Comic media development is essential for junior high school students. Because in learning the echinoderm material, students' motivation is shallow. This research aims to 1) develop echinoderms comics, 2) find out how to develop comic learning media, 3) find out whether comic learning media was suitable for scientific learning. This research and development used the Hannafin and Peck model with three stages they were 1) needs analysis, 2) design stage and 3) development and implementation. The methods of collecting data were used observation and questionnaires. Comic media validation consisted of material experts, media experts, and educators. The subjects in this research were students of class VII Junior High School Islam Integral Luqman Al-Hakim 02 Batam. The quality of comic media is based on material expert validation, a suitable category (85.14%). The result of media expert validation was an excellent category (92.00%). Students who responded at the small group test stage were an excellent category (93.61%). Finally, students answered a suitable category at the big group test (88.25%). Echinoderm comics have been ideal for science learning based on the explanation above.

ABSTRACTThis research is motivated by the low achievement of sciencem literacy of Indonesian students in the participation of the study of The Programe for International Student Assessment (PISA) held every three years by The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This study aims to determine the quality of science literacy profile of junior high school students. The sample amounted to 356 students of SMP class IX, taken using proportionate stativeied random sampling technique. The Method is test and interview. The tests given using questions obtained from the OECD published PISA issue were published in 2009 specifically for matters related to science content. The results showed that the Literacy Quality of Science Profile of Junior High School Students in Pati Regency belong to low category with percentage of 55%. In the category of moderate percentage obtained by 45% and no students who fall into the high category. As for the achievement of the value of each level, the highest ability of students in answering science literacy questions in the level 1 questions with a total of 49.43 moderate categorized, and the lowest ability of students in answering the questions of science literacy is in level questions 6th with a total of 13.48 is low categorized. The conclusion is the quality of science literacy profile of junior high school students in Pati District is low. Keywords: Profil Quality, Science Literation, SMP Student, ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya capaian literasi sains siswa Indonesia pada partisipasi studi The programe for International Student Assessment (PISA) yang diselenggarakan setiap tiga tahun sekali oleh The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil kualitas literasi sains siswa SMP se-Kabupaten Pati. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 356 siswa SMP kelas IX se-Kabupaten Pati yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik proportionate statified random sampling. Metode pengambilan data menggunakan metode tes dan wawancara. Tes yang diberikan menggunakan soal PISA yang dipublikasikan oleh OECD diterbitkan tahun 2009 khusus untuk soal-soal yang berkaitan dengan konten sains, serta sudah diterjemahkan ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Profil Kualitas Literasi Sains Siswa SMP se-Kabupaten Pati tergolong dalam kategori rendah dengan persentase sebesar 55%. Pada  kategori sedang diperoleh persentase sebesar 45% dan tidak ada siswa yang masuk dalam kategori tinggi. Pencapaian nilai setiap levelnya, kemampuan tertinggi siswa dalam menjawab soal literasi sains terdapat pada soal level 1 dengan jumlah nilai 49,43 berkategori sedang, dan kemampuan terendah siswa dalam menjawab soal literasi sains terdapat pada soal level 6 dengan jumlah nilai 13,48 berkategori rendah. Sehingga disimpulkan bahwa profil kualitas literasi sains siswa SMP se-Kabupaten Pati tergolong rendah. Kata Kunci: profil kualitas, literasi sains, siswa SMP

