Background: Hepatic jaundice results from abnormal metabolism of bilirubin in the liver. The main hepatic jaundice causes are severe damage to hepatocytes due to autoimmune diseases, infectious diseases, drugs/ medication induced, or, less commonly, hereditary genetic diseases. Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of hepatitis B Virus (HBV), hepatitis A virus (HAV), and hepatitis C virus (HCV), in patients with hepatic jaundice as causes of acute viral hepatitis (AVH) in Sana'a city, Yemen. Subjects and Methods: Data of patients with hepatic jaundice tested for hepatitis B surface antigen, total anti-HCV antibody, and anti-HAV immunoglobulin M (IgM) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were collected from Class I Viral Diagnostic Laboratories in Sana'a for 3 years. Then the statistical analysis of the data was used where the descriptive analysis was calculated: frequency and percentage, as well as the association of infection with sex and age group by means of detection odds ratio, 95% CI and X2 more than 3.9 and P<0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results: The study included 644 males (43.8%) and 826 females (56.2%), while most patients were less than 21 years old. The rate of Hepatitis viruses positive was 27.6% positive. Hepatitis A virus infection was the most common virus diagnosed accounting for 259 cases (17.6% of the total), while HBV was less common with 104 (7.1%) and HCV only 42 cases (2.9%). The highest incidence of hepatitis B was in 11-20 years patients (18.2%), with an associated OR 9.3 (p < 0.0001). The highest incidence of hepatitis C was in 31-40 years patients (7.3%), with an associated OR 3.3 (p<0.0001). Conclusion:  Alarmingly changing the epidemiology and dynamics of hepatitis A-C viruses in Yemen, a detailed study is required to understand the definite disease problem caused by these viruses. It is noticeable in this study the high prevalence of hepatitis A virus and hepatitis B virus in the Yemeni population with hepatic jaundice. Cancer is a serious disease with an increasing number of reported cases and high mortality worldwide. Gastrointestinal cancer defines a group of cancers in the digestive system, e.g., liver cancer, colorectal cancer, and gastric cancer. Coptidis Rhizoma (C. Rhizoma; Huanglian, in Chinese) is a classical Chinese medicinal botanical drug for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders and has been shown to have a wide variety of pharmacological activity, including antifungal, antivirus, anticancer, antidiabetic, hypoglycemic, and cardioprotective effects. Recent studies on C. Rhizoma present significant progress on its anticancer effects and the corresponding mechanisms as well as its clinical applications. Herein, keywords related to C. Rhizoma, cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, and omics were searched in PubMed and the Web of Science databases, and more than three hundred recent publications were reviewed and discussed. C. Rhizoma extract along with its main components, berberine, palmatine, coptisine, magnoflorine, jatrorrhizine, epiberberine, oxyepiberberine, oxyberberine, dihydroberberine, columbamine, limonin, and derivatives, are reviewed. We describe novel and classic anticancer mechanisms from various perspectives of pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, and pharmaceutics. Researchers have transformed the chemical structures and drug delivery systems of these components to obtain better efficacy and bioavailability of C. Rhizoma. Furthermore, C. Rhizoma in combination with other drugs and their clinical application are also summarized. Taken together, C. Rhizoma has broad prospects as a potential adjuvant candidate against cancers, making it reasonable to conduct additional preclinical studies and clinical trials in gastrointestinal cancer in the future.

Introduction. The use of certified reference materials (CRMs) ensures metrological traceability and comparability of analysis results performed in different laboratories, by different analysts, at different times. Genistein is a promising substance with a wide spectrum of pharmacological action. genistein is widely used in dietary supplements. Development of regulatory documents for CRM of genistein will ensure the quality of drugs and dietary supplements.Aim. Aim of our study is to improve of the ways of synthesis and determination of spectrum characteristics of genistein for the certification of CRM.Materials and methods. We used synthetic genistein, (Ph.D. V. Yu. Kovtun SPC "Pharmzashchita") (sample № 1) and genistein synthesized and studied at the departments of pharmaceutical chemistry and chemical technology of medicinal substances SPCPU (sample № 2). Infrared spectra of genistein samples were collected on an FSM 1201 infrared Fourier spectrometer (OOO Infraspek, Russia) via KBr pellets technique. All the spectra were collected in the 4000–500 cm−1 range. The NMR (1H and 13C) measurements were performed with a BrukerAvance III NMR spectrometer (400 and 100 MHz) (Bruker, Germany) in DMSO-d6 solvent. Raman spectra were recorded by an ORTES-785TRS-2700 analytical Raman scattering system at a laser power of 100 mW (OPTEC JSC, Russia). Laser interaction time was 5, 10, 20 and 60 seconds. The results were processed using the software "BWSpec 4.10_4", USA. GC-MS was performed on an Agilent Technologies 7890A gas chromatograph (Agilent Technologies, USA) with a 7693 autoinjector and a Hewlett Packard 5975C mass selective detector.Results and discussion. The synthesis was carried out according to the developer's method. The stage "removal of the alkyl protection" has been improved. The spectra of the synthesis intermediate of genistein (biochanin A) correspond to the literature data. Samples of genistein were investigated by methods: MC and NMR 13С, 1Н. The structure of the investigated substance was confirmed; Raman and IR spectroscopy showed that the spectra of the samples do not differ from each other and there are no additional signals.Conclusion. The spectrum characteristics of samples of genistein were obtained by NMR, IR and Raman spectroscopy, which will be used in the regulatory documentation for CRM of genistein. All of this will make it possible to control the quality of medicines based on it and to identify substandard dietary supplements.

