<em>The aims of this research are to describe: (1) the use of diction in the lyrics of the song album Don’t Make Me Sad by Letto; (2) the existence of imagery in the lyrics of the song Don’t Make Me Sad by Letto; (3) the dominant style of language in the lyrics of the song album Don’t Make Me Sad by Letto; (4) the value of character education in the lyrics of the song album Don’t’ Make Me Sad by Letto; and (5) the relevance with the teaching materials of literature for senior high school students. This research is descriptive qualitative research using content analysis method. The source of data in this research is the lyrics of the song album Don’t Make Me Sad by Letto and the result of interview with informants. The technique of taking the sample used in this research was purposive sampling. The technique of collecting the data in this research was data analysis and interview with the informants. This research uses source triangulation and method triangulation to validate the data. The researcher uses interactive analysis method in this research. </em>

ABSTRACT The concept of humanistic education is education that has principles to humanize humans such as education that explores, respects, serves, and helps students develop their potential with the aim of making students a generation that is intelligent, religious and has good character. Education has many obstacles and very complex problems. Various factors including the development of science and technology have led to changes in the behavior of adolescents, especially high school students, who commit crimes such as immoral crimes and so on. This moral degradation causes PAI teachers to try to educate students not to be carried away by the current of modernization which has a negative impact by instilling religious values. However, in reality, many people think that PAI is not important. A different phenomenon occurs in one high school in Lumajang City, namely SMAN 1 Lumajang. Where students really like PAI lessons because learning PAI at school is carried out with a humanistic approach. This journal discusses the implementation of the humanistic approach in Islamic Education lessons and also the constraints and reasons for using humanistic theory in Islamic Education learning. The research method used is qualitative research methods. Keywords: Approach, Humanistic, Pendidikan Agama Islam ABSTRAK Konsep pendidikan humanistik adalah pendidikan yang memiliki prinsip untuk memanusiakan manusia seperti pendidikan yang menggali, menghargai, melayani, dan membantu siswa mengembangkan potensi yang dimiliki dengan tujuan agar siswa menjadi generasi yang cerdas, religius dan berakhlakul karimah. Pendidikan banyak mengalami kendala dan permasalahan yang amat komplek. Berbagai faktor termasuk perkembangan IPTEK menyebabkan perubahan tingkah laku remaja khususnya siswa/siswi SMA banyak melakukan tindak kriminalitas seperti kejahatan asusila dan sebagainya. Degradasi moral inilah yang menyebabkan guru PAI berusaha untuk mendidik murid agar tidak terbawa dengan arus modernisasi yang membawa dampak negatif dengan menanamkan nilai-nilai keagamaan. Namun pada kenyataannya banyak yang menganggap pelajaran PAI itu tidak penting. Fenomena berbeda terjadi pada salah satu SMA di Lumajang yaitu SMA Negeri 1 Lumajang. Dimana para siswa sangat menyukai pelajaran PAI karena pembelajaran PAI disekolah tersebut dilakukan dengan pendekatan humanistik. Jurnal ini membahas mengenai implementasi pendekatan humanistik pada pelajaran PAI dan juga kendala serta alasan menggunakan teori humanistik dalam pembelajaran PAI. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif. Kata Kunci : Pendekatan, Humanistik, Pendidikan Agama Islam

Since the outbreak of Coronavirus in 2020, teaching and studying activities commonly conducted in the classrooms were shifted to online, which caused students to adapt and accept without compromising. This study analyzed the dialogue texts expressing students' hopes and views about the future of learning amidst the Covid-19 pandemic written by the Senior High School students of Nanyang Zhi Hui school in Medan, Sumatera Utara. The objectives are to analyze the mood, modality, and modality orientation types; and figure out the dominantly-applied mood, modality, and orientation types in the dialogue texts. This descriptive qualitative research applied the Mood and Modality theory by Halliday and other linguists. The study revealed that 1) three mood types: declarative, interrogative, and imperative, four types of modality: probability, usuality, obligation, and inclination range from low, median, and high degrees; four orientations: subjective-explicit, subjective-implicit, objective-explicit, and objective-implicit occurred in the texts; and 2) the clauses are represented through the extensive use of declarative mood (80,74%), median probability (47%), and implicitly objective modality orientation (45,15%). The study concludes that the students tend to give their insights using statements with median probability and orientation of objective-implicit in the dialogue, which shows a lack of confidence in the utterances.

Background: Language is method of human communication. It is used as means to communicate with other people. Research purposes: to find out the types of illocutionary act in Textbook : Modul Pengayaan Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris Peminatan Semester 2,  to identify dominant kinds of illocutionary act in Textbook : Modul Pengayaan Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris Peminatan Semester 2. Research methods: This reseacrh was designed as descriptive qualitative research. The technique of data collecting there are 3 steps. First, the researcher researcher tries to identify the data or the dialogues from the written conversation which are related to the statements of the problems according textbook. Second, the researcher analyzed and classified the types of illocutionary act and the dominant kinds of illocutionary act. Third, the researcher identified the illocutionary act found in Textbook : Modul Pengayaan Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris Peminatan Semester 2 based on types of illocutionary acts. Research results: The total number of types of the data found were 292, there were 34 utterance of declaration, 92 utterances of representative, 48 utterances of expressive, 95 utterances of directives, and 26 utterances of commisive. The dominant type of illocutionary was found is directives with 95 utterences Conclusion: Those were declarative, representative, expressive, directive, and commisive. To be more specific, there are 40 utterances of declarative, 85 utterances of representative, 53 utterances of expressive, 87 utterances of directive, and 26 utterances of commisive.