Abstract This study aims to develop a rubric of students' collaboration skills in junior high school on light reflection materials. The collaboration skills are one of the important competencies of the 21st century so that teachers in the field must have their rubric to measure students' collaboration skills. The rubric is based on the adaptation and modification of the collaboration skills section of the International Reading Association (IRA) (2005). The research method used is the method of research and development of 4D (define, design, develop and disseminate) 2D (restricted and design) design model. Aspects that are adapted and modified are contributions, time management, problem solving, working with others and research techniques that are trained on the activity of light reflecting material. Each aspect is given a score of 1 - 4 with 1 (less), 2 (sufficient), 3 (good) and 4 (excellent). Through the define and design stage, a collaboration scoring rubric for junior high school students has been developed in light reflection materials based on adaptation and modification of the collaboration skills framework of the International Reading Association (IRA) (2005). Kemampuan berkolaborasi adalah salah satu kompetensi penting abad ke-21 sehingga guru di lapangan harus memiliki rubrik tersendiri untuk mengukur kemampuan berkolaborasi siswa. Rubrik disusun berdasarkan adaptasi dan modifikasi rubrik kemampuan berkolaborasi dari International Reading Association (IRA) (2005). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian dan pengembangan model intruksional 4D (define, design, develop and disseminate) yang dibatasi hanya 2D (define and design). Aspek yang diadaptasi dan dimodifikasi yaitu kontribusi, manajemen waktu, pemecahan masalah, bekerja dengan orang lain dan teknik penyelidikan yang dilatihkan pada kegiatan percobaan pemantulan cahaya. Setiap aspek diberi skor 1 - 4 dengan keterangan 1 (kurang), 2 (cukup), 3 (baik) dan 4 (sangat baik). Melalui tahap define dan design yang dilakukan, telah dikembangkan rubrik penilaian kemampuan berkolaborasi untuk siswa SMP dalam materi pemantulan cahaya berdasarkan adaptasi dan modifikasi rubrik kemampuan berkolaborasi dari International Reading Association (IRA) (2005). Descriptive work type of cross-sectional survey through 18 of questions items were aimed at assessing the quality of the scientific literacy’s instrument in competency domain for junior high school students on the topic of straight motion. The validity of the instrument assessed based on obtain judgement expert and reliability of the instrument assessed by internal consistency. The research reports that 14 items question is very good and 4 items question is good with reliability coefficient (α) by 0.72. The results earned shows that instrument can be used as a one of reference for analyzing the difficulties of scientific literacy’s students on the topic of linear motion in junior high school.

The study aims at generating a product in the form of Volleyball learning materials CD with the valid and effective TGFU method for the junior high school students. The learning media has been developed by using the Adobe Flash CS 6 Professional. Then, within the conduct of the study, the Research and Development (R&D) Model proposed by Borg & Gall had been adopted with several modifications. Then, the results of the study show that the learning media belongs to the “Very Good” category according to the material expert validation with the mean score 4.38 and that the learning media belongs to the “Very Good” category according to the media expert validation with the mean score 4.23. Furthermore, the results of the limited experiment show that the learning media belongs to the “Very Good” category with the mean score 4.76. Similarly, the results of the expanded experiment show that the learning media belongs to the “Very Good” category with the mean score 4.75. In order to identify the quality and the effectiveness of the product, an operational test should be performed. The results of the operational test show that the pre-test mean score is 41.65 while the post-test mean score is 89.25. The mean score of the students has improved with the gap 47.60 points. Therefore, departing from the overall results, the TGFU method-based learning media has been valid and effective for implementation in the learning activities of Sports and Health Education for the Junior High School degree.

Abstrak: Penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan model buku ajar membaca berdasarkan pendekatan proses bagi siswa SMP. Ada tiga tahap dalam penelitian ini, yaitu (1) pendefinisian; (2) perencanaan dan pengembangan; dan (3) penyebarluasan. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan teknik analisis domain dengan prinsip kritis dan reflektif. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model buku ajar membaca telah dikembangkan berdasarkan pendekatan proses. Buku tersebut terdiri atas tiga bagian, yaitu (1) pendahuluan, (2) bagian isi, dan (3) bagian tambahan. Setiap unit terdiri atas judul unit pembelajaran, kompetensi dasar, pramembaca, membaca, merespon, menggali teks, dan memperluas pemahaman.Kata Kunci: buku ajar membaca, pendekatan prosesDEVELOPING A PROCESS-APPROACH-BASED READING TEXTBOOK MODEL FOR JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTSAbstract: This development research was aimed to produce a process-approach-based reading textbook model for Junior High School students. There were three stages in this research, i.e. (1) definition; (2) design and development; and (3) dissemination. The data were analyzed using the domain analysis technique with critical and reflective principles. The findings showed that the reading textbook model had been developed based on the process approach. This text book consisted of three parts, i.e. (1) introduction, (2) core materials, and (3) additional part. Each unit consisted of the title, competence, pre-reading, whilst-reading, responding, exploring the text, and extending comprehension.Keywords: reading text book, process approach

The aims of this article were to uncover the detailed content of an English textbook entitled “English in Context SMP/MTs Grade VIII” for Junior high school students as well as to investigate the technical quality of the book. The design of the research was a descriptive qualitative through which the English textbook entitled “English in Context SMP/MTs Grade VIII” written by Kasihani K.E. Suyanto and Sri Andreani was assessed. The book was read, identified, classified, and analyzed in terms of its content and technical quality. The findings were: 1) the book was sufficient in terms of the content because total score of the alignment between its content and curriculum was thirty-three (33), 2) in terms of technical quality, this book is sufficient within evidence of a total score which was thirty (30). Based on the data analysis above the writers concluded that an English textbook entitled “English in Context for Grade VIII” is good and appropriate for teaching English to the second grade students of Junior high school.
