La metodología de enseñanza-aprendizaje Flipped-classroom se presenta como una metodología activa en la que se invierte el orden de aprendizaje, de este modo los estudiantes visionan video sesiones o poliformats en línea de los conceptos que se trabajan durante la sesión presencial. Este planteamiento de “invertir” con respecto a la clase tradicional ha sido aplicado a las prácticas de laboratorio de la asignatura de Expresión Gráfica en el Grado en Ingeniería en Tecnologías Industriales en el curso 2018-19 de la Universitat Politècnica de València. La clase inversa se organizó en sesiones semanales con visionado de videos antes y después de clase y resolución de ejercicios durante y después de clase, detallando el procedimiento seguido en cada sesión presencial. Todo ello gestionado desde la aplicación Lessons.La metodología flipped-classroom nos ha permitido aumentar la motivación de los alumnos, dilucidar y contrastar la percepción de los alumnos en relación al método de aprendizaje tradicional, favorecer el autoprendizaje y el aprendizaje colaborativo en el aula entre alumnos, así como mejorar la comunicación entre alumno y profesor. Por lo que respecta a la evaluación se aprecia una mejora en las calificaciones, así como una valoración positiva a la implementación de la clase inversa.AbstractThe Flipped Classroom teaching method is presented as an active method in which the normal procedure is inverted. The students watch video sessions or polyformats in line with the concepts taught in the normal class. This inverted approach with respect to the traditional class was applied to lab practice sessions in the subject of Graphic Expression as part of the Industrial Technologies Engineering Degree course at the Universitat Politècnica de València in the year 2018-19. The flipped classroom took place in weekly sessions with video sessions before and after, while problems were set to be solved during and after the class. The procedure was followed up later in in-class sessions. Everything was controlled by the Lessons app.This method was seen to increase students’ motivation and clarify their perceptions to a greater degree than the traditional teaching method, while encouraging self-learning and collaborative learning among the class members and improving student-lecturer communications. Evaluation grades were found to increase, and the Flipped Classroom technique was given the general approval of both students and lecturers.

This work is focus on implementation, development, documentation, analysis and assessment of flipped classroom methodology, by means of just in time teaching strategy, in a pilot group (1 of 6) of the subject “Applied Computing” of Chemical Engineering Undergraduate Degree of the University of Barcelona. The results show that this technique promotes self-learning, autonomy, time management as well as an increase in the effectiveness of classroom hours.

Online courses are gaining popularity because they provide extensive and varied course material, information, knowledge, and skills, whilst also creating an effective educational online community. This research adopts a case study approach to focus on the teaching method and the manner in which a strategic commitment to eLearning provides scope for the development and implementation of top quality educational online fully accredited programs. Entrepreneurship focuses on developing businesses that add value and create wealth and prosperity in our societies. Therefore, entrepreneurship is a key area of learning for graduate students seeking to set up and operate their own SME organizations. It can serve as a benchmark for the teaching of other graduate subjects that require a sound correlation for the correlation of concepts and theories to the challenging complexities of the real world. The program was developed on the basis of the implementation of a state-of-the-art eLearning platform that allowed for a combination of varied self-learning and collaborative learning elements and activities within a single platform. This enabled students to access the online content material efficiently and effectively. It allows for the development of a program based on the flipped classroom teaching methodology. The underlying concept of the flipped classroom methodology is that effective eLearning should comprise both synchronous and asynchronous learning activities. This combination of self-learning and collaborative learning calls for careful planning by the tutor to ensure that the learning objectives are clearly defined for each activity and that the relevant deliverables are monitored. The content material for each subject course module was designed, developed, produced, and presented by the different project partners in a holistic manner structured to motivate participants to learn. The results of our analysis have shown that students were able to learn, discuss their projects, and cooperate during an online course in an effective and participant-focused manner with their tutors. The feedback given highlights the importance of ongoing communications between students and the tutors who often need to act as mentors to retain student engagement.

