Abstract There is great interest in the development of a simple system that could identify adulteration or counterfeiting of Peruvian Pisco (a grape-based alcoholic drink). In this study, sensors based on SnO2-TiO2 and SnO2-MoO3 composites with different weight composition ratios were synthesized and characterized. These sensors were tested with aqueous solutions of EtOH/MetOH and Pisco samples of Italia and Quebranta varieties in order to explore their capacity to identify variations in these beverages. The response profile of the most sensitive sensors showed an enhanced response to alcoholic samples with greater content of ethanol up to a concentration of 45%v/v, while the increased content of methanol in the range of 0.1 to 0.3 % v/v diminished the intensity of the sensor response. Differences in the composition of methanol and ethanol in the Pisco varieties studied (Italia and Quebranta) were correlated to the capacity of the composite-based sensors to differentiate them with greater performance. Sensors based on SnO2-TiO2-1/2 composites showed greater reproducibility of their response profile over time in comparison to SnO2-TiO2-1/1 and SnO2-MoO3 composites. The PCA showed that composite sensors were able to differentiate Pisco samples according to their variety.

Corrosion is one of the leading sources of material failure and deterioration in society. Scholars have proposed different techniques to mitigate corrosion. This research study explores and validates one of these techniques. An Aluminium metal matrix (AMC) was produced using the stir casting method with various weight percentages of AgNp and CaCO3 reinforcements. Heat treatment was performed on the samples to enhance the metallurgical and corrosion properties of the materials. The corrosion rate of the AMC samples was tested in different corrosive media (neutral and acidic) with different concentrations using the weight loss analysis technique for several days. It was observed that the corrosion rate of the AMC relies on the nature of the electrolyte and the percentage concentration of this electrolyte. The heat treatment improves the corrosion resistance of the AMC samples. In addition, an increase in the % weight composition of the reinforcement (AgNp + CaCO3) results in a reduction in the corrosion rate of the AMC in both corrosive media. The optimal %weight composition was found to be 4% for the hybrid reinforcement of AgNp + CaCO3 and 6% for the CaCO3 reinforcement in both the untreated and heat-treated samples.

polydisperse compounds. Under the influence of agricultural use, the dispersion of LHS increases, and the molecular weight composition of LHS is trans-formed towards the accumulation of fractions with lower molecular weights in their composition. As a result, the number average molecular weight of LHS decreases from 15230 amu. in LHS virgin chernozem up to 11180-12770 amu. near LHS chernozem under permanent crops and fallow. The replacement of permanent steam with a deposit does not fundamentally affect the degree of dispersion of LHS and the values of the molecular weights of the fractions. There is only a tendency towards an increase in the relative content of fractions with high molecular weights. This is reflected in the value of the average molecular mass of LHS, which increased from 11180 amu in the variant with permanent vapor to 12530 amu. LHS has deposits. Abstract The use of agricultural wastes as additives for other valuable products has been the focus of many research efforts because of their availability, inherent properties, and environmental friendliness. Palm kernel shells (PKS) and coconut shells (CNS) are agricultural solid end products obtainable from the cracking of their fruit nuts. In this study, PKS and CNS were used to produce abrasive sandpaper following established procedures. The mechanical properties of the sandpaper produced were established. Material for application in abrasive operations must exhibit maximum hardness and compressive strength, minimal wear rate, water absorption, and density. Results showed a 20% and 25% increment in specimen hardness values for PKS and CNS respectively in samples with polyester resin content weight composition range of 7.8–22.2% based on sieve size of 250 μm. Similarly, 29.23% and 32.44% increment for PKS and CNS respectively was recorded for a sieve size of 420 μm. Samples with a high percentage of binder exhibit better wear characteristics for both PKS and CNS for the investigated parameters. As the percentage weight composition of PKS and CNS samples increases in the abrasive sandpaper composites, the water absorption properties decrease for both 250 μm and 420 μm sieve sizes. Samples compressive strength increases as the percentage weight composition of binder increases over a range of 7.8 to 22.2% for both 250 μm and 420 μm sieve sizes studied. Similarly, as the percentage weight composition of PSK and CNS increases, the sample exhibit high density for both sieve sizes. These characteristics affirmed the suitability of the abrasive composites made with PKS and CNS for frictional applications.