Abstract: This study examined what character education values presented in the English textbook published by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republic Indonesia for grade 12. This type of this research is a content analysis. The data source of this research is the English textbook for grade 12 SMA/SMK. Fourteen speaking scripts of this textbook were analysed by using content analysis to find what values inserted in it. The finding showed that there were 17 character education values presented in the English textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris SMA/SMK. It means this textbook is suitable as the materials and guidance for English teachers to teach English and to develop the character education values suggested by the 2013 Curriculum to the students.Keywords: character education values, content analysis, the english texbook, the 2013 curriculumANALISIS NILAI-NILAI PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER DALAM BUKU TEKS BAHASA INGGRIS UNTUK SISWA KELAS DUA BELAS SMA: BAHASA INGGRIS SMA/SMK Abstrak: Penelitian ini menguji nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter apa yang disajikan dalam buku teks bahasa Inggris yang diterbitkan oleh Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia untuk kelas 12. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian analisis isi. Sumber data penelitian ini yaitu buku teks bahasa Inggris untuk SMA/SMK kelas 12. Empat belas potongan pembicaraan dari buku teks ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis konten untuk menemukan nilai-nilai apa yang ada di dalamnya. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada 17 nilai pendidikan karakter yang disajikan dalam buku teks bahasa Inggris berjudul Bahasa Inggris SMA/SMK. Ini berarti buku teks ini cocok sebagai bahan dan pedoman bagi guru Bahasa Inggris untuk mengajar Bahasa Inggris dan untuk mengembangkan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang disarankan oleh Kurikulum 2013 kepada para siswa.Kata Kunci: nilai pendidikan karakter, analisis konten, buku teks bahasa inggris, kurikulum 2013

Abstract In physics learning, students need to know the extent to which scientific concepts have been studied. Scientific literacy is the ability to make decisions based on scientific considerations, solve problems and apply the knowledge gained in everyday life. This study aims to scientifically analyse the scientific literacy ability of senior high school students on the kinetic theory of gases. The sample of this research is 90 high school students. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative. The results study show that high school students’ ability was very low, many students did not have scientific literacy ability on physics learning. The implications of this study can be used as empirical evidence that the scientific literacy of senior high school students on physics learning still needs to be improved.

Misconceptions in stoichiometry of senior high school students grade X were studied through a qualitative research using a diagnostic test in the form of multiple choices with reason on 22 students from grade X-3. The validity of the instrument found was 83%. Meanwhile the realiability found was 0,61. The misconceptions found were in: (a) reaction equation is the equality number of coefficient in reactant and in the product for about 13,63%; (b) index number of an atom in a compound is the same as in free element for about 9,09%; (c) the molecule symbol of element in the form of gass has 2 index number for about 27,27%; (d) the greater number of coefficient reaction shows the greater number of substances involved in a reaction for about 9,09%; (e) no matter how many mols in a compound, it has a fixed molecules, 6,2 x 1023 molecules, for about 4,54%; (f) define atom the same as molecules, for about 9,09%; and (g) for P and T that have the same comparison of gass volume that involves in a reaction serves as the smallest coefficient.

The research aim is to observe the profile and description of thecharacter education in senior high school students. study was conducted in six Senior high schools of city consisting of: State Senior high school 1 of ; State Senior high school 2 of ; Muhammadiyah Senior high school of ; Mudmainah Senior high school of ; Catholic Senior high school St. of ; specifically class X of social science, with a sample of 300 students. Data collection methods used were questionnaires and interviews, and then analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the profile and description of the pluralism character education patterns quality in six senior high schools of city were very good category with intervals value of 80-100 %. The data shows that the quality of pluralism character education patterns is very good, with the pluralism character education pattern applied to senior high school students through exemplary teacher, religious approach, individual, and nationality.

This research aimed to examine the difficulties and failures of eleventh-grade students regarding probability concepts. With this aim, ten different open-ended probability problems were asked to the 142 eleventh-grade students. Each of these problems requires using different basic probability concepts. It is qualitative research, and the data gathered in this study were analyzed using by descriptive analysis method. The findings indicated that many of these students had difficulties in solving probability problems and failed to apply different probability concepts to these problems. Notably, it was stated that many students had difficulties in finding all the probabilities without any missing in these problems. Besides, it is essential to develop reasoning skills since the students usually used trial-and-error method and prediction to solve probability problems.

This study is aimed to determine the effectiveness of predict observe explain (POE) model with PhET to improve  critical thinking skills of senior high school students. The sample used was the grade eleven students of SMA N 18 Surabaya consist of 60 students. This type of research was pre-experimental with one group pre-test post-test design. Research data is obtained from the result of pre-test and post-test of  students' critical thinking skills and responses after learning activity. Data analysis techniques used N-gain and Wilcoxon test. The result of the study shows that the score of students' critical thinking skills in grade eleven of Group 1 and Group 2 increase after the implementation of predict observe explain (POE) learning model with PhET and both of them present positive responses to the learning component and show a good interest. Based on the data analysis result, it can be concluded that predict observe explain (POE) model with PhET is effective to use to improve the critical thinking skills of senior high school students.
