduce the negative trend.
