This paper discusses the development of E-saving glass (ESG) in Malaysia by using quality function deployment (QFD) method for market transformation. This paper focuses on two objectives, i.e., (i) to investigate the suitability of the ESG in Malaysian market for customer satisfaction, product quality and manufacturer competitiveness by using systematic tools of QFD process, and (ii) the implementation of ESG by looking at factors analysis based on QFD method and Malaysian market transformation. The QFD method is utilised by a multidisciplinary team to translate a set of customer requirements (the “voice of customer” (VOC)), market research and technical benchmarking data into an appropriate number of prioritised engineering targets that could be met by a new product design.

To design a new product for fire extinguishing equipment, knowledge about customer requirements for selecting suitable characteristics is required. And Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is proposed as an effective design method to addresses the translation of customer requirements into product functional characteristics. So this paper describes an extension of QFD method aimed at representing customer needs, technological requirements, environmental impacts and their relationships with the product functionality during the conceptual design phase. At last this method could help designers to design a new conceptual product for fire extinguishing equipment.

It is important that SMEs are able to prioritize business quality by identifying business requirements based on customer requirements. This strategy is able to help SMEs generate innovation in the form of improved business quality activities to meet customer requirements. This approach uses the “quality function deployment (QFD)” method to identify the priority business requirements and improvement actions to generate business quality. As a result, we managed to identify five priority variable business requirements (BReqs) based on seven variable customer requirements (CReqs) with the lowest satisfaction score. We proposed some improvement actions in perspective quality based on five priority business requirements. Moreover, the final quality matrix of business quality improvement priority generally makes it easier for users to read and find out which variables need to be improved. This research also presents a solution so that users can perform business actions effectively and efficiently in allocating their resources.

This research aimed to determine the needs and wants of production and management team to improve the machine and performance maintenance. Voice of the Customer (VOC) method was used to capture the needs and wants of production and management team. Meanwhile, the method of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) was used to translate the needs and wants of production and management to the technical requirement that should be done to improve machine and performance maintenance. Moreover, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) was a part of technical requirement. From the result, it is known that long breakdown machine, huge inventory of spare part, and high cost of maintenance become the first of priority of maintenance team to achieve customer satisfaction. To develop the performance maintenance, the company should standardize the procedure, identify the critical spare part, reduce the time to purchase critical spare part, and increase lifetime of spare part.

The research aimed to ensure the right design of new products based on customer needs and to improve competitiveness based on renewal marketing strategies and customer needs in the car seat industry. Customer satisfaction ratings were used to compare with competitors. Then, the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) was implemented for the analysis. The research used total sampling or complete enumeration. So, the sample size was the same as the population size. Based on calculations using the QFD method, it shows that the seat option has the highest percentage of technical requirements in the car seat industry around 27,39%. The second factor is material about 25,94%, and the third factor is the damping characteristic about 19,17%. For continuous quality improvement in the future, a lot of customer needs regarding the seat car need to be developed.

Quality function deployment (QFD) can provide a means of translating customer requirements (CRs) into engineering characteristics (ECs) for each stage of product development and production. The main objective of QFD-based product planning is to determine the target levels of ECs for a new product or service. QFD is a breakthrough tool which can effectively reduce the gap between CRs and a new product/service. Even though there are conflicts among some ECs, the objective of developing new product is to maximize the overall customer satisfaction. Therefore, there may be room for cooperation among ECs. A cooperative game framework combined with fuzzy set theory is developed to determine the target levels of the ECs in QFD. The key to develop the model is the formulation of the bargaining function. In the proposed methodology, the players are viewed as the membership functions of ECs to formulate the bargaining function. The solution for the proposed model is Pareto-optimal. An illustrated example is cited to demonstrate the application and performance of the proposed approach.

In the industrial environment, there are more and more rooms that are rented out for workers and families, and the cupboard is one of the products that is often needed is a cupboard. Storage aids should be designed for safe, comfortable, ergonomic, and aesthetic use. Multi-functional wardrobes are an important aspect of storage and space-saving work. Multi-functional wardrobe designs have developed, both in terms of form and function. However, along with the development of the times, there are demands for additional functions from existing multi-functional cabinets. Based on this background, this study aims to design and manufacture multi-functional wardrobe products according to consumers' requirements. For this research's success, the Kano method and the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) are used. The results obtained show 18 attributes (customer requirements) and 18 attributes (technical response) technical parameters implemented in a multi-functional wardrobe product design. The addition of functions to this multi-functional wardrobe product is a wardrobe with 2 (two) functions and 1 (accessories) additional in one product, which can be used as a cupboard, table, and table along with a chair. In operation, it is effortless because it has a knock-down system (can be folded). When used as a table, there are chairs on the right and left sides of the cabinet door that can be removed.

Abstract Purpose: The objective of successful companies is the integration of customer requirements in the development process of a new product. Therefore, the Quality Function Deployment method has proven useful several times. The customer requirements often contain contradictions, which are mostly solved by compromises. The aim should be to integrate all customers’ demands and wishes into future products. Methodology: The theory of inventive problem solving can be applied to eliminate compromises in the product development. The method’s different tools enable a goal-oriented and systematic conflict resolution and may help to uncover trends. This paper displays an approach where individual tools of TRIZ are integrated into the Quality Function Deployment. Results: The result of this work is the presentation of the resulting benefits from combining the two methods. For this reason, individual tools of TRIZ are used in different points of the QFD process. The paper shows examples of starting points. Value of paper: In the context of this paper, the benefits from the interaction of QFD and TRIZ are presented. These are particularly evident in the initial phase of project implementation. In this phase the goal of the QFD process is to succeed in translating the voice of the customer for the company and then integrating it into the product development.
