<p>The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Flipped Classroom in developing the achievement of university undergraduates. The quasi-experimental approach was used and three achievement posttests were carried out. Participants were (32) students who were in advance distributed to two groups, control and experimental. Analysis of Students' achievement grades revealed that the effectiveness of Flipped Classroom use, as a learning method needs time to take place in students' academic achievement and understanding of the learning materials because of  the nature of the Flipped Classroom that flipped the whole learning process. Thus, students needed time to be familiar with this new learning method for them. Results showed that there was no significant difference between participants' achievement mean scores in the first posttest at the end of the fifth week due to the use of the Flipped Classroom or the ordinary methods. However, there was a significant difference between students' achievement mean scores in the second posttest in favor of the experimental group students who learnt the course content through the use of  Flipped Classroom. In addition, there was a significant difference in student participants' mean scores in the third posttest in favor of  the experimental group students, too. In light of these findings, it was concluded that the instructor and his students should be patient for some time for the effectiveness of using the Flipped Classroom learning method to be noticed. Moreover, considerable time should be spent on familiarizing students with this new learning method.  </p>

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of learning station strategies on developing academic achievement and self-regulated learning among middle school students of low socioeconomic status. The sample group consisted of 68 female Saudi students. We applied a quasi-experimental design with an experimental and control group and a pretest and posttest. We examined the correlation between academic achievement and self-regulated learning. The data collection instruments included an academic achievement test and self-regulated learning questionnaire. The results revealed a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of both instruments in favor of the experimental group. Additionally, there was a positive relationship between development of academic achievement and self-regulated learning among the students for the experimental group. The study’s findings suggest that the learning stations created a dynamic classroom, which prompted students to engage in self-regulatory behaviors and develop their knowledge and understanding.

The flipped classroom model has become more popular and one of the focus of many researchers and teachers in the recent years. The aim of current study is to explore the effect of flipped classroom model on students’ achievements in the new SAT 2016 mathematics skills (Heart of Algebra, Problem solving and data analysis, and Passport to Advanced Math) for the eleventh grade Emirati female students in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Specifically, this study aims at determining whether there was a statistically significant difference in student achievements in the new SAT mathematics skills between two groups of grade 11 students. Thus, pretest/posttest quasi-experimental design was applied. The experimental group was taught by flipped classroom model, and the control group was taught by traditional instruction methods. The results revealed that there is a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest of the experimental group over the control group the new SAT mathematics skills. Furthermore, the findings suggest that teachers who teach mathematics standardized test skills like SAT can use flipped classroom model to enhance students’ readiness and to improve their thinking skills to simulate the 21st-century skills.

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Strategic Intervention Material (SIM) in Mathematics as remediation for Grade 9 students in solving problems involving quadratic functions. The SIM was designed as a remediation tool for students in teaching one of the least learned competencies. It was personally conducted by the researcher in Digos City NHS – Igpit HS Annex, Igpit, Digos City, Davao del Sur, Philippines during the School Year 2016-2017. A total of 16 Grade 9 students were the respondents of the study. Quasi-experimental design was used. The data were gathered using the researcher-made pretest and posttest. Frequency, relative frequency, mean and standard deviation were used to describe the academic achievement of students in problem solving involving quadratic functions. One-way analysis of co-variance (ANCOVA) was utilized to test if the significant difference existed between the experimental and the control groups. Findings revealed that the proficiency level of Grade 9 students in the posttest when remediated using the SIM was “satisfactory”; while the students remediated with the Grade 9 Learner’s Material was described as “did not meet expectations.” A significant difference in the academic achievement of students on the topic in favor of the experimental group was noted; hence, the Strategic Intervention Material in Mathematics was found effective as a remediation tool for Grade 9 students in solving problems involving quadratic functions. Recommendations were offered.

Discussions on how grammar should be taught have continued for decades. Previous studies have reported that today’s students called as Generation Z have shown negative attitudes toward grammar teaching with traditional methods and techniques, and that their academic achievements have failed to meet expectations. Not using methods and techniques that are consistent with the adopted philosophy of education hinders the success of this process. The study investigated the impact of computer-assisted instruction and correspondingly computer-assisted educational games on grammar academic achievement and attitudes toward grammar and Turkish course of students. In this study, a quasi-experimental design based on a quantitative study with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent group was applied. Participants of the study consisted of two classes of 6th grade students studying at a middle school. Computer-assisted educational games were designed and practiced in the experimental group within a 12-week period. For the control group, activities in the curriculum were followed during lessons. Results showed that grammar academic achievement of students between the experimental group in which computer-assisted educational games were practiced and the control group in which the existing curriculum was followed showed a significant difference in attitudes toward Turkish course and grammar on the behalf of the experimental group. Findings demonstrated that this kind of practice in teaching grammar made a significant difference on achievement and attitude of students. In addition, there was a positive, moderate and statistically significant relationship between attitudes toward grammar and Turkish course. Attitudes toward grammar of students determine attitudes toward Turkish course of students.

English is one of the primary subject that was taught in Electronic Engineering, Politeknik Negeri Bali, which includes speaking, writing and listening. Other than speaking, writing also become one of the most challenging subject in Electronic Engineering. To overcome the low writing skills of students and create pleasant learning atmosphere during the Covid 19 Pandemic, the authors want to try out learning method, namely Cooperative Learning Method with online media in the form of whatsapp. This research is a quantitative research with quasi experimental approach. The groups used in this study consist of two groups namely the experimental group using Whatsapp Cooperative Learning methods and the control grouos using the conventional method. The data collection technique in this study was in the form of a questionnaire and given to the students in both classes. From the data, it can be concluded that learning with the Whatsapp Cooperative Learning method is more effective to be used in teaching writing. It can be seen from the value of 2 of -2, 087 with Sig 0,037< 0,05 means that there is significant difference between the control class and the experimental class. This significant difference can be said as the result of the use of Whatsapp Cooperative Learning in class.

