Game replayability is very important in serious game to maximize the understanding for the learning content. The replayability is the result from the gameplay experience. Games have the advantage of providing a fun experience, and immersion is a vital element in game design to produce the experience. However, the design of immersion in games is often not well conceptualized so that it does not produce the expected experience. This study uses Appreciative Learning based reward system, which focuses on positive things such as peak achievements, opportunities, exploration of potential and optimism for the future. The reward activity consists of four stages, namely Discovery, Dream, Design and Destiny. Reward personalization is done by regulating reward behavior using artificial intelligence which runs in all four stages. Appreciative Learning will be used to design immersive experiences consisting of sensory, imaginary and challenge-based immersion, which are the three main elements of immersive games. Intelligent agent behavior is modeled using the Finite State Machine. This study produces an immersive reward design that is applied to the concept of Appreciative Learning in designing a serious game.

Perkembangan dunia yang dinamis mendorong percepatan perkembangan teknologi dan informasi. Dengan dorongan tersebut komputer yang dulunya dibuat hanya untuk membantu pekerjaan manusia sekarang berkembang menjadi sarana hiburan, permainan, komunikasi dan lain sebagainya. Dalam sektor hiburan salah satu industri yang sedang menjadi pusat perhatian adalah industri video game. Begitu banyaknya produk video game asing yang masuk ke dalam negeri ini memberikan tantangan kepada bangsa ini. Tentunya video game asing yang masuk ke negara ini membawa banyak unsur kebudayaan negara lain. Ini semakin membuat kebudayaan nusantara semakin tergeserkan dengan serangan kebudayaan asing melalui berbagai media. Maka dari itu peneliti mencoba untuk menerapkan Finite State Machine dalam merancang sebuah video game RPG (Role-Playing game) yang memperkenalkan kebudayaan. Dalam perancangan video game ini peneliti menggunakan metode GDLC(Game Development Life Cycle) agar penelitian ini berjalan secara sistematis. Dalam suatu perancangan video game tedapat banyak elemen, pada penelitian ini penulis lebih fokus pada pengendalian animasi karakter yang dimainkan pada video game ini. Dari perancangan yang dilakukan, disimpulkan bahwa Finite State Machine dapat digunakan untuk pengendalian animasi yang baik pada video game RPG. Diharapkan video game ini dapat menjadi salah satu media untuk mengenalkan kebudayaan nusantara

Permainan memiliki efek positif dalam mendukung kemampuan motorik seseorang untuk berkembang. Salah satu bahasan menarik dalam permainan adalah simulasi bisnis yang memiliki kategori serious game untuk dijadikan alternatif media pembelajaran dalam memahami konsep dasar bisnis dan aktivitas akuntansi. Gameplay dibuat dengan menciptakan artificial bisnis level UKM yang melakukan aktivitas jual beli, dimana di dalamnya terdapat game world, pelanggan dan toko yang berinteraksi untuk menghasilkan fenomena sebuah pasar. Aktivitas jual beli menjadi dasar siklus akuntansi untuk pemain belajar dan memahami kejadian finansial. Setiap agent diberi attribute yang digunakan sebagai parameter untuk membentuk personality-trait dan pengambilan keputusan pembelian serta aktivitas yang membentuk tingkah laku sehari - hari melalui State Machine dan Rule Based System (RBS). Simulasi perilaku konsumen dalam pasar virtual digunakan sebagai trigger aktivitas utama bisnis yaitu transaksi penjualan. Kejadian finansial yang terjadi dari proses simulasi menghasilkan proses jurnal untuk memberikan pemain pengalaman dalam memproses transaksi dengan contoh sumber aktivitas buatan.Kata Kunci: Serious Game, Perilaku Konsumen, Agent-based Model, A Star, Stack Finite State Machine, Rule-Based System.

Sosialisasi bencana masih mengalami beberapa kendala antara lain kesulitan bila dilakukan secara offfline, mengingat untuk sosialisasi offline membutuhkan waktu khusus, memerlukan persiapan yang lama dan memerlukan alokasi dana khusus. Makalah ini memberikan sebuah pendekatan baru berupa sosialisasi bencana dalam bentuk serious game. Sehingga dinamakan serious game sosialisasi bencana. Dalam mendesain serious game sosialisasi bencana, menggunakan model teori aktivitas utnuk serious game dan tahapan sosialisasi bencana sebagaimana di isyaratkan dalam undang-undang tentang penanggulangan bencana dan diuraikan pusat vulkanologi dan mitigasi bencana geologi. Untuk membuat sebuah serious game dibutuhkan pula metode finite state machine untuk memudahkan mesin mengatur permainan. Visualisasi juga di rancang untuk menunjukkan capaian yang diperoleh pemain agar lebih menarik.