Background: The flipped classroom model provides an ideal ground to convert a traditional classroom into an interactive environment based on problem-solving learning with a focus on university students’ self-determination. Objectives: The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of flipped and traditional teaching methods in problem-solving learning and self-determination among university students. Methods: The research method was experimental with a pretest-posttest design and a control group. The statistical population included all female students of Farhangian University in Ahvaz city in the academic year 2019. Using a purposive sampling method, 36 students were selected and randomly divided into experimental and control groups (n = 18 per group). The research instrument included the Problem-Solving Inventory (PSI) and the Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction scale. The experimental group received the flipped teaching program during eight 120-min sessions once a week; however, the control group received the traditional teaching method. multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA), univariate analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), and Bonferroni post hoc tests were used to analyze the data. Results: The posttest scores (mean ± SD) of problem-solving learning and self-determination were 83.77 ± 14.17 and 119.33 ± 13.79, respectively, in the experimental group, which were significantly different from the scores of the control group. The flipped classroom promoted problem-solving learning and components of self-determination among university students in the experimental group when compared to the control group (P = 0.01). The flipped teaching method was more effective than the traditional method in increasing problem-solving learning and self-determination among university students. Conclusions: According to the findings, the flipped teaching method had greater impacts on students’ problem-solving and self-determination than had the traditional method.

This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using flipped classroom model on learning English as a foreign language and students’ attitudes towards flipped classroom. The sample of study consisted of 31 students at Faculty of Arts, Misurata University. The participants were divided into two groups: 16 students for the experimental group and 15 students for the control group. The data collection tools used in this study were an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) test and a questionnaire to explore students’ attitudes towards flipped classroom. Participants in both groups were pre-tested using the EFL test before the experiment. Then, the experimental group was taught using flipped classroom strategy while the control group was taught using the traditional teaching method. After the experiment, students in both groups were post-tested using the EFL test while the questionnaire was administered to the students of the experimental group only. The results of the study showed that applying the strategy of the flipped classroom had a significant effect in increasing the students’ performances in learning English. The questionnaire responses showed positive attitudes regarding the use of flipped teaching.

Adoption of new practice only occurs if the proposed change is perceived as being beneficial and if the challenges associated with implementing the new practice are not overwhelming. The teaching method of flipping the classroom is a newer practice that has received a lot of attention in current literature, where the potential benefits are thoroughly discussed. The challenges associated with flipping the classroom are more obscure in the literature. The purpose of this chapter is to outline challenges associated with flipping the classroom and propose solutions to overcome each of the challenges described. Challenges of implementing a flipped classroom can occur at the institutional or individual level and can be categorized as technological or non-technological. Specific challenges to be discussed include technology delivery challenges at the organizational and individual level, lack of technical support, IT infrastructure challenges, inadequate technical and non-technical training resources for instructors, instructor and student resistance to using non-traditional teaching methods, the inability to assess student comprehension using traditional strategies, increased course preparation time, and lack of student preparation or buy-in.

The purpose of this study is to measure the effectiveness of the flipped classroom strategy for self-directed learning among undergraduate students in Mathematics courses. A forty-six (46) students of Actuarial Mathematics course from one university were participated to measure their academic performance during-the-class. A six number of students were randomly selected for a survey with open-ended questions via google form to explore their experiences using this approach. For this study, there was a pre-experimental research design with a group of students in one class. There were two ways of teaching techniques to make a comparison in this study. First, the undergraduate students were taught using a traditional teaching method to provide a baseline, where the instructor showed and explained all the steps to solve mathematical problems, and the understanding of the students will be assessed by conducting a pre-assessment quiz. Second, the students were taught using flipped classroom strategy, where the students were given the solutions including all the steps to solve mathematical problems without guidance or explanation from the instructor, then the students were given similar mathematical problems to be solved by themselves by referring to the example given, then the understandings of students will be assessed by conducting a post-assessment quiz. Third, reimplementing the flipped classroom strategy by conducting the third quiz. Finally, the effectiveness of the flipped classroom strategy is measured by comparing the results from all assessment performance. Also, teacher reflection and students’ feedback were gathered to access self-directed learning effectiveness. The result showed that the post-assessment performance from a flipped classroom strategy was significantly higher than the pre-assessment performance from traditional teaching methods. The lowest score of the pre-assessment using the traditional teaching method was less than one (1) score. On the contrary, the lowest score of the postassessment performance using the flipped classroom strategy was five (5) scores. Moreover, the majority of the respondents achieved eight to ten scores. From the result, it was found that both teaching methodologies produced different results in students’ performance for this study. Besides, the students also provided good feedback from the strategy based on the result of the interview: (a) fun and interesting, (b) curiosity, (c) providing students’ autonomy, (d) initiating communication, (e) integrating the use of technology in learning mathematics, (f) preparing for the final exam. Overall, the students found that the flipped classroom strategy is potentially enhancing student’s engagement and performance in mathematics education. The findings have implications for the instructors to implement the flipped classroom strategy for mathematics subjects to acquire better performance among undergraduate students. The flipped classroom requires self-directed learning among students that can be more interesting learning experiences among the students.

