The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between involvement, Entrepreneurial orientation and performance of Christian Faith-Based Hotels (CFBHs) in Kenya. Involvement is the extent to which subordinate staff feels a sense of ownership and responsibility to the organization. Involvement has captured interest throughout the last decade because of its important relationship between the concept itself and its outcomes such as gaining competitive advantage and performance. Entrepreneurial Orientation is key as it determines the success or failure of Christian Faith-Based Hotels. The study was guided by the use of the Denison’s organizational model and used the mixed methods approach guided by a cross-sectional survey research design. The population of the study included 72 managers and 1878 subordinate staff from 24 Christian Faith-Based Hotels in Kenya and the sample size comprised 394 respondents. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings revealed that organization culture involvement significantly influences the performance of Christian Faith-Based Hotels in Kenya. The dimensions of involvement Empowerment, Team Orientation, and Capability development were all found to have significant influences on performance in all critical ratios 2.829, 2.301 and 3.502 respectively which are all greater than the 1.96 Z score at 5% level of significance. Entrepreneurial orientation was also found to significantly moderate the relationship between organization culture involvement significantly influences the performance of Christian Faith-Based Hotels in Kenya. A significant change in R-square of 0.063 was found due to the inclusion of interaction terms between involvement dimensions and entrepreneurial orientation. The p-value of the F-change due to the change in R-square was found to be 0.043 implying a significant change but consequently, there is a significant moderating effect.

Abstract Organisational culture has been the focus in both theory and practice and has captured attention throughout the last decade because of its substantial relationship between the concept itself and its outcomes such as gaining competitive advantage and performance in businesses. Entrepreneurial Orientation refers to the strategy making processes that it provides organisations with a basis for entrepreneurial decisions and actions. Despite of its importance and being a popular entrepreneurship concept there is little evidence of research that has been done to determine the relationship between Entrepreneurial Orientation, organisational culture adaptability and performance in hotels and where applied it is minimal. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Entrepreneurial Orientation, organisational culture adaptability and performance of Christian Faith-Based Hotels in Kenya. This study was anchored on the epistemology philosophy and adopted a positivist approach. The study used the mixed methods approach guided by a cross-sectional survey research design. The variable items for organisational culture adaptability and performance were measured using the five-point Likert scale and using the Denison’s organisational survey instruments. The population of the study included 72 managers and 1878 junior staff from 24 Christian faith-based hotels in Kenya. Structural equation models (SEM) and an MMR model were fitted to assess the objective of the study. Based on the SEM and MMR models, the study found that adaptability has a significant positive influencing on the performance of Christian Faith Based Hotels β= 0.520, t= 2.444, p-value=0.018). The study also found that Entrepreneurial Orientation had a moderating role on the relationship between organisational culture adaptability and performance of Christian Faith Based Hotels based on the MMR model that had a significant change in R due to addition of the interaction term (R-square change=.063, F-change=4.293, p-value=0.043). The study is important to a business because it will encourage it to adapt to the environment to improve performance.

The study tested the impact of organization culture on the on the relationship between firm-level strategy and performance of food and beverage manufacturing firms in Kenya. The opinion of the CEO/MDs from 125 firms in this sector was sought by application of a structured questionnaire; the collected data was analysed using hierarchical regression analysis. The paper stated hypothesis that organizational culture has a significant effect on the relationship between firm-level strategy and performance. The results supported the hypothesis. Therefore, firm development of strong organization culture to support firm-level strategy for higher performance is paramount. These findings will contribute to government policy formulation for sector’s expansion and competitiveness and management drives in building a positive organization culture to support firm-level strategy for improved performance.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation (EO), knowledge management process (KMP) and dynamic capability (DC) toward the adoption of electronic commerce (e-commerce) of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in North Sumatera. Design/methodology/approach This study used a quantitative methodology using Smart PLS of structural equation model. A survey is done by distributing the questionnaires to the respondents (owner-managers) of SMEs across sectors. Using a convenient sampling technique, 131 respondents were selected. Using a cross-sectional survey design, 11 hypotheses were tested. Findings It is found that both innovativeness and proactiveness of EO have a significant relationship with e-commerce adoption (EA), while the risk-taking of EO is found as insignificant. Both risk-taking and proactiveness of EO are significantly related to KMP, but innovation of EO is found to be insignificant. Moreover, KMP significantly mediates the relationship between risk-taking and proactiveness of EO and EA, while KMP insignificantly mediates the relationship between innovativeness of EO and EA. Finally, it is found that DC has a significant relationship in EA. Originality/value By using the resource based-theory, the study on the decision of EA by SMEs is conducted which focuses on a number of internal and external factors influencing the adoption decision. This differs from other studies using theories of the technological, organizational and environmental, theory of acceptance and use of technology, theory of planned behavior, theory of reasoned action and others which emphasized on the implementation and usage of EA.

This research investigates the effects of entrepreneurial orientation and external technology acquisition on the performance of technology-based new ventures in the context of a transitional economy. An analysis of the cross-sectional data from 123 Chinese technology-based new ventures was conducted. The results of the analysis support the contention that both the acquisition of external technology and entrepreneurial orientation improve new ventures’ performance. Additionally, the interaction of entrepreneurial orientation and external technology acquisition positively moderates the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and performance of technology-based new ventures. Overall, this study contributes to our enhanced understanding of the complex relationship among entrepreneurial orientation, external technology acquisition and firm performance under transitional economic conditions. Firms from emerging economies, especially technologybased new ventures, may find the study findings useful in guiding their decision on external technology acquisition.

Previous studies considered entrepreneurial orientation as a determinant of firms’ growth and performance. In this research, we are interested in spin-offs. Indeed, we aim to study the relationship between their entrepreneurial orientation and their performance. Therefore, we carried out a cross-cultural study in three different countries; Tunisia, Canada, and Morocco. We opted for a personal survey. We addressed our questionnaire to 180 managers of spin-offs and we analyzed the research variables using SPSS 20.00 (Statistical Packages for Social Sciences) and Smart PLS 3 (Partial Least Squares). Our findings highlight a positive correlation between entrepreneurial orientation and performance of spin-offs within the three samples.

Abstract Although a cumulative body of literature explains entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and firm performance, there remain differing views on the mechanisms underlying this relationship. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of EO on firm performance by considering the roles of dynamic capabilities (DC) and corporate entrepreneurship (CE). We propose that DC and CE mediate the relationship between EO and firm performance, and our empirical results support these propositions. This study fills a gap in the literature on the EO–performance relationship by considering the linkages among disposition, capabilities, and activities in the South Korean context.

Abstract This paper explores the relationship between corporate entrepreneurship and performance by developing a comprehensive theoretical model based on Schumpeterian understanding of entrepreneurship supported with the Theory of Planned Behavior from social psychology. The model shows how organizational culture (value) triggers a chain effect through its influence on entrepreneurial orientation (attitude) and managerial support (intentions) that ultimately generate impact on corporate entrepreneurship (behavior). We test our model in an emerging economy context and present our results with implications to theory and practice.
