INTRODUCTION: Action on family violence1 remains a policy priority for the New Zealand government. Accordingly, this article explores the Immigration New Zealand’s Victims of Family Violence (VFV) visa. Specifically, it explores possible barriers preventing MELAA2 cultural groups from utilizing the VFV visa.APPROACH: The discussion is based on administrative immigration data, gathered by Immigration New Zealand (INZ), on applicants for VFV visas between July 2010 and March 2021.FINDINGS: Over the last 10 years, INZ received 1,947 applications for the VFV Visa. People of Asian (40%) and Pacific (38%) backgrounds made most of these applications, with India, Fiji, China, the Philippines, and Tonga making up the top five source countries. MELAA communities made only 11% of the total VFV visa applications. Applicants from South Africa, Brazil, Iran, Nigeria, and Argentina made up the top five source MELAA countries. Analyses showed that MELAA applications were mostly work-type visas.IMPLICATIONS: Data presented shows that the VFV visa is still underutilised within these communities. Possible reasons for these notable outcomes are explored in this article, with suggestions for remediating strategies for barriers preventing MELAA communities from utilising the VFV visa. This article concludes that more research is required to gain an in- depth understanding of the specific cultural contexts within which these women engage with this visa.

The fatigue of air traffic controllers (ATCOs) on duty seriously threatens air traffic safety and needs to be managed. ATCOs perform several different types of work, with each type of work having different characteristics. Nonetheless, the influence of work type on an ATCO’s fatigue has yet to be demonstrated. Here, we present a field study in which the fatigue of ATCOs working in two types of work was compared based on an optimized data-driven method that was employed to detect the percentage of eyelid closure over the pupil over time (PERCLOS). Sixty-seven ATCOs working within two typical jobs (i.e., from the terminal control unit (TCU) and area control unit (ACU)) were recruited, and their fatigue was detected immediately before and after shift work using PERCLOS. Using a Spearman correlation test analysis, the results showed that the influence of work type on an ATCO’s fatigue had interesting trends. Specifically, the ATCOs at the TCU who handle departures and arrivals, which include converging with and maneuvering around conflicts, retain normal circadian rhythms. Their fatigue was significantly influenced by the various demands from tasks focusing on sequencing and conflict resolution and by the time phase of a normal circadian rhythm. At the ACU, ATCOs manage flights that are mainly on route, causing monotonous monitoring and routine reporting tasks, and the ATCOs generally have frequent night shifts to handle overflights. Their fatigue was significantly influenced by the demand characteristics from tasks, but changes in fatigue rule were not consistent with a normal circadian rhythm, revealing that the ATCOs’ circadian rhythms may have already been slightly disturbed. Furthermore, the interactions between task demand and circadian rhythm with an ATCO’s fatigue were significantly observed in ATCOs working in the TCU but not in those in the ACU. This study provides first evidence that an ATCO’s work type influences his or her fatigue. This discovery may incite stakeholders to consider work type in the management of employee fatigue, not only in the civil aviation industry but also in other transport industries.

Abstract The determination of tariff is necessary for a city willing to implement electronic road pricing such as Jakarta. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the effect of household characteristics on the willingness and probability to pay more than IDR 20,000. The focus was on those commuting to work within the city where the majority of people work in the formal sector. Moreover, the Willingness to Pay IDR 20,000 was proposed as a variable while age, number of family members, income, vehicle ownership and the work type were used as the explanatory variables. The results showed the general effect of households in receiving ERP rates was low as indicated by the 16.9% recorded. However, family with total members of 4-5 people and owning a vehicle was observed to have a partially great and significant probability to increase the willingness to pay tariffs > IDR 20,000 while those earning income <IDR 5 million and working as private employees were discovered to have contributed negatively and significantly even though the probability was small. There is, therefore, the need for a comprehensive study when determining tariffs and the amount is recommended to be more expensive than public transport.

This study aimed to identify the assessment degree of a sample of media and security people regarding the role of the community protection project in Palestine, which is being implemented by the National Commission forStrengthening Values and Behaviors in the community, in relation to some variables (gender, work type and years of experience). The study also attempted to propose a set of recommendations that might contribute to activating the role of community protection. To achieve this, the descriptive analytical method was followed and a questionnaire of 31 items was used to collect data from a sample of 118 participants. The study findingsrevealed that the degree assessment of the role of community protection in supporting home front requirements was high at a relative weight of (81%).The first dimension (communication with the occupying forces) received the highest degree, whereas (building national affiliation) received the lowest degree. There were no statistically significant differences (<0.05) among theparticipants attributed to years of experience and gender. On the other hand, there were differences attributed to work type in favor of security people. The study stressed the need to support security organizations in their pursuit to raise security awareness by encouraging the culture of media and security climate that supports home front. It was also recommended that project activities should be well-planned and all requirements should be made available to make the project sustainable.

