Probiotik Bioremediasi-Bacillus sp. dengan komposisi bakteri yang menguntungkan, serta bekerja secara sinergis pada lingkungan budidaya dan pada saluran cerna inang. Selain, dapat memperbaiki kualitas lingkungan juga dapat meningkatkan aktivitas enzim pencernaan udang. Pada akhirnya menyebabkan peningkatan pertumbuhan dan memperkecil resiko timbulnya penyakit  pada udang.  Tujuan dari penelitian ini menentukan konsentrasi optimum aplikasi probiotik Bioremediasi-Bacillus sp.  dalam media budidaya udang vannamei.  Penelitian didesain dalam Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan konsentrasi probiotik Bioremediasi-Bacillus sp. yaitu kontrol (tanpa probiotik); 0,5; 1,0; 1,5 ppm per minggu, masing-masing dengan 3 ulangan.  Selama penelitian, udang uji dipelihara dalam akuarium kaca berkapasitas 30 L dengan kepadatan 4 ekor/L dan diberi pakan berbentuk powder dengan kadar protein 52% sebanyak 70-100% total biomassa.  Media air yang digunakan bersalinitas ± 30 ppt sebanyak 25 L.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi perbaikan kualitas lingkungan budidaya pada perlakuan aplikasi probiotik, terutama kadar amoniak lebih rendah dibandingkan kontrol.  Kadar enzim pencernaan α-amilase dan protease juga meningkat signifikan dibandingkan kontrol.  Keadaan inilah yang menyebabkan sintasan dan pertumbuhan udang vannamei yang mendapat perlakuan pemberian probiotik lebih tinggi dibandingkan kontrol, sedangkan berbagai konsentrasi probiotik tidak menghasilkan respon perbedaan. Dapat disimpulkan aplikasi probiotik Bioremediasi-Bacillus sp. dengan konsentrasi 0,5 ppm per minggu dalam media budidaya dapat memperbaiki kualitas lingkungan budidaya dan aktivitas enzim pencernaan α-amilase dan protease, sehingga dapat meningkatkan sintasan dan pertumbuhan udang vannamei.Bioremediation-Bacillus sp. probiotics with the composition of the beneficial bacteria, as well as working synergistically on aquaculture and environment in the host gastrointestinal tract. In addition, it can improve the quality of the environment can also increase the activity of digestive enzymes shrimp. Ultimately lead to increased growth and minimize the risk of disease of shrimp. The purpose of this study to determine the optimum concentration of applications Bioremediation-Bacillus sp. probiotics vannamei shrimp culture in the media. The study was designed in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatment concentration of bioremediation-Bacillus sp. probiotics the control (without probiotic), 0.5; 1.0, 1.5 ppm per week, with three replications each. During the study, the test shrimp rearing  in glass aquaria with a capacity of 30 L with a density of 4 fish / L and fed the form of powder with 52% protein content as much as 70-100% of total biomass. Water medium used ± 30 ppt salinity  as much as 25 L. The results showed improvement of environmental quality cultivation occurs in the probiotic treatment applications, particularly ammonia levels lower than controls. Digestive enzyme levels of α-amylase and protease also increased significantly compared to controls. This condition which cause the vannamei shrimp survival and growth were receiving higher than controls of probiotic treatment, while various concentrations of probiotic did not produce differences in response. Application of Bioremediation-Bacillus sp.  probiotics can be concluded with a concentration of 0.5 ppm per week in culture media can improve the quality of the environment cultivation and the activity of digestive enzymes α-amylase and protease, thus increasing the survival and growth of vannamei shrimp