The peculiar aspect that emerges from the study of Orchidaceae is the presence of various molecules, which are particularly interesting for pharmaceutical chemistry due to their wide range of biological resources. The aim of our study was to investigate the properties of two dihydrophenanthrenes, isolated, for the first time, from Himantoglossum robertianum (Loisel.) P. Delforge (Orchidaceae) bulbs and roots. Chemical and spectroscopic study of the bulbs and roots of Himantoglossum robertianum (Loisel.) P. Delforge resulted in the isolation of two known dihydrophenanthrenes—loroglossol and hircinol—never isolated from this plant species. The structures were evaluated based on 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and two-dimensional spectra, and by comparison with the literature. These two molecules have been tested for their possible antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiproliferative, and proapoptotic activities. In particular, it has been shown that these molecules cause an increase in the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione S-transferase (GST) in polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN); show antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, and have anti-proliferative effects on gastric cancer cell lines, inducing apoptosis effects. Therefore, these two molecules could be considered promising candidates for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical preparations.

Aim: The recent analysis is required to do novel and simple, sensitive, precise, efficient, instant and reproducible reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) method for estimation of antidiabetic drug in the unit dosage form. Validation of this method is also planned to make it suitable for the actual use. Study Design: Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences deemed to be university, Wardha in collaboration with Balkh university, Mazar-e-sharif, Afghanistan between August 2021 and December 2021. Methodology: In that article develop the method and validate it by estimation of antidiabetic drugs in solid dosage form by RP-HPLC, by using System suitability test, Repeatability, Precision studies (Intra-day and Interday/Intermediate), Linearity/Calibration studies, Robustness, Force degradation, Specificity, Drug recovery/accuracy studies. Results: as per ICH guidelines, the performance if system suitability in remogliflozin were achieved all guidelines; in that, tailing factor (T),separation factors(α),theoretical plates(N),capacity  factor (k’), resolution (R) and RSD (%). The validated stress degradation studies under thermal, oxidative, alkali and acid, in few degradation products for remogliflozin (REM). Conclusion: From the results we conclude that, this novel technique which validated for exploration by reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) should be used for routine quality control of remogliflozin (REM) prediction from developed formulation.

The 29th Annual GP2A (Group for the Promotion of Pharmaceutical chemistry in Academia) Conference was a virtual event this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and spanned three days from Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 August 2021. The meeting brought together an international delegation of researchers with interests in medicinal chemistry and interfacing disciplines. Abstracts of keynote lectures given by the 10 invited speakers, along with those of the 8 young researcher talks and the 50 flash presentation posters, are included in this report. Like previous editions, the conference was a real success, with high-level scientific discussions on cutting-edge advances in the fields of pharmaceutical chemistry.

A study was carried out to identify differences in training of resident physicians in the specialties: Management and Economics of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy and under the specialist’s program Pharmacy and to explore the possibilities of granting pharmacy workers the right to transit from one specialty to another without compulsory completion of residency. The urgency of this article is associated with a large number of issues that are being faced by pharmacists who transit from one specialty to another.An analysis of the age and occupational structure of pharmacists improving their qualifications (2300 people) was conducted in the Irkutsk region and the Trans-Baikal Territory. The results of the study showed that it seems like a good idea not to associate the transition from one specialty to another with the obligatory completion of residency, but to provide an admission to work as a pharmacist-technologist after initial accreditation, taking into account the specifics of the work of pharmaceutical specialists in pharmacies, the need to ensure the interchangeability of workers and reduce staff turnover without falling off in quality of work.