Educational game is a game that raises local wisdom in which there are values of local wisdom that can be remembered and implemented by users in everyday life. in this educational game made in accordance with the rules needed in the world of education. starting from the elements of game design and techniques used in making games. This application was built using MDLC (Multimedia Development Live Cycle) combined with FSM (Finite State Machine) so that this educational game is very easy to understand and understand by users, especially millennial generation. after the socialization to the millennial generation there was an increase in understanding of the local wisdom of Bogor, especially the Kujang and the batik of Bogor.

Background. Relatively little is known about the role of educators in serious game design and development and their experiences with serious game implementation. We investigate educators’ perceived challenges deriving from their involvement as subject matter experts during the serious game development trajectory. Methods. A secondary analysis of data collected through an exploratory survey about serious game design and development approaches was carried out. The sample included 41 educators from post-secondary education institutions across North America. An in-depth analysis of qualitative data revealed educators’ roles in game development, the challenges they faced, and the strategies they deployed in serious game design, development, and implementation. Results. Educators, as serious game designers, perceived challenges to be administrative, design-related, attitudinal, and communicative. Strategies deployed to overcome challenges during the concept development, pre-production, and production stages of game design include the creation of games that balance learning and fun, and enhanced team collaboration through cultural mediation. During the post-production stage, although challenges are acknowledged and some strategies, such as improving the usability of a game, are deployed, a clear pattern in challenges and mitigating strategies could not be observed. Conclusion. Serious game design and development can be improved by nurturing diversity of ideas and adopting creative design and development methodologies. Serious game implementation can be improved by devising effective administrative and attitudinal strategies, and incorporating diversity of ideas into target curricula. Additionally, clear directives about usability should be devised, and academic objectivity towards serious games needs to be be created. Strategies to achieve these goals should focus on developing trust between target users, the technical development team, and educators as serious game implementers.

This chapter presents the embedded authentic serious game-based learning experiences (EASLE) architecture which has been developed to assist in the definition of games-based applications. The motivation behind the design of EASLE is to keep game specifications as simple and focused as possible for educators attempting to create serious games as current available game design methodologies and templates are complex and extensive. Furthermore, it is argued that games created with EASLE reduce the amount of game development work to be done by the educator allowing for deeper collaboration between students. Toward the end of this chapter a game developed with EASLE which took two weeks to complete is presented.


Pengetahuan beragama Katolik sangatlah penting karena menjadi sebuah sarana dalam menjadi manusia yang beriman, toleransi, memahami ajaran cinta kasih, bermoral, dan bertaqwa kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa. Selain memperdalam materi agama Katolik lewat retret, sekolah minggu, dan lain-lain, pembelajaran juga dapat dilakukan dengan game. Game edukasi dirancang sebagai sarana pendidikan dengan menyisipkan materi pembelajaran untuk mengajarkan user suatu pembelajaran, pemahaman dan untuk melatih kemampuan pengguna yang memainkannya. Metode perancangan menggunakan metode Finite State Machine. metode pengembangan menggunakan metode pengembangan Game Development Life Cycle. Teknik permodelan menggunakan UML (Unified Modeling Language). Game menggunakan bahasa pemrograman Construct 2. Pengujian menggunakan uji kelayakan, untuk mendapatkan masukkan secara publik maka game ini akan direview oleh 15 responden. Instrument untuk membagikan kuisioner akan dibagikan dengan google forms. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah perancangan game edukasi pendidikan agama Katolik sudah dapat menghasilkan output yang diharapkan yaitu memberikan fitur tingkat difficulty easy dan normal, animasi, game kuis pertanyaan, dan menyusun doa yang dapat dijalankan pada PC (personal computer).

Game is an application that infers human behavior into software, and players who play the game feel they are entering the game world. Games can be used as a medium for information and education. The current rise of Covid-19 requires every individual to implement health protocols in their daily life. This term is called new normal. New normal is a change in behavior to continue carrying out normal activities but with the addition of implementing health protocols to prevent Covid-19 transmission. Unfortunately, in everyday life, the application of the new normal is less effective so that in one area, new cases have emerged and the PSBB must be re-applied. The new normal themed educational game can be a fun information medium for the community, with the New Normal After Pandemic educational game, it is hoped that it can educate the public in implementing health protocol rules. This game was created using Construct 2 software because it is based on HTML 5 which is specifically for 2D platforms. 2D designs are created using Corel Draw X7, Easy Paint Tools SAI and Adobe Photoshop. The final result of this study is a game application that applies the FSM (Finite State Machine) control system design method in each level rule and uses the Agile Scrum system development method with a process of 2x sprint iterations