Identifying learning of the information in explanatory text requires creativity in its implementation. One of the things that affect identifying learning of the information in explanatory text is the students’ reading intensity. Therefore, it takes the most effective learning method to be applied and the learning method chosen is the SQ3R method. The purpose of this study was to explain the effectiveness of identifying learning of information in explanatory text by using the SQ3R method based on the reading intensity of the XI grade students at Madrasah Aliyah. The method used in this study was an experimental research design with a quasi-experimental factorial. The sample of this research is students of class IX MAN 2 Kudus. The collection of data uses identifying learning of the explanatory text information and reading intensity test to determine high or low reading intensity. Non-test data collection uses observation and photo documentation. The results of this study were (1) The SQ3R learning method was effective in identifying information in explanatory text for class XI students of Madrasah Aliyah with an increase of 12.23, from an average of 66.51 to 78.74. This is evidenced by the sign value=0.000<0.05, which means that there is a significant difference in the learning outcomes of the experimental group pre-test post-test which is used the SQ3R learning method. Meanwhile, the ability to identify information in explanatory text to students with low reading intensity treated with the SQ3R method, and an average value is 67. Identifying Learning of the information in explanatory text based on reading intensity of the XI grade students at Madrasah Aliyah by using the SQ3R is an effective learning method. The result of this learning has increased by 12.23, from an average of 66.51 to 78.74. This is evidenced by the sign value=0.000<0.05, which means that there is a significant difference in the learning outcomes of the experimental group pretest posttest using the SQ3R learning method

The flipped classroom method, which could be considered as one of the crucial new generation teaching approaches, is a permutation of the educational activities that are carried out inside and outside of the classroom environment. The main purpose of the present study is to determine the impact of the flipped classroom approach on students’ academic achievement and their attitudes toward programming and methodology at the higher education level. The current study employed a mixed research method as findings were transcribed on the basis of quantitative and qualitative data sets. Academic achievement tests and attitudes toward programming scales were used to collect quantitative data, whereas a semistructured focus group interview was used to collect the qualitative data set. The findings demonstrated that a statistically significant difference existed among the students in the experimental group and students within the control group regarding their attitudes toward programming and academic achievement. The results of the study reported that the experimental group had more positive attitudes and higher levels of academic achievement when compared with the control group. The advantages of the flipped classroom model include the elevated teacher–student interaction, raised independence in terms of accessing courses regardless of time and place, the opportunity to save time particularly during practicing, student-centered structure and increased motivation. This method also has many disadvantages. These include the need for technological requirements, students not watching videos, poor attendance to the course, and the lowered student–teacher interaction, especially outside the classroom.

This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of study skills training on academic achievement and retention of geography students in Jalingo metropolis of Taraba State. A pre-test, post-test control group, quasi experimental design was adopted for this study. Geography students were purposively selected from two private schools in Jalingo metropolis of Taraba State. Three validated and standardized instrument were used for data collection. These instruments were pre-test geography achievement, post-test geography achievement and retention geography test. Four research questions were stated for the lesson and four hypotheses tested at 0.05 level of significance. Test- retest method of reliability estimate was determined by using Pearson product moment correlation coefficient. The reliability coefficient of 0.86 was obtained. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, t-test and analysis of covariance. The result of the study revealed that the experimentalgroup thatwas given study skills training performed higher (mean=52.87, SD=12.5) than that of the control group (mean=41.0, SD=8.1). Also the retention score of the experimental group is higher (mean=49.60, SD=14.38) than the control group (mean= 36.20, SD=8.01). There was also a significant difference in the academic achievement and retention scores of experimental group and control group. Based on these findings, school teachers, curriculum planners are encouraged to include study skills training in the instructional processes in classrooms to enhance retention and achievement of students.

This study investigated the effects of instructional and administrative text messages on student academic achievement and sense of learning. Ninety-eight Food, Nutrition, and Wellness students in grades 9th through 12th were involved in this study. In this quasi-experimental study, there was an experimental group and a comparison group. Students in the experimental group received instructional and administrative text messages three times a week for a total of nine weeks. A one-way ANCOVA and independent samples t-test were used for data analyses. The study found a statistically significant difference in academic achievement and sense of learning with students in the experimental group scoring higher as compared to students in the control group. In addition, there was a statistically significant difference with females in the treatment group scoring higher than males in the treatment group.

The purpose of this study is to develop personalized web assisted activities for the flipped classroom model applied in the “Human and Environment Interactions” unit of science lesson and to research its effect on students’ achievement. The study was conducted with the participation of 7th grade science lesson students (N=74) within a period of 3 weeks. In the study, one of the experimental research methods, quasi-experimental research method, was used. Two different classes were randomly assigned as the experimental and control groups and flipped classroom model was applied on both groups. In the control group, only video lessons were used before the lesson. In the experimental group, web assisted activities were used as well as video lessons both before and during the lessons. “Human and Environment Interactions Unit Achievement Test”, which had a reliability coefficient of (KR-20) 0.76, was applied on the groups. The data analyses showed that there was a positive significant difference in favor of experimental group students. The developed material developed can be re-organized for any subject of the science class.
