Abstrak— Saat ini Jurusan Teknik Informatika Universitas ’X’ mewajibkan mahasiswa yang telah selesai tugas akhir untuk mengumpulkan hasil karya mereka dalam bentuk softcopy (CD) yang berisi program aplikasi dan dokumentasi, serta hardcopy (dalam bentuk buku laporan dan jurnal). Karya tersebut disimpan di perpustakaan secara fisik dan beberapa data disimpan di Digital Library Universitas ’X’. Namun keterbatasan sistem yang ada saat ini menyebabkan kesulitan pencarian hasil karya tugas akhir, karena teknik/metode yang digunakan untuk melakukan pencarian dibuat dalam bentuk query sederhana dengan kriteria yang masih terbatas, tanpa pengurutan dengan peringkat. Selain itu, kepala lab di jurusan juga menemui kesulitan dalam melakukan pemetaan bidang keahlian dari tugas akhir yang dikerjakan oleh mahasiswa di masing-masing lab. Berbagai permasalahan tersebut melatarbelakangi penelitian ini, sehingga diperlukan adanya sistem yang dapat membantu jurusan dalam menyimpan hasil karya tugas akhir mahasiswa, mempermudah pencarian, serta menampilkannya. Pencarian tugas akhir pada penelitian ini berdasarkan query yang diinput oleh pengguna menggunakan metode pencarian fungsi Okapi BM25. Dengan fungsi peringkat Okapi BM25 maka hasil karya dapat ditampilkan dengan urutan peringkat sesuai relevansinya.Kata Kunci— repositori, tugas akhir, Okapi, BM25Abstract— Every student in Department of Informatics University 'X' who has completed final project must submit their work in both softcopy (CD) – which containing the documentation and application software – and hardcopy, containing final project documentation and journal report. Currently students hardcopies are stored physically in the university library and some information are stored in the Digital Library System of University 'X'. But there are some difficulties of finding those information in the current system. The system only use simple query method with very limited criteria. The query results are being displayed by the system without any ranking method. In addition, Kalab (lab manager in the department) also encountered difficulties in mapping expertise areas of students final project in their lab. The purpose of this research aims to build a repository system to help the department to store students final project results, also makes it easy to search, display, and being managed. The system also clusters, ranks and displays a set of students final project documents according to some given queries using Okapi BM25 function.Keywords— repository, final project, Okapi, BM25

The University of Florida (UF) George A. Smathers Libraries have been involved in a wide range of partnered digital collection projects throughout the years with a focus on collaborating with institutions across the Caribbean region. One of the countries that we have a number of digitization projects within is Cuba. One of these partnerships is with the library of the Temple Beth Shalom (Gran Sinagoga Bet Shalom) in Havana, Cuba. As part of this partnership, we have sent personnel over to Cuba to do onsite scanning and digitization of selected materials found within the institution. The digitized content from this project was brought back to UF and loaded into our University of Florida Digital Collections (UFDC) system. Because internet availability and low bandwidth are issues in Cuba, the Synagogue’s ability to access the full-text digitized content residing on UFDC was an issue. The Synagogue also did not have a local digital library system to load the newly digitized content. To respond to this need we focused on providing a minimalist technology solution that was highly portable to meet their desire to conduct full-text searches within their library on their digitized content. This article will explore the solution that was developed using a USB flash drive loaded with a PortableApps version of Zotero loaded with multilingual OCR’s documents.

Discusses Digital Humanities and informational literacy. Highlights the evolution of the Web, the digital library and its connections with Digital Humanities. Reflects on the challenges of the Digital Humanities transdisciplinarity and its connections with the Information Science. Digital library is a collection of electronic objects. Information retrieval is a part of digital library system. Digital library can be developed through open source software and tools. Institutional digital repository is also an important field in present and next generation automated and digital library system. Now, this paper is present how to import metadata formats from different database by EPrints for the development of institutional digital repository. There are different types of metadata formats available in open source environment but this paper is shows some high and matured level software for development and designing this integrated framework. However, in this section has a show how to data import from Koha, Emerald, D-Space, and Vu-Find for the better management of digital information services among the users as well as library professionals.

