Background:Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been recommended as the best tool to improve construction processes by many researchers. However, most construction companies do not adopt BIM because there are many limitations slowing BIM adoption.Objective:The aim of this paper is to investigate the factors that limit BIM implementation in the construction industry.Methods:To investigate the research objectives, a quantitative approach was adopted and a structured questionnaire was designed. A total of sixty-eight copies of the questionnaire were distributed and sixty-five of them were satisfactorily completed, making the total response rate = 95.58%. Snowball sampling method helped to obtain a high rate of response and thus increase accuracy.Results and Conclusion:BIM limitation factors were divided into five categories. The results illustrated that the personnel category was ranked as the most important, while the legal category was ranked as the least important. Findings showed that requirement of large culture change within the organization, lack of senior management support, lack of knowledge on how to implement BIM, lack of staff experience and skills, and need to change in workflows to comply with the new requirements were ranked as the most important factors that obstacle BIM implementation.

The emerging of new Information Communication Technology (ICT) technology namely Building Information Modeling been proven benefits toward construction industry. As a result, the list of BIM software available in the market is keep increasing in recent years. This has led to the selection problem among construction companies. Moreover, the selection BIM software also required high investment in term of software, hard ware and training expenses. These aforementioned issues have increased the complexities of decision process and the need of decision aid in BIM software selection. Thus, this paper has introduced a new approach in MCDMDSS web development by utilization of Web 2.0 application. The rapid development of Information technology has highly benefit to the development of web based DSS. The design and validation architecture of a web base DSS called topsis4BIM for Building Information Modeling (BIM) is presented.

There takes place an intensive integration of building information modeling (BIM) in the activities of design and construction companies of the Russian Federation, including the hydraulic engineering segment. Existing software systems for building information modeling are not adapted for the design of marine engineering. This article is devoted to the study of the problem and the development of specialized solutions in this area (new or based on the existing software).The process of creating a hydraulic engineering pilot project, including the necessary libraries of basic elements, is considered. An enlarged plan for the integration of BIM to the marine engineering is proposed.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has revolutionized the construction industry. Currently, it is impossible to imagine the industry without this fundamentally new approach to building design and working with documentation. The integration of design, construction, approval and monitoring processes through BIM is an effective way to improve the economic, environmental and other key performance indicators of construction companies, and thus increase their competitive advantages. However, it is too early to talk about the widespread transition of industry organizations to BIM. This article describes the advantages of information modeling technologies and the complexity of their implementation in the workflow.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is gaining attention worldwide due to its assistances during the entire building’s construction life cycle covering all phases of project from commencement to accomplishment. BIM integrates different disciplines by effective communication, analyzes the project systems for constructability, estimates the cost and time of projects at any time using quantity takeoffs. Notwithstanding that fact Pakistan like other developing countries is lagging in Building Information Modeling (BIM) adoption. To facilitate the adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the AEC industry, the purpose of this research study is to identify the important factors for BIM adoption among construction engineers of Pakistan to carry out the awareness. It is found statistically that Building Information Modeling (BIM) capability is most important factors for the adoption of BIM among the construction engineers in Pakistan having the factors of motivation and management support which positively effect on BIM adoption in Pakistan. The trainings are very important to increase the BIM adoption in the industry.

Although the literature revealed the challenges and drivers to implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the building design industry in general, to date, there are few established methods and processes to overcome challenges of BIM adoption in building design, especially in sustainable building design for managing the project. At the present, BIM adoption in building design at micro level, that is, the level of architects, mainly focuses on barriers with little attention to method and the process of implementing BIM. Moreover, there is lack of a robust research method, that is, mixed method, to systematically investigate the process of implementing micro-level BIM in building design, which is related to the factors, such as challenges and drivers to the challenges of BIM adoption. Furthermore, several studies have looked into micro-level BIM adoption in architecture firms, but few of them focused on sustainable design. This emphasizes a need to investigate and explore micro-level BIM implementation challenges alongside its drivers in building design and present methods and processes generated from architects’ perspectives to address the challenges during sustainable design for the project management, which is the aim of this paper. The research investigation was through a questionnaire that is followed by interviews with the leading architectural firms within the UK. The research reported in this paper is to present a clear view of challenges to micro-level BIM adoption and a framework/road-map to address the key challenges in managing sustainable building design projects, which are related to cultural resistance and culture change, top-down management support, current key challenges and drivers, and client and project managers’ interests. The methods and processes that enhanced the framework can be instantly adopted for building design and for architectural companies including small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The use of building information modeling (BIM) in the Czech Republic is currently at the stage of being slowly established in the Czech building environment. From the viewpoint of applicability in the building industry, the issues of BIM in the Czech Republic are very desirable, mainly because of ever-increasing pressure on the sustainability of construction. This approach is gradually used by some, often multinational, construction companies. The article focuses on finding the possible optimization of approach to the planning and operation of buildings in terms of the energy sustainability of buildings.

Non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques play an important role in the characterization and diagnosis of historic buildings, keeping in mind their conservation and possible rehabilitation. This paper presents a new approach that merges building information modeling (BIM) with environment geospatial data obtained by several non-destructive techniques, namely terrestrial laser scanning, ground-penetrating radar, infrared thermography, and the automatic classification of pathologies based on RGB (red, green, blue) imaging acquired with an unmanned aircraft system (UAS). This approach was applied to the inspection of the Monastery of Batalha in Leiria, Portugal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To assess the capabilities of each technique, different parts of the monastery were examined, namely (i) part of its west façade, including a few protruding buttresses, and (ii) the masonry vaults of the Church (nave, right-hand aisle, and transept) and the Founder’s Chapel. After describing the employed techniques, a discussion of the optimization, treatment and integration of the acquired data through the BIM approach is presented. This work intends to contribute to the application of BIM in the field of cultural heritage, aiming at its future use in different activities such as facility management, support in the restoration and rehabilitation process, and research.

The construction process and construction management are highly reliant on the interaction between the triple constraints of project management of quality: scope, time, and cost. The industry has incorporated certain principles and technology, such as lean-based construction principles and Building Information Modeling (BIM), to maximize the time, quality, and cost-efficiency of various construction projects. Analysis and assessment of the factors and functionalities are needed to show their synergic relationships and determine their significant impact on the construction project using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). To gather information, a survey was conducted on the different construction companies in the Philippines. The results generated a model interrelating the triple constraints of project management and how they are affected by incorporating BIM and lean construction principles. The models created established a significant relationship towards all the tripe constraints considering both individual and combined functionalities and factors. An interdisciplinary framework incorporating both BIM and lean principles is conformed to optimize construction stages based on the triple constraints of project management.


To provide contractual framework for Design-BidBuild (DBB) contract as reference for construction industry in Jordan, this paper aims to discuss the best contractual framework to adopt Building Information Modeling (BIM) under (DBB) approach in construction sector in Jordan. To achieve this aim, scope of comprehensive literature divided in two frameworks is explored. First, the construction sector in Jordan and the others is the building information modeling framework. In this research, a qualitative approach is employed, where 13 semi-structured meetings were implemented with the largest construction companies in Jordanian construction field. The main research' findings revealed that improvements in the DBB contract, adopting BIM officially in contract and improving stakeholders ' relationship are obtained. The study concluded that to adopt BIM process correctly, earlier participation of major stakeholders is essential to enhance the coordination grade, discovering early disputes and decreasing the redesign processes. This in turn, safes efforts, time and cost
