Recently there has been a tremendous effort in greening the tourism industry due to its negative environmental impacts. The efforts of greening the green lodging industry in Malaysia is growing slowly due to the several barriers. The objective of this study is to determine the barriers that slowing the green hotels and resorts operation in Malaysia. This study employed qualitative method using interview technique. Five case studies were chosen and the environmental managers are interviewed. The findings identified 12 barriers. The barriers are categorized under significant, less significant and non-significant barriers that affecting lodging green operation in Peninsular Malaysia.Keywords: Green practice; Barriers; Level of significance; Green operatorseISSN 2398-4279 © 2018. Tourism is a sector that always has a dynamic movement which will benefit the local community. Lumban Suhi-suhi is a tourist village famous for its ulos on Samosir Island that has become one of the tourist attraction. Due to the limitations of facilities arrangement make it becomes less of the attraction itself. Therefore, the environment-based mechanism becomes one of the concepts that will be applied to improve the tourist facilities in which could increase tourists in that area. Edutourism was initiated to benefit from both the booming tourism industry and the growth of education sector in Malaysia. Edutourism is expected affect related sectors positively. However, edutourism activities suffers from various challenges. The study investigates the challenges and barrier faced by public universities in realising edutourism agenda. Primary data was collected through interviews with selected public universities. Among the factors that hinders the development of edutourism are unsuccessful collaboration between university and travel agency as well as university readiness in upholding edutourism agenda. This study contributes to an in-depth understanding of the factors that impede edutourism success. Healthcare SMEs are at risk of sexual harassment in the workplace due to several barriers resulting in medical professionals leaving the workforce and reduced productivity. The paper attempts to bridge the gap between the existing findings in general healthcare with medical tourism settings focusing on the medical tourists' behaviour in the destination country and the behaviour of medical practitioners in healthcare SMEs, who may be exposed to sexual harassment at workplace. Each state in Malaysia interprets asnaf al gharimin differently due to the different ijtihad from the mufti. This study aims to analyze the application of asnaf al gharimin based on Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS). Qualitative method based on interview is used in this article and supported by library research. The finding shows that LZS has focused on four categories of debt to be given zakat aid in the types of asnaf gharimin, including medical/ dialysis treatment assistance, life necessities assistance, management of the corpse without the heir, and debt association due to public concern. Low social ties among society occurred due to the lack of social interaction and civic engagement. The purpose of this paper is to explore the manifestation of Islamic social principles in Kitab Al-Jidar. This qualitative method accomplished the content analysis process. This study found that five (5) social principles in Kitab Al-Jidar has potential to maintain healthy social relations. It is hoped that this paper would infuse awareness among modern society to play their role as a community member in creating a friendly and pleasant environment based on Islamic social principles. This paper attempts to provide and insight into the modernization of Malay food ingredients within Malay communities. Its approach is sociological, using qualitative method of interview and observation, inquiring into the usage of modern food ingredients in the preparation of Malay dishes. Focusing on a small group of consumers in Puncak Alam, Selangor, the findings indicate that the motivation behind choosing modern food ingredients is to save cooking preparation time while improving nutrient intakes.© 2016. Fishermen’s settlements in Belawan Medan tend to form unplanned. Social interaction in this village becomes the basis for the establishment of an unplanned settlement. Qualitative method is used in this research. The society’s social condition in this village offers a challenge in analyzing social influence towards the establishment of the fishing village in Medan City. The purpose of this research is to find the form of the unplanned settlement that occurred. The results of this research will create a theoretical concept related to the forms of a coastal village. This study elaborates the challenges of Green Hotel implementation. The questionnaire is firstly developed in this study but constructed from Green Hotel Guidelines (GHG) measurement items which are issued by Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia. The data collected is analyzed with Importance-Performance Analysis which also known as Gap Analysis as for the results reveal the gap between perception and the expectation of the stakeholders towards Green Hotel along with different understanding on the aspects measured. The Uttarakhand flood of 2013 in India has taken many families’ bread-earner. Usually, the status of Indian widows, especially in North India, is deplorable, associated with social discrimination and economic deprivation. This paper explores the multi-dimensional vulnerabilities of 20 women widowed during this disaster through a qualitative method. The results indicate financial difficulties, despite farming and husbandry activities for subsistence, leading to a lack of education and decent nutrition for children.
