Pharmaceutical chemistry is focused on quality aspects of medicines and aims to assure fitness for the purpose of medicinal products. With centuries medicinal chemistry had emerged as a magnanimous field of science getting a facelift from the available natural compounds for synthesis of newer and complex molecules possessing medicinal activity while the transit from the earth to a synthetically furnished laboratory. Medicinal chemistry or pharmaceutical chemistry is a discipline at the intersection of chemistry and pharmacology involved with designing, synthesizing and developing pharmaceutical drugs. Chalconesis a generic term given to compounds bearing the 1,3-diarylprop2-en-1-one, which can be functionlized in the propane chain by the presence of olefinic, keto and/or hydroxyl group. Chalcones belongs to the flavonoid family. Chemically chalcones consisted of open chain flavonoids in which the two aromaticrings are joined by a three carbon a,ß-unsaturated carbonyl system (Dhar, 1981). Microorganisms are a heterogeneous group of several distinct classes of living beings. They were classified under third kingdom, theProstita. Based on differences in cellular organization and biochemistry, the kingdom prostita has been divided into two groups, Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes. Bacteria and blue green algae are prokaryotes while fungi, other algae, slime moulds and protozoa are eukaryotes. Anti-fungal drugs are among the most frequently prescribed preparations because of their fungal activity. They are widely used for the treatment of the fungal diseases such as Candidiasis and Apergillosis. These agents prevent from fungal infection. Anti-oxidant drugs are among the most frequently prescribed preparations prevent Oxidation.

In the last 2-3 decades, the broad research in the application of benzimidazole derivatives made it important for mankind. Many scientists have worked on benzimidazole derivatives and they found that this compound has a diverse role in the field of medicinal chemistry. Few benzimidazole derivatives are currently in the market as a drug candidate against various diseases. Moreover, the benzimidazole derivatives exhibit pharmacological activities such as anti-tuberculosis, anti-malarial, antihistamine, antimicrobial, antiviral, antidiabetic, anticancer, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-HIV, etc. In this review, we have summarized various derivatives of benzimidazole which have been prepared by many researchers to understand the chemistry as well as diverse pharmacological activities. These findings may lead the scientists who are working in the field of medicinal chemistry to the development of benzimidazole based drug candidates in the future.

Synthesis of Schiff bases from different types of aromatic aldehyde and 3-amino-2- napthol-4-sulphonic acid and then prepared the Co (II), Zn (II) complexes. Metal complexes of Schiff bases have occupied a central role in the development of coordination Chemistry. A number of verities of stable chemical species have been synthesized, containing transition metal and multifarious ligand. Metal complexes of Schiff base shows the strong anti fungicidal, anti bacterial activity, anti viral infection, anticancer, herbicides, plant growth regulators and anti covulsants . Metal complexes also find a wide applications in the field of industrial chemistry, analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, agricultural chemistry and bioorganic chemistry. Recently hetrocyclic such as 2 ‘al’ pyrrol, 2 ‘al’ furan, 2 ‘al’ thiophen and aromatic aldehyde, there metal Zn (II), Co (II) complexes have also gained a focal position in bioinorganic field and frequently used as antifungal, plant growth regulators and anticancer.

Cordyceps is a rare naturally occurring entomopathogenic fungus usually found at high altitudes on the Himalayan plateau and a well-known medicinal mushroom in traditional Chinese medicine. Cordyceps contains various bioactive components, out of which, cordycepin is considered most vital, due to its utmost therapeutic as well as nutraceutical potential. Moreover, the structure similarity of cordycepin with adenosine makes it an important bioactive component, with difference of only hydroxyl group, lacking in the 3′ position of its ribose moiety. Cordycepin is known for various nutraceutical and therapeutic potential, such as anti-diabetic, anti-hyperlipidemia, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antioxidant, anti-aging, anticancer, antiviral, hepato-protective, hypo-sexuality, cardiovascular diseases, antimalarial, anti-osteoporotic, anti-arthritic, cosmeceutical etc. which makes it a most valuable medicinal mushroom for helping in maintaining good health. In this review, effort has been made to bring altogether the possible wide range of cordycepin’s nutraceutical potential along with its pharmacological actions and possible mechanism. Additionally, it also summarizes the details of cordycepin based nutraceuticals predominantly available in the market with expected global value. Moreover, this review will attract the attention of food scientists, nutritionists, pharmaceutical and food industries to improve the use of bioactive molecule cordycepin for nutraceutical purposes with commercialization to aid and promote healthy lifestyle, wellness and wellbeing.

As part of continuing studies on the structural features responsible for the intense sweetness of D-fructose, 3-deoxy-D-erythro-hexulose (3-deoxy-D-fructose, 1) was prepared, its solution composition was determined, and its taste was evaluated. In aqueous solution, 3-deoxy-D-fructose exists as a complex mixture of five tautomeric forms in which the β-D-pyranose form is preponderant (52.5% at 22 °C) and the α-D-pyranose form is the least abundant (5%). Quite remarkable is the behavior of the open-chain keto form of 1: its content increases from 7.5% at 22 °C, to 36% at 82 °C, and to 47% at 97 °C, making this form the preponderant one at high temperatures. 3-Deoxy-D-fructose was found to be sweet, albeit probably not as sweet as D-fructose. The hydroxyl group at C-3 is thus not an essential function of the glycophore of D-fructose. The significance of this result is discussed in relation to the evidence already available and the divergent theories that have been proposed to explain the origin of the sweet taste of D-fructose. Keywords: 3-deoxy-D-erythro-hexulose (3-deoxy-D-fructose), sweetness, solution composition.
