Abstract: In the modern era where emphasis on air travels is increasing day by day. There is no near alternative of jet fuel. In such situation where fossil fuel use becomes bounded than, we should try to increase efficiency from available resources so as to push world towards sustainable development. Efficiency of aeroplanes greatly depends on couple of major factors like load carried, type of fuel used, power of engine installed, etc. But if we take similar aircrafts with similar loads than one criterion plays pivotal role in efficiency of aircrafts and that is shape of aerofoil wings. Angle of attack also depends on this. Optimum shape of aerofoil has always been topic of research for engineers. In present paper, an aerofoil shape with bottom surface backlash is analysed in ABAQUS software. Different modes of failure help in better designing as well as maximum bearable load by aerofoil shape. Keyword: 1. Aeronautical engineering, 2. Fluid Mechanics, 3. Analysis on ABAQUS, 4. Computational fluid dynamics.

The flexural uniaxial and biaxial tensile strength of concrete was studied experimentally on one-way and two-way ribbed slab specimens. The specimens, consisting of a thin slab and deep ribs, constituted part of a waffle-like structure.Uniaxial tension was achieved by supporting the specimens at two points at the ends of one rib, and biaxial tension by supporting the specimens at four points at the ends of two cross ribs. In both support conditions, load was applied in the middle of the slab, thus introducing flexural tension in the ribs and compression in the slab.Measurements of tensile strain were carried out by means of uniaxial strain gauges attached to the bottom surface of the ribs. The modes of failure of concrete in uniaxial and biaxial tension were observed and are discussed in this paper. A revised biaxial failure envelope of concrete in tension is proposed. The test results indicate that the tensile strength of concrete is about 38% higher in the uniaxial stress state than in the biaxial. Keywords: concrete strength, uniaxial and biaxial tensile flexural strength, maximum strains, cracking, ribbed structure, waffle structure.

Abstract The circular economy can be defined as an economic system of exchange and production intended to increase the efficiency of the use of resources at all stages of products’ life cycle (including goods and services). Since most natural resources are not inexhaustible, and fossil fuel consumption is considered one of the major factors of global warming, its development seems inevitable, even if it can only be progressive (spanning several decades) and may not apply to all sectors. The circular economy is likely to challenge work methods and working conditions. Consequently, a strategic foresight study has been conducted in order to assess the main consequences on occupational safety and health. In the practice of INRS which carried out this work, foresight is above all a tool to improve and facilitate thinking and decision-making.

Urdu speaking people living in Geneva camp of Dhaka have become a marginally displaced community since 1971. Geneva camp is overcrowded as they have no chance of living outside of the camps because of their statelessness. The camp is a densely-populated settlement and have its own natural physical growth in terms of social and economic transformation day by day. This brings a lot of physical, socio-cultural and economic problems.  Geneva camp is a compact and confined living place for its inhabitants. For many of them it is also income generating place and thus source of their livelihood. It is important to identify the problems of this settlement to take further necessary actions to mitigate those. This study illustrates the housing problems in different domains in the Geneva camp with their attributes. Lack of spaces and other facilities in a low-income settlement have their impact on the way of overall livelihood of the inhabitants. The physical characteristics and other major factors that affect the physical environment of settlement are discussed in this paper.

In this modern era, multi-story housing is conceived as a sustainable and land-saving solution to increasing housing demand. In developing countries like Pakistan, unplanned and unsustainable multi-story housing development in major cities like Hyderabad. Housing quality is getting worse day by day, creating a negative impact on the physical and social well-being of inhabitants. The study identified the factors which are making a negative impact on multistory housing quality. The research is based on a thorough literature review, variables which helped categorize into safety and security, environment, life convenience, space utilization, utilities and services. To record the residents' opinion, the variables were inserted in a structured questionnaire with a 4-point Likert scale. Systematic sampling was applied to select a random sample of sixty buildings with an interval of 5. Using multiple regression analysis, four variables, including outdoor noise, fire protection, lack of elevator facility and drainage, were found to have a negative impact. The study is significant as the results can be considered as a guide for planning and development agencies to improve the multi-story housing quality by ensuring the inclusion of influential variables in the present and future development of multi-story buildings.

The noticeable rise in electricity bills is one of the most major factors leading to an economic crisis for all parts of the world today. It causes many negative impacts on the economic lifestyle of society. This is due to the depletion of unnecessary energy which leads to financial losses for customers. Moreover, it leads to problems between customers and electric companies. Day by day, electricity bills increase further due to the increase in the number of electrical appliances, which in turn leads to an increase in the daily use of electricity. The absence of an energy consumption monitoring system exacerbates this problem. Therefore, it became necessary to develop a system to monitor energy consumption that can calculate daily consumption and display it to customers so that they can know their energy consumption without facing any difficulties. This paper aims to design and implement an energy meter system for optimized cost using internet of things (IOT) technology. This is to alert customers to take preventive measures that help limit the rise in electricity bills. The main components of system design are Node MCU, Arduino Uno (Atmega 328) Microcontroller, AC Fan, AC Light Bulb, LCD I2C (20x4) and ACS712 Current Sensor, which is responsible for sensing the current of electrical appliances. This system was simulated through the TINKERCAD program, as for the system programming, it was done through the Arduino Integrated Development Environment (IDE). Moreover, the system implementation and testing has been successfully completed, and the required results have been analyzed and successfully reached. The system has performed well and is acceptable, also it can be classified as efficient, simple and easy to use.

The necessity of the soft gripping devices is increasing day-by-day in medical robotics especially when safe, gentle motions and soft touch are necessary. In this paper, a novel asymmetric bellow flexible pneumatic actuator (AFPA) has been designed and fabricated to construct a miniaturised soft gripper that could be used to grip small objects. The model of AFPA is designed using solid works and its bending motion is simulated in Abaqus software for optimisation and compared with experimental results. The actuator is fabricated using compression molding process that includes micromachining of the molds. Experiments conducted show the bending characteristics of the actuator at different pressures. The actuator shows excellent bending performance and the eccentricity in its design supports increased bending or curling motion up to a certain extent compared to normal bellows without eccentricity. The effects of profile shape and eccentricity on the actuator performance are analysed and the results are presented.

The energy resources from the fossil fuels are decreasing day by day. Rather fossil fuel is costly, it creates environmental problems by producing and NOx in the environment. Now it is argent to find a solution. The solution can be renewable energy. In this paper the effort was to find the utility of biodiesels in the conventional diesel engine. This biofuel or biodiesel is extracted from Soybean methyl ester (SME). We compared the basic performance characteristics diesel, SME 20 and SME 100 in unmodified diesel engine. This experiment will be helpful to find out the utility of SME type biodiesel in conventional diesel engine so that the uses of fossil fuels can be reduced in quick rental power plants and other uses. We can use biodiesel as substitute in an economic tariff and efficient way.