PurposeHigher education and universities have faced unprecedented and ubiquitous changes. The University of Tehran or “UT,” as the leading university in Iran, is not immune to these changes. The purposes of this study is to investigate the current situation and future of the UT and gain insights and possible responses to changes that suit its strengths and potential to progress in an increasingly competitive, complex environment with uncertainties. It identifies deep fundamental underpinnings of the issue and highlights them for policymakers to formulate strategies and future vision of the UT.Design/methodology/approachCausal layered analysis (CLA) was applied as a framework and the data collected from different sources such as literature reviews, content analysis of rules, regulations and master plans of the university and coded interviews of four different groups of university stakeholders were analyzed. The current system of UT, as well as hidden beliefs, that maintains traditional perceptions about university was mapped. Next, by applying a new recursive process and reverse CLA order, new CLA layers extracted through an expert panel, the layers of CLA based on new metaphors to envision future of UT were backcasted.FindingsThe results from CLA layers including litany, system, worldview and metaphor about the current statue of UT show disinterest and inertia against changes, conservative, behind the times and traditional perceptions, and indicate that the UT system is mismatched to the needs of society and stakeholders in the future. The authors articulated alternative perspectives deconstructed from other worldviews so there are new narratives that reframe the issues at hand. The results show that to survive in this fast-paced revolution and competition in higher education, UT should develop scenarios and formulate new strategies.Research limitations/implicationsThe authors had limited access to a wide range of stakeholders. As the UT is a very big university with so many faculties and departments, to access a pool of experts and top policymakers who were so busy and did not have time to interview inside and outside of university was very hard for the research team. The authors also had limitation to access the internal enactments and decisions of the trustee board of the UT and the financial balance sheets of the university.Originality/valueIn this paper, by mixing different methods of futures studies, the authors have shown how to move forward while understanding the perspectives of stakeholders about the future of UT by a new recursive process and reverse CLA order. A supplementary phase was added to improve CLA and to validate the method and results, which were ignored in previous studies.

The University of Nevada Las Vegas Libraries engaged in three projects that helped identify areas of its website that had inhibited discovery of services and resources. These projects also helped generate staff interest in the Usability Working Group, which led these endeavors. The first project studied student responses to the site. The second focused on a usability test with the Libraries’ peer research coaches and resulted in a presentation of those findings to the Libraries staff. The final project involved a specialized test, the results of which also were presented to staff. All three of these projects led to improvements to the website and will inform a larger redesign.

Background Lund University Library purchased and implemented a new discovery system in the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012. Historically there has been no collaboration between the digital library unit and the pedagogical unit at the University Library. The conditions for the implementation were quite difficult; an extremely tight time frame, changes of the member of staff, high demands from the library network, a bad relation with current system supplier, a dependency of the current system and its functionalities. What to do? In order to reach trustworthiness and to make sure that we have a learning perspective in all the processes we initiated a close collaboration between the digital unit and the pedagogical unit and formed an implementation group. We also initiated a close and active collaboration between the implementation group and an expert group formed by members from the faculty libraries i.e. the super user group. Activities We had four workshops about pedagogical issues regarding discovery systems. The workshops turned out to be a forum for a dialogue between the digital library, the pedagogical unit and the teacher librarians. They resulted in an action plan which was integrated in the implementation process. We also invited colleagues to informal discussions about the pedagogical use of the discovery system. We encouraged all teaching librarians to share their educational materials on our intranet. Conclusion We found the collaborative strategy fruitful and not only did it result in a closer collaboration between the digital library and the pedagogical unit but also with the library network. Due to several reasons we conducted a new tender of a discovery system during 2012. The tender resulted in a new system with a different supplier. In the implementation started in the autumn 2012, we implemented the experiences and learnings gained by our previous implementation.


The paper provides an analysis of the 19th – early 20th centuries autobiographies by I. Snehyrov, N. Ustrialov, S. Soloviov, K. Bestuzhev-Riumyn, M. Maksymovych, N. Kostomarov, V. Antonovych, M. Drahomanov, V. Semevskyi, etc. Such concepts as «life events», «actors», «stories» act as key notions of the research. This research focuses on the «event» saturation at various stages and different spheres of the university life of memoirists, as well as the peculiarities of interpretation and presentation of the corresponding «events». Particular attention is paid to the analysis of «stories», which are a complete narration and give some «events» the status of «key» or «turning». In addition, the paper analyzes the circle of communication of memoirists (so-called «significant others»), which allows to talk about the relationships in the system «teacher – student», «client – patron», etc. Understanding autobiographical texts as cultural and intellectual constructs influenced by a lot of factors (cultural and historiographic tradition, life experience of a memoirist, etc.), makes it possible to understand more deeply not only the individual «life path» of the university historian, but also the phenomenon of the university as a whole. In particular, the appearance in the autobiographies of historians of the younger generation of reflections on their current system of education, attempts to understand the moral code of «university person», the emphasis on the recognition of their scientific achievements by their colleagues. This is what indicates the beginning of the formation process of a professional community and awareness of the university values.
