This study employs resource orchestration model to investigate the influence of country manager’s competence on subsidiary performance in host country. Structural equation model with multisteps approach is operated using Lisrel to analyze 41 data from Indonesian business unit operating in Nigeria. This study found that country managers uses subsidiary absorptive capacity, which is formed by the combination of headquarter and local partner resources, as the dominant source of learning to develop their competence overtime. This competence does not directly influence subsidiary performance, but it is notably used to accumulate the critical assets for their subordinate business units. These assets then become valuable inputs for business units to develop or modify their operational capabilities, which directly influence the performance. One contribution of this study is providing more detail explanation of how headquarter resources invested abroad are transformed into subsidiary performance.

ABSTRACT Both control and creativity are important drivers of organizational success (Gilson, Mathieu, Shalley, and Ruddy 2005; Hirst, van Knippenberg, Chen, and Sacramento 2011). However, they are often regarded as conflicting. We use the Levers of Control (LoC) framework to examine the relationships between a system of controls, empowerment, and creativity. Using survey data from 233 business unit managers, a structural equation model shows that the intensity of use of a LoC system of controls is positively associated with both empowerment and creativity. This suggests that the LoC system provides an environment that is rich with information and motivates employees to take action in purposeful, directed ways. This environment facilitates employees' perception that they have the ability to take actions, make decisions, and produce novel ideas. We conclude that there is not a conflict between control and creativity per se. Rather, paradoxically, creativity can flourish in the presence of control.

The aims of this study is to propose a model for managing customer experience analytics focused on value generated in an online market, this study to explore touch points experience, measured with conventional indicators and fuzzy indicators, using to a structural equation model analysis and Mamdani inference method. The investigation has delved deeper into the nature of the value of the experience construct, the results revealed of the empirical study confirm regarding how the experience value is related with the key touch points of the customer/company relationship. Very few studies in the reviewed literature about the conceptualization on customer interactive experience focused on value generated in an online environment. This study becomes more relevant today, where, after the pandemic, the value of the online customer experience becomes more important.

This paper explores technological trajectory transition in the perspective of innovation ecosystem and their effect on innovation performance of latecomers in market. A structural equation model is developed and tested with data collected from 366 firms in China. In specific, this paper categories technological trajectory transition creative accumulative technological trajectory transition (CCT) and creative disruptive technological trajectory transition (CDT). The results indicate that firms' organizational learning ability positively affect their technological trajectory transition and innovation performance. Firms' network relationship strength negatively affects their technological trajectory transition and positively affect their innovation performance. Governments' environmental concerns positively affect firms' technological trajectory transition and their innovation performance, whereas firms' environmental concerns do not. CCT does not positively affect their innovation performance. In contrast, CDT positively affects their innovation performance.

Human values and affective traits were found to predict attitudes toward the use of different types of knowledge-based theory through creative climate. In this study (N =329), we aimed to gain a more comprehensive understanding of those predictors toward use in a structural equation model (SEM), providied a better overview of a possible structural path that drives to such antecedents for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Bangladesh. Precisely, we predicted and found that the relations between the variables and impact of different variables were modeled and tested by applying SEM. Based on the questionnaires survey on SMEs in Bangladesh, this empirical study indicates that all the predictor variables significantly influence the endogenous variables except knowledge management (KM) and employee resilience (ER), and creative climate (CC) and organizational resilience (OR). The study provides several theoretical and practical implications for further research.

The purpose of this study was to understand how proactivity can affect the relationship between absorptive capacity and organisational performance. Most previous studies have ignored the role of proactivity in this relationship and have not considered the multidimensional nature of absorptive capacity. A questionnaire was sent to 800 CEOs of Spanish companies from different sectors, procuring a response rate of 38.25%. A structural equation model was applied to test the hypothesis. This study confirms the positive effect that absorptive capacity has on business performance and the moderating role of proactivity in this relationship. Companies that develop their capacity to absorb information from the environment achieve better results. Furthermore, if they engage in proactive behaviour within their company, this relationship is stronger. Future research should include more capacities that are related to knowledge and business performance (i.e., learning capability, innovation capacity, etc.). This study contributes to the understanding of how to manage a company’s knowledge in an appropriate way. It sheds new light on how knowledge management should be conducted, emphasising not only the gathering of information but also the promotion of a proactive attitude on the part of employees to achieve the goal of better performance.

The objective of this research is to present a model that describes the general effect of social capital and absorptive capacity on knowledge management and its implications on company performance. The model proposed in this research is tested by structural equation model. This research processed data from 258 respondents of employees of finance companies in Indonesia that meet certain requirements of 27 samples of the company. This research found that social capital has a positive and significant effect on absorptive capacity and knowledge management. Absorptive capacity has a positive and significant impact on knowledge management and company performance. Knowledge management also has a positive and significant effect on company performance. Social capital and absorptive capacity together have a positive and significant influence on knowledge management. Furthermore social capital, absorptive capacity and knowledge management together have a positive and significant impact on company performance. Absorptive capacity mediates the relationship between social capital and knowledge management. Knowledge management fully mediates the relationship between social capital and absorptive capacity on company performance. Social capital indirectly affects the company performance through knowledge management or absorptive capacity. This research model only limits the factors that affect company performance to three main variables namely social capital, absorptive capacity and knowledge management. Future research is suggested to try with additional other variables such as monetary incentives and/or corporate culture. The practical implication of this research is to improve knowledge management, it is necessary to improve social capital and absorptive capacity together. Furthermore company performance can be improved if social capital, absorptive capacity and knowledge management also improved simultaneously. The model proposed in this research improves the understanding of academics and practitioners about the construct of knowledge management. The mediation function of knowledge management is something new from this research compared to previous researches. This research also provides an additional contradictory list of previous researches on the relationship between social capital and company performance.

Purpose This study aims to draw on Piaget’s theory of assimilation and accommodation (absorptive capacity) as having mediating roles to examine the effect of motivational factors in entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intention among engineering students. In addition, this relationship is analyzed along with the moderating effect of the home environment. Design/methodology/approach The structural equation model was applied to a sample of university students (736 respondents) engaged in an entrepreneurship education program in South Korea. Findings The findings highlight that the motivations of personal achievement, social welfare and social relationship were associated with assimilated students, and the motivations of personal achievement and cognitive interest were associated with accommodated students fostering entrepreneurial intention in their entrepreneurship education. Originality/value This finding contributes to the theoretical implications of absorptive capacity (assimilation and accommodation) in the learning process and has wider practical implications for course instructors in educational institutions who wish to promote the effectiveness of developing entrepreneurship knowledge and skills among engineering students.

Prediction markets are an innovative forecasting method that has proven high prediction accuracy in many areas. The method is, however, far from being established since many organizations are still reluctant to use the method. In particular the trust in the forecast results is a key challenge that negatively impacts the adoption of the method. To get a better understanding of what drives trust in prediction markets we analyzed the perceptions of prediction market users. We identify factors that influence the trust and quantified them in an empirical study. The study is based on user surveys in six experimental prediction markets. The influencing factors were evaluated using a structural equation model. The results demonstrate that participants who are highly engaged and perceive trading in prediction market as exciting and entertaining also put a higher trust in the market results.