First branchial cleft anomalies (FBCAs) are the most infrequent malformations that occur during the development of the branchial apparatus, appearing in less than 8% of all branchial anomalies. Traditionally, they are classified into Work type I and II, depending on their origin. We present a pair of rare FBCAs: a case of a preauricular Work type I cyst with twin fistulae coursing toward the parotid gland and a Work type II cyst of significant dimensions.

Collaural fistula is a very rare Work Type II first branchial cleft anomaly in which there is a complete fistulous tract between external auditory canal and the neck. Misdiagnosis and mismanagement can lead to prolonged morbidity and complications due to repeated infections. We present a case of an 18-year-old lady with a recurrent discharging sinus on her neck for 4 years. She has been treated with repeated incision and drainage and multiple antibiotics in the past. Otoscopic examination revealed an opening on the floor of the left external auditory canal. A diagnosis of an infected collaural fistula was made. Complete excision of the fistulous tract was done after treatment of the active infection. On follow-up, there was no further recurrence at 1 year. Sound knowledge of embryology of branchial anomalies with good history and examination is important to make correct and early diagnosis to prevent morbidity.

This article aims discusses Rolf Fieguth’s studies of works by Norwid, focusing primarily on the German Slavist’s interpretations of the cycle Vade-mecum and the long poem Quidam. The first work reconstructed here, along with its assumptions and conclusions, is Fieguth’s 1985 study on “poetry in a critical phase”and the second is the 2005 essay on the comparative contexts of Norwid’s famous cycle (the latter was published in Polish in 2011). A lot of room is devoted in this section to Fieguth’s analysis of distortions introduced by Norwid at various levels of the poem’s organization. These remarks are complemented with an account of Fieguth’s comparatist conceptof “cultural confrontation,” which goes beyond dualistic accounts of literary creativity, revealing the invariably broad, European context of meetings between poets and texts, facilitated by the process of national cultures permeating each other. The second part of the article is devoted to Fieguth’s 2014 book Zaproszenie do „Quidama”. Portret poematu Cypriana Norwida [An invitation to Quidam. A portrait of Cyprian Norwid’s long poem]. Reflections on this publication concern not only its detailed findings about Norwid’s long poem but also the critic’s methodological assumptions, which have helped him to update the long-standing genre in the history of literature, namely the “author and his particular work” type of monograph. Among the issues addressed in the book, the article discusses, in particular, the difficulties accompanying interpretations of Quidamand the question of Norwid’s classicism. The third part of the article draws attention to Fieguth’s remarks onNorwid made in recent years (2017, 2018, 2020). The article thus summarizes Rolf Fieguth’s thirty years of research on the most important poetic achievements of the Polish poet.

Abstract. Healthy Clean-Living Behavior (PHBS) is carried out in order to realize a healthy life so as to prevent disease. The factors that cause the lack of people to behave in a healthy clean lifestyle are caused by their socioeconomic status. The socioeconomic status intended here is the level of education, type of work and income level. The purpose of this study was to determine how the condition of the socioeconomic status of the community and the behavior of healthy clean living in the community and to find out whether there is a relationship between socioeconomic status and healthy cleanliving behavior (PHBS) of the community in Pajukukang village, Maros district. This research is a correlation study. The sample taken was selected by cluster random sampling by taking a sample of 40 respondents per village. So that the overall sample of 120 respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential data analysis. The relationship between education level and income level with PHBS was tested using Spearman rank, resulting in Asymp sig value. 0,000. Whereas the relationship of work type with PHBS was tested using contingency coefficients to produce Asymp sig. 0.010. Keywords: socio-economic status, healthy clean-living behavior, level of education, type of employment, level of income.

The chapter continues the discussion of dance identity, examining the problem posed by a specific case, the ballet Swan Lake. This ballet is often invoked in the existing philosophical literature on identity but arguably with insufficient attention paid to its historical genesis and development. The chapter argues that nineteenth-century ballet ‘classics’ are not central or paradigm cases of choreographic works in the modern sense. It also makes the case that the variously authored, individual productions titled Swan Lake are works in their own right rather than tokens of some overarching work-type. If there is an overarching Swan Lake type, then this is a very “thin” entity on which it is problematic to model an account of the identity conditions of later works, since that misrepresents their identity constraints. The discussion illustrates how identity issues—and work ontology more generally—are intertwined with historically contingent conceptualisations and practices.