Abstract This study investigated the effects on survival, growth performance and water quality of algae, yeast and photosynthetic bacteria as diets for larval and immature/mature Streptocephalus sirindhornae. Survival of the larvae fed with the alga Chlorella vulgaris and the photosynthetic bacterium Rhodopseudomonas faecalis for 5 days was higher than 80%, while those fed with the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae was 4.4%. After feeding the 6-day-old fairy shrimp until they reached 30 days of age, those fed with bacteria showed the highest survival and growth rate. Ammonia, nitrate and nitrite concentrations in the water treated with R. faecalis were the lowest. The highest ammonia concentration, the lowest dissolved oxygen, and excessive turbidity were found in the yeast treatment. Frequent water replacement could not overcome this, which resulted in the low survival rate. Utilization of photosynthetic bacteria in fairy shrimp culture is for the first time reported herein, and the disadvantages of using yeast in S. sirindhornae cultivation are discussed.

After a short overview of the history of probiotics, the author presents the development of human intestinal microflora based on the newest genetic data and the microbiological features of main probiotics. The indications of probiotic administration have been defined and extended in recent years. The author reviews significant results of probiotic treatment in some gastrointestinal diseases based on meta-analytical data. Probiotics are useful in preventing and treating diarrhoea caused by antibiotics and Clostridium difficile caused diarrhoea. In the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection, preparations containing certain Lactobacillus,Bifidobacterium strains or Saccaromyces boulardii could enhance by 5–10% the rate of successful eradication and reduce the incidence and severity of the side effects. Some symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and thus the quality of life can be improved by probiotics. Their beneficial effect in ulcerative colitis was proven, while in Crohn’s disease has not yet been defined. The use of probiotics is not included in guidelines, with the exception of the Maastricht IV/Florence consensus. For each disease it is advisable to use probiotics containing strains only with proven beneficial effect. The efficiency of preparations containing mixed strains has not yet been properly investigated. The author reviews the rare but potentially serious side effects of probiotics. In Hungary, there are many probiotic preparations available which can be purchased in pharmacies without prescription: their use is more empirical than evidence-based. The European Food Safety Authority has recently rejected claims for probiotics to be classed as medicines given the lack of convincing evidence on the effects of probiotics on human health and well-being. To reuse municipal sewage sludge safely, experiment was carried out on grapefruit trees fertilized with composted sludge from Shiweitou Sewage Treatment Plant in Xiamen City of China, and a method was introduced of how to assess the environmental quality of grapefruit trees soil fertilized with sludge by Set Pair Analysis (SPA) model. The results showed that the soil in the surface layer (0-15cm) and the deeper layer (15-30cm) was less clean, and the environment of soil was not polluted. Thus it was feasible to use sludge as fruit fertilizer. The maximum service life of sludge for continuous land application was estimated by taking Cd as the limiting factor, which would provide scientific guide and technical support for safe land application of sludge.

Abstract Objective To evaluate in-vitro quality of paracetamol 500 mg tablet brands marketed in Saudi Arabia. Results Two reference (R1 and R2) and seven generic (G1-G7) brands were commercially available. Four brands were single-drug, containing paracetamol only (R1, G1-G3) and five contained additional active ingredients (R2, G4-G7). All brands were immediate-release. Weight variation (n = 20, range as percent difference from mean), active substance content (n = 20, mean (SD) as percent difference from label), breaking force (n = 10, mean (SD)), and friability (n = 20, as percent weight loss) ranged from 97 to 102%, 96.1% (2.9%) to 99.8% (1.1%), 9.9 (0.4) to 21.0 (0.9) kg, and 0.017% to 0.809%, respectively. Disintegration (water medium) time (n = 6, minute: second) ranged from 02:35–03:09 to 12:49–13:10. Dissolution (phosphate buffer, pH 5.8) profile showed a mean release at 30 min of 87% to 97% of label content, with seven brands passing stage-1 (≥ 85% for each of 6 test units) and two passing stage-2 (mean of 12 test units ≥ 85%) criteria. Despite statistically significant differences between R1 and R2 and some of their corresponding generic brands in active substance content, breaking force, and amount dissolved at 30 min, all nine brands met the pre-specified quality standards.