The category of personality is one of the basic concepts for psychology, but at the same time the most controversial in theoretical and methodological terms. That is why the study of personal characteristics in different populations, ethnicities, ages, professional groups, etc. still does not lose its relevance in the scientific field. Given that certain components of individual personality traits are innate, it is advisable to find connections between them and the characteristics of the human body. The purpose of the work is to determine and analyze the peculiarities of correlations between indicators of body structure and size and personality indicators of practically healthy women with mesomorphic somatotype. Primary anthropo-somatotypological and personality indicators of 33 practically healthy Ukrainian women of the first mature age of mesomorphic somatotype were selected from the data bank of materials of the research center of National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsya. The analysis of correlations between anthropo-somatotypological and indicators of personality traits was performed in the licensed package "Statistica 6.1" using the non-parametric Spearman's method. Multiple, mostly reliable, medium-strength straight lines (r = -0.35 to -0.50), Eysenck G. insincerity scales with the majority of girth dimensions, thickness of skin and fat folds, somatotype components, and body weight component composition; multiple, mostly significant medium-strength inverse (r = -0.37 to -0.52) correlations of the exaltation character of the exalted type according to Shmishek G. with the majority of girth dimensions, the majority of pelvic sizes, somatotype components and components of body weight composition; multiple significant mean strength inverse (r = -0.38 to -0.49) correlations of the extraversion-introversion scale according to Eysenck G. with the thickness of the skin and fat folds of the upper limb and under the shoulder blade. In other cases, single, medium-strength, reliable and unreliable direct and inverse correlations of anthropo-somatotypological indicators with the leading typological characteristics of temperament, psychodynamic features of personality and indicators of severity and features of accentuated personality traits. As a result of quantitative analysis of reliable and unreliable average correlations of anthropo-somatotypological indicators with personality traits of practically healthy women of mesomorphic somatotype, the highest relative percentage of correlations was found between: leading typological characteristics of temperament according to Eysenck G. and somatotype components body weight composition and body girth; psychodynamic personality traits according to Spielberger C. D. and longitudinal body size, thickness of skin and fat folds and components of the somatotype; indicators of severity and features of accentuated personality traits according to Shmishek G. and indicators of the component composition of body weight, somatotype components, body circumference and thickness of skin and fat folds; indicators of the level of subjective control over Rotter J. and the width of the distal epiphyses of the extremities and the transverse dimensions of the body.

In port cities, Customs and Excise fulfilled a number of literary functions. Their officials checked books to see that they were not pirated, seditious, or obscene, and they hence involved themselves in the protocols of copyright and censorship. This article examines the forms of reading associated with these activities and it argues that these modes of readings were shaped by the dockside procedures and routines that governed the work of Customs examiners. Customs officials functioned like dockside ontologists, assigning objects to categories for purposes of tariff duties. In doing so, they paid extensive attention to the nature, weight, composition, and marking of these objects, apprenticing themselves to the material properties of the commodities that passed through their jurisdiction. Their methods of reading were governed by object rather than text and were hence object-oriented.

The article presents the comparative analysis results of body weight composition and physical fitness of 17-18-year-old students who are engaged in sports and not engaged in sports. Students with a higher volume of physical activity have a higher content of active cell mass, water in the body (by 1.62 % and 3.31%, respectively), a lower body mass index, and the content of total and visceral fat (by 1.59%, 4.98% and 1.44%, respectively). There is a high correlation with a higher level of physical fitness. For all seven motor tests that characterize the development of basic conditioning and coordination abilities, the indicators of athletes are higher. In general, 27.2 % of female athletes have an above-average level of physical fitness, the average level was found in 54.45 % and below the average in 18.18 %. It is significantly higher than the same indicators for non-sports students.
