Nanocrystalline CeO 2 with different particle sizes has been studied under high pressure using Raman spectroscopy techniques and diamond anvil cell at room temperature. The pressure shift of the first-order Raman frequency for each particle sizes was measured. Linear dependence of the first order Raman frequency on pressure for each particle sizes has been observed. We found that the first order Raman frequency decreases with the decreasing particle sizes under ambient condition and the lattice constant increases with the decreasing particle size. The increasing molar fraction of oxygen vacancies with the decreasing particle size is responsible for the lattice expansion.

Abstract WC-Co-Cr powders with different WC particle size have been sprayed by the HVOF process. At constant spraying conditions the powders give coatings of different quality. The deposition efficiency during spraying of powders containing large WC particles was found to be low compared to powders with finer WC grains. In addition the amounts of porosity and cracks were different. The coatings have been characterised by different methods. Erosion and erosion-corrosion tests showed that the WC particle size also influence the wear resistance of the coatings. Small WC particle size was found to be beneficial. Chemical composition of the matrix was also found to be decisive for the coating properties. An increase of the chromium content improved the erosion-corrosion resistance.

The morphology of pyrene-based AIEgens changes depending on the water fraction. The different size distribution and morphological changes of nano-particle species play a significant role in enhancing the emission intensity in the aggregated state.
