In a series of complex study of multicomponent or polypredicative complex sentences, it is relevant to consider them as a microtext. In the text study discussion issues still exist: the number and composition of categories, the means of their expression, the difference between the concepts of “textual characteristic” and “text-forming function”. Based on the material of multicomponent complex sentences, we consider universal text categories inherent in any text, and optional, inherent only to certain types of text. The principal categories of the text, such as cohesion, coherence, integrity, consistency, continuum are realized even within the limits of a microtext-sentence. The analysis of multicomponent structures is carried out in a triune way: taking into ac-count the relation of their form, meaning and function. We show that the sequence of homogene-ous subordinate clauses is determined by their content and the communicative task of the state-ment. In this regard, as the utterance unfolds from one subordinate clause to another, either the concretization of the meaning of conditionality or its intensification is revealed. On the other hand, the connection to the subordinate clauses of constructive conjunctions and lexical actualizers contributes to the expression of the category of informativeness, which implies the reflection in the text of the degree of novelty or significance of information. On the example of contaminated structures with various types of communication (compositional, subordinate, non-union), various methods and techniques are described as tectonic means of text formation. Thus, we conclude that a multicomponent complex sentence, which is a transitional structure from a complex sentence to a text, makes it possible to study the interaction of lexical and syntactic means in the formation of the meaning and implementation of the author’s communicative intention.

The object of the analysis is complex sentences including two or more subordinate clauses with the meaning of condition, cause, purpose, concession, which in general constitute the category of conditionality. Multicomponent sentences expressing the close interconnection of these relations represent a microtext, making it possible to study various textual characteristics. The analysis is based on the multicomponent complex sentences built according to models of sequential subordination and parallel models, and is devoted to their textual characteristics. The latter include both universal text categories inherent in any text, and optional, inherent only in certain types of text. It is shown how the main text categories such as cohesion, processuality, integrity, continuum are realized within the microtext-sentence. The interrelation of the structure of multicomponent complex sentences, their content and the communicative task of the statement is emphasized. On the example of contaminated structures with various types of connection (compositional, subordinate, asyndetic), it is shown that the combination of multiple methods and techniques constitutes tectonic means of text formation. It is confirmed that in the structural-semantic context, the main nominative and communicative units of the language system, a word and a sentence, acquire meaning increments and turn into “text words” and “text sentences”. It is concluded that multicomponent complex sentences with subordinate clauses are microtext with more or less integral meaning. The combination of various types of syntactic link, various types of inclusions, repetition, parallelism, providing a clear structural form of complex constructions, on the one hand, are means of dispersing meanings, and on the other hand, they unite separate structural and semantic components of the statement into a single whole, creating the basis of text-forming relations.

The purpose of the article is to identify and describe structural, semantic and functional features of irreal-conditional complex sentences with the conjunction «если» (if) in the autobiographical Tale of Life by K. G. Paustovsky. In the introduction, the author notes the important role of syntactic units in expressing the author's intention in autobiographical text, and points out the constant scientific interest in studying the functioning of complex subordinate sentences with conditional meaning in texts of different styles in both synchronic and diachronic aspects. The main part of the article defines the irreal condition and notes that a formal indicator of its semantics in a complex sentence is the presence of the form with the particle «бы» (would) in the main and subordinate clauses. Attention is drawn to the complication of the irreal condition meaning with various connotations: desirability, supposition, possibility, concession, comparison, as well as a phatic aspect. Each structural-semantic type of sentences is analyzed in terms of specific semantics, structure, ways of expressing the main sentence parts, and lexical content. The author names the means of strengthening the semantics of the irreal condition, including particles, interjections, exclamatory intonation, etc. The conclusion is made that the use of sentences of this type in an autobiographical text, on the one hand, allows the author to convey the message of the work as accurately as possible, to express his perception of events and the characters' thoughts and intentions. On the other hand, the use of sentences with the conjunction «если» (if) with the meaning of irreal condition, with different semantic connotations, shows the capacity of the modern Russian grammar system, which allows the speaker or writer to convey the finest shades of meaning in portraying objective reality.

This article discusses the meaning and function of the act of measuring ancient Egyptian architecture in the present-day context, in which the advent of digital culture has allowed the accumulation of extremely precise and accurate data. Our expectations on our modern measurements may lead us to select the ancient data through a filter that does not correspond to the ancient perspective, thus affecting the validity of the results. In order to disentangle past and current perspectives, it may be useful to discuss two aspects: the difference between ancient measures obtained from calculations and observations, and the meaning of precision and accuracy in modern and ancient times. A reconstruction of the planning and building process of ancient monuments is likely to take a successful path only if we are willing to look at the evidence from a slightly different perspective, in which numbers become part of a larger and more complex operation.

