The study deals with the Contextual Teaching and Learning of the students’ reading comprehension at junior high school. Contextual Teaching and Learning is a new alternative for every teachers to relate the materials to the real world. The aims of the research are to analyze the effect of non and CTL method of the students’ reading comprehension.  The research method is an experimental method. The data analysis is taken from the two classess. Then, they divided into two  groups, the control and experimental group. The major findings of the study shows that the effect of Contextual Teaching and Learning on the students’ reading comprehension is better than the non CTL method-lecture method for the junior high school students.

<p><em>The study aims to examine the feasibility of a learning device using a metacognitive strategy for use in physics learning for XI-grade high school students. The development of the device is based on the study of the physics learning competencies referring to the 2013 curriculum based on the study of physical learning competencies that refer to the 2013 curriculum. The learning devices that are organized include learning plans and physics study results tests. The method used is Research and Development (R &amp; D) refers to the step developed by the simplified Borg &amp; Gall. The test instrument of learning results consists of 31 questions of multiple choice and has been validated by evaluation experts, physicists, physics education, expert and practitioners. The validation test was tested in 176 high school students in Pontianak City. Expert analysis using the validity of the content of Aiken's V provides a 0.77 validity index. The reliability test using SPSS 17.0 provides a reliability index of 0.71. Analysis of the device's effectiveness of metacognitive learning plans developed to improve student learning outcomes through learning trials in class XI students. The results showed that there were significant differences in the learning outcomes of students using the Learning Strategy tool that using the learning devices used in the school is obtained Thitung = 2.055 (α = 0.044; df = 59). As such, learning devices are developed worthy of use in physics learning in the XI class.</em></p>

This research based article was aimed at explaining the effect of Contextual Teaching and Learning and Problem Based Learning on the establishment of Ecological Competence in Civic Education in Junior High School. It was a quasi-experiment research with pretest-posttest control group design. The population was student grade VII of SMP Negeri 2 Surakarta. The sample was chosen randomly, consist of one classroom as experimental group and another classroom as control group. Instrument for collecting data were test, questionnaire, and observation. It can be concluded that the establishment of ecological competence among junior high school students though through contextual teaching and learning are more effective than those who were though by problem based learning and conventional one. It was indicated by the result of one way anova Fcount Ftable (24.0313.11) and P=0.0000.05).

The research problem is the lack of motivation and attention of students in the teaching and learning process of Geography and the Component Display Theory (CDT) model has not been applied in Syaloom Christian High School in Manado City. This study aims to determine the effect of the CDT learning model in improving learning outcomes in the Geography subjects of Syaloom Christian High School students in Manado City. The results were analyzed by statistical t-test obtained by the value of t count = 11.896 giving a recommendation that the research hypothesis is different. This value explains the differences in the learning outcomes of students in the experimental group Geography with the CDT learning model better than the control group learning outcomes without using the CDT learning model when viewed from the average value. Therefore, the CDT learning model that was applied to the experimental group students had a positive effect on improving student learning outcomes in Geography subjects.

To respond the globalization, the importance of English communication skills including speaking skills increases. Looking at Indonesian context, secondary high school students find spoken English is much more difficult than written English. Students are good at grammar, reading, and writing but they can hardly speak (Hairdara, 2016). This article proposes collaborative learning approach (CLA) as one suitable solution to solve the obstacles of sharpening English speaking skills due to its benefits. The discussion of this investigation highlights some benefits of CLA in developing speaking skills and its challenges need to be considered as well. Receiving well-proven evidence of its benefits, CLA is recommended to be implemented in teaching and learning English speaking skills. As results of this investigation, there are three main benefits of CLA that its implementation can reduce language anxiety, raise students’ participation, and increase students’ self-confidence.