The accounting higher education has techniques of knowledge transfer for the professional formation of the academic, therefore, most of the teaching techniques are focused on the disclosure of the laws due to the financial movement of the organizations. Knowing this, much of the advancement in teaching is due to the transmission of the experience of the accounting professor and the student facing the labor market operations. There are other methods of teaching accounting such as lecture, case study, seminars, discussion and debate, however they are still focused on the transmission of experiences or the fictional representation of teaching. This article aims to highlight the use of board games in the Accounting Science course, the teaching based on game fiction, as a way of fixing the content in the teaching of cost accounting, compared to traditional teaching methods. To prove the hypothesis, a board game was created, focused on promoting student engagement and favored the transmission of course content. For research observation and control, questionnaires based research methods were used before and after the use of the game in specific classes of the Accounting Science course. The results were demonstrated through graphs for better visualization. Thus, it was possible to conclude that there was a significant difference in the results before and after the application of this teaching method. In addition, students interacted and became cooperatively involved, which proved the effectiveness of the method in motivating and engaging students in the teaching-learning process.

This study aims to evaluate the practical application value of the teaching method under the guidance of educational psychology and artificial intelligence (AI) design, taking the deep learning theory as the basis of teaching design. The research objects of this study involve all the teachers, students, and students' parents of Ningbo Middle School. The questionnaires are developed to survey the changes in the performance of students before and after the implementation of the teaching design and the satisfaction of all teachers, students, and parents to different teaching methods by comparing the two results and the satisfaction ratings. All objects in this study volunteer to participate in the questionnaire survey. The results suggest the following: (1) the effective return rates of the questionnaires to teachers, students, and parents are 97, 99, and 95%, respectively, before implementation; whereas those after implementation are 98, 99, and 99%, respectively. Comparison of the two return results suggests that there was no significant difference statistically (P > 0.05). (2) Proportion of scoring results before and after implementation is given as follows: the proportions of levels A, B, C, and D are 35, 40, 15, and 10% before implementation, respectively; while those after implementation are 47, 36, 12, and 5%, respectively. After the implementation, the proportion of level A is obviously higher than that before the implementation, and the proportions of other levels decreased in contrast to those before the implementation, showing statistically obvious differences (P < 0.05). (3) The change in the performance of each subject after 1 year implementation is significantly higher than that before the implementation, and the change in the average performance of each subject shows an upward trend. In summary, (1) the comparison on the effective return rate of the satisfaction survey questionnaire proves the feasibility of its scoring results. (2) The comparison of the survey scoring results shows that people are more satisfied with the new educational design teaching method. (3) The comparison of the change in the performance of each subject before and after the implementation indirectly reflects the drawbacks of partial subject education, indicating that the school should pay the same equal attention to every subject. (4) Due to various objective and subjective factors, the results of this study may be different from the actual situation slightly, and its accuracy has to be further explored in the future.

We present the application of the flipped classroom strategy in two subjects of the degree in Statistics (University of Barcelona-Polytechnic University of Catalonia) and analyse the opinion of students about the experience. The objective is to improve the learning process of statistics by promoting a more active attitude of students in the classroom. The new strategy has been welcomed by students, as most of them are satisfied with the experience. Many of them would like that the stratgy would be applied to a significant number of lessons in the subject, or even in other subjects of the degree. Moreover, students think that it helped them to develop their capacity to organize their study time and their self-learning competence. They also think that with the flipped classroom strategy they learn more than with the traditional classes, but they remark the importance of imcluding a session where the teacher answers the questions and solves the doubts of students to ensure a sucessful implementation.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of flipped learning on students' academic achievements in the subject of science at Bilim Innovation Lyceums (BIL) in Kazakhstan. For this purpose, pre and post surveys were conducted on 168 students who were divided into two groups; the experimental group consisting of 84 students who took part in flipped learning classes for seven weeks and the control group consisting of 84 students who experienced the traditional method of classroom instruction at the same period. To achieve the objectives of the study, a final placement test score was used before and after the introduction of the flipped classroom model. The results of the study are summarized as follows. There were a significant difference between the two groups in terms of academic achievement when it measured by test scores before and after the concerned semester. On the basis of these findings, several suggestions were made for the schools to utilize innovative instructional methods including flipped learning for sustainable education in the future.