The purpose of this study is to construct an automatic syntactic analysis (ASA) and, as a result, to compile a dictionary of models of multicomponent complex sentences for studying the fectures of the linear structure of Ukrainian text. The process includes two-stages: the first stage is an automatic syntactic analysis of the hierarchical type which results in building of a dependency tree (DT), in the second stage, the sentence structure information is automatically extracted from the obtained graph. ASA is a package of operations performed with a string of morphological information (the result of AMA work) representing the incoming text for determination of syntactic relations between text units. The outgoing text for the ACA is a string of information reduced after the AMA to wordforms. We have studied features of the linear structure of 2000 Ukrainian language sentences in journalistic genre (selection of 52000 words use). Based on the obtained results, we have constructed the real models of the syntactic structure of sentences, in which the relations between simple clauses were presented. All grammatical situations of the linear context were possible manifestations of models in the text. Based on that data, the algorithm for the automatic generation of a complex sentence model was created. These models are linear syntax grammar. All types of syntactic connection between the main and subordinate clauses are recorded algorithmically. Thus, it is possible to build the interpretations of the linear structure of the Ukrainian language sentence almost not using lexical-semantic information. The theoretical value of the paper is in extension of our knowledge about the structure of the syntactic level of the language and the variety of mechanisms functioning at that level. The applied value, is first of all, in creation of the dictionary of compatibility of compound (coordinated) and complex (subordinated) sentences, and in the possibility of constructing requests to the Ukrainian language Corpus in order to mine from the text definite models sentences, creating own dictionaries of authors and styles.

The tradition of Qashidah Burdah reading againsts sick people carried out at the East Sera village is different from the other regions. The difference is the aim of the practice which is more specific and focus to cure disease. It indicates that the tradition of Qashidah Burdah reading carried out at the East Sera village has meaning and function specifications which can not be found in other areas. East Sera society interpret Qashidah Burdah tradition as an alternatif treatment media implemented when the other media treatments (medical and shaman) are not able to cure. In addition, the tradition of Qashidah Burdah reading againsts sick person also has several functions; namely socio-economic function (this media treatment is much cheaper than the others); socio-religious function (it can strengthen monotheism, fortitude and resignation to Allah), and socio-cultural function as a medium for preserving helpfulness attitude, familiarity, and social solidarity. The existence of those functions – both latent and manifest – becomes the reason of why the tradition of Qashidah Burdah reading againsts sick people still continues to be preserved by the people of East Sera.

The purpose of this study is to understand and identify the composition of Rejang Pedawa dance attire and the meaning and function of Rejang Pedawa dance outfit. Rejang Pedawa dance fashion is the same as Rejang dance clothing in general but the difference is at the top that uses ungar and sekar spurs made from pelendo that take the form of flowers and tails of peacocks, and the use of traditional Balinese cloth in almost all of the Pedawa rejang clothing. From the functions and meanings it can be concluded that the Rejang Pedawa dance takes a beautiful form because it is indeed the function of the Rejang Pedawa dance to entertain Bhatara Bhatari who is led to descend to Earth during the Pujawali Saba Pedawa Village ceremony. The meaning of Rejang Pedawa's clothing still maintains the fashion that they received from their ancestral heritage. Traditional dance prioritizes a sense of devotion, so it does not take into account too much of the clothing worn.

Words combine to form larger units; phrases, clauses, and sentences. The study of the structure of phrases, clauses, and sentences is referred to as syntax. Quirk, et, all (1985:47) distinguishes sentences into two types they are; simple sentences and multiple sentences which cover compound sentences and complex sentences. A simple sentence consists of one independent clause, a multiple clause contains more than one clauses, a compound sentence consists of two or more independent clauses, while a complex sentence consists of insubordinate and subordinate clauses.Subordinate clause, in embedding the element of the insubordinate clause use either complementiser or relativiser. For example: (1) john said that he did not come to the party. That in (1) is considered to be complimentiser since it introduces the subordinate clause. (2) John met the teacher that teaches you English. That in (2) is classified as relativiser because it is used to introduce the modifying clause. This paper attempts to discuss complementiser and relativiser in the English subordinate clauses and describe the constituent structure in a tree diagram using the approach proposed by Kroeger (2005). The data were taken from a novel entitled Saved by The Bride by Fiona Lowe (2013).Keywords: complex sentences, subordinate clauses, complementiser or relativiser

The Institute of Hungarian Literary and Cultural Studies at the University of Debrecen formed a research group in 2010 in order to launch the research of Hungarian realms of memory. This paper was written within the frameworks of the research group. Its basic hypothesis is that the identification of Hungary as the Bastion of Christendom is an established part of Hungarian collective memory. This paper attempts to demonstrate the changes of this realm of memory, regarding its meaning and function, from its formation up to the present day.

Speaking is one of the activities conducted by human everyday. In speaking, the sentences can be simple sentences and even complex sentences. Sometimes, in speaking the words and phrases are used to fill a syntactic position without having a meaning or referent. It is called expletive. The research analyzes the form and function of expletive in utterances of kubang society. The data were collected through interviews and recording technique and the theory used from Azar and Manser. The data were presented in written form. The research shows that there are fiften expletive words used by Kubang society in conversation. Expletive often appears in adverb. Though, it is only a filler, expletive words are often used by Kubang society.
