This case study provides an account of how a Vietnamese primary school teacher carried out the task-based versions of the presentation, practice and production (PPP) speaking lessons in an authentic primary school classroom. Data were collected from digital recordings of the lessons, semi-structured interviews, and field notes. Detailed descriptions were made of each of the phases of the videoed lesson and then compared with the field notes. The interview data were analysed manually following an inductive approach to data analysis. The results indicated that the teacher and her students successfully carried out the two redesigned PPP speaking lessons in her normally scheduled classroom. The results point to the feasibility of redesigning the PPP lessons to reflect task-based language teaching (TBLT) principles and of implementing the task-based versions of the PPP speaking lessons in real classrooms.

Opening ParagraphThe following text was the last to be recorded by my Nyoro assistant, Mr. Perezi Mpuru, before his sudden and untimely death in July 1953. I present a full translation of it here because I believe that as well as providing an illuminating picture of some aspects of Nyoro village life, it also vividly illustrates some of the ways in which participation in a new and wider social and economic world can affect the everyday lives of members of an African rural community. The story was told to my assistant over a period of two or three days by a middle-aged man, Yowana, who had been a primary school-teacher. As well as bringing up his own son and daughter, Eriya and Mariya, Yowana had also brought up another boy, Yozefu, who was the son of neighbours who had died, although he still had relatives living some miles away.

Abstract Recent research indicates that using multimodal learning experiences can be effective in teaching mathematics. Using a social semiotic lens within a participationist framework, this paper reports on a professional learning collaboration with a primary school teacher designed to explore the use of metaphors and modalities in mathematics instruction. This video case study was conducted in a year 2 classroom over two terms, with the focus on building children’s understanding of computational strategies. The findings revealed that the teacher was able to successfully plan both multimodal and multiple metaphor learning experiences that acted as semiotic resources to support the children’s understanding of abstract mathematics. The study also led to implications for teaching when using multiple metaphors and multimodalities.

AbstractIn this study, we address the issue of mathematics teachers' personal and professional responsiveness to changing circumstances, such as the shift in external demands made on teacher practice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For investigating a such delicate issue, we take a theoretical approach, which is quite novel in the field of mathematics education: Lacan's psychoanalytical lens. Specifically, we will use this psychoanalytical lens to analyze a case study focusing on a primary school teacher during the first lockdown in Italy, during which school was organized exclusively in the form of distance education. The analysis of the teacher’s crisis and the strategies she adopted to overcome this crisis give some suggestions about possible directions and issues to consider for future mathematics teacher training proposals.

This research is comparation model. The respondens of this research is the college student of Primary School Teacher Education of STKIP Santu Paulus College. The instrument of this research is test. The data analysis which is being used in this research is t sample. This research shows the counting t is higher than t tabel. T counting is 5,826 is higher than t tabel 1,688. It means there is different study result between the college student who attend the conventional class and the college student who attend the PHRKK. Furhtermore, this different shows in average of the the result study of conventional study which is 67,08 comparing to  average college student PHRKK which is 68,39., the counting t is higher than t tabel. T counting is 5,826 is higher than t tabel 1,688. It means there is different study result between the college student who attend the conventional class and the college student who attend the PHRKK class on the topic of  Uji Komparasi Sampel Dependent.

Introduction. Different international organisms, including UNESCO, insist on the importance of collaborative teamwork to face today’s challenges. This skill should be fostered from the early stages of education, and consequently, it is particularly important that Primary School teacher training institutions draw up proposals and implement new practices which include this type of work. This paper attempts to describe how a group of Primary School teachers perceive cooperative learning based on their interview responses.Method. The methodology is based on a qualitative and descriptive approach using semi-structured interviews. The interview content was analysed using the content analysis procedure. The sample included 48 Primary School teachers in the Madrid area who had been interviewed previously.Results. The teachers’ opinions refer to three key aspects: evaluation of the cooperative learning competence; action taken by teachers related to this competence; training received in this competence. The research findings suggest that teamwork is seldom used, and when it is used, this is basically for motivational reasons. The low importance given to this competence in initial teacher training is also mentioned.Conclusion. The results suggest that the potential of collaborative work to facilitate learning and manage diversity is not generally understood.
