The tailings storage facility "Lebyazhye" operates as part of two fields. A third field is currently being designed. Therefore, at the construction stage, it is most important to solve the issues of managing natural and man-made landscapes in the zone of influence of the tailings storage facility.

Background: The transformation of natural elements, the migration of soil substances used in industry most often refer to metals, as a result of which “metallization” of landscapes occurs in industrial regions. Methods: The article proposes an analysis of studies, conducting agroecological monitoring of soil and plants in the zone affected by the action of Ryazan power plant in 2015-2019. Experiments included the analysis of the soil and climatic conditions of the area, sampling in the zone of five rings of the pipe of the polluting enterprise, the analysis of the content of some trace elements in the coal during combustion and the products of their combustion, as well as heavy metals in the biomass of the main types of plant communities in the zone of influence and mobile forms of metals in the soil of the zone, depending on the main directions of influence. Result: According to the results, the greatest distribution of mobile forms of heavy metals in the impact zone of Ryazan State District Power Plant (RGRES) was observed in the southern and southeastern directions in radii from 2.5 km to 30 km, in the southwest direction it was in radii from 500 m to 7 km and in the northern and northwestern directions it was within a radius of 500 m to 2.5 km from the station.

The transient multiphase flow behavior in a single-strand tundish during ladle change was studied using physical modeling. The water and silicon oil were employed to simulate the liquid steel and slag. The effect of the turbulence inhibitor on the slag entrainment and the steel exposure during ladle change were evaluated and discussed. The effect of the slag carry-over on the water-oil-air flow was also analyzed. For the original tundish, the top oil phase in the impact zone was continuously dragged into the tundish bath and opened during ladle change, forming an emulsification phenomenon. By decreasing the liquid velocities in the upper part of the impact zone, the turbulence inhibitor decreased considerably the amount of entrained slag and the steel exposure during ladle change, thereby eliminating the emulsification phenomenon. Furthermore, the use of the TI-2 effectively lowered the effect of the slag carry-over on the steel cleanliness by controlling the movement of slag droplets. The results from industrial trials indicated that the application of the TI-2 reduced considerably the number of linear inclusions caused by ladle change in hot-rolled strip coils.

As a result of the model experiment, an increase in the enzymatic activity of meadow chernozem of the impact zone of Ataman Lake with the introduction of a strains mixture of metal-resistant microorganisms into the soil was established. The experiment has shown that the application of bacterial strains increases the dehydrogenase activity of contaminated soil by 51.8% compared to the variant without remediation

Chute aerators introduce a large air discharge through air supply ducts to prevent cavitation erosion on spillways. There is not much information on the microcosmic air bubble characteristics near the chute bottom. This study was focused on examining the bottom air-water flow properties by performing a series of model tests that eliminated the upper aeration and illustrated the potential for bubble variation processes on the chute bottom. In comparison with the strong air detrainment in the impact zone, the bottom air bubble frequency decreased slightly. Observations showed that range of probability of the bubble chord length tended to decrease sharply in the impact zone and by a lesser extent in the equilibrium zone. A distinct mechanism to control the bubble size distribution, depending on bubble diameter, was proposed. For bubbles larger than about 1–2 mm, the bubble size distribution followed a—5/3 power-law scaling with diameter. Using the relationship between the local dissipation rate and bubble size, the bottom dissipation rate was found to increase along the chute bottom, and the corresponding Hinze scale showed a good agreement with the observations.

The composition, structure, and spatial distribution of zoobenthos in streams of the Bukhtarma River basin are described and quantitative indicators of benthos in the lower course of the Bukhtarma River are given. The predominance of insects from the orders of mayflies, caddisflies, and freckles is characteristic of the water-courses in the Bukhtarma River basin and is associated with the presence of stony soils in the rivers, rapid flow, moderate-cold-water temperature regime, and high oxygen content in the water – factors that are most favorable for these groups of invertebrates. To assess the ecological state of surface waters in the streams under study by bioindication methods, TBI, BMWP, ASPT, and ERT biotic indices are used. The taxonomic composition of each of the studied watercourses and river sections is formed in accordance with specific environmental conditions associated with natural and anthropogenic factors. It is established that watercourses in the reference areas can be used as reference ones in accordance with the requirements of the EU Framework Water Directive, and the characteristics of invariant States of biocenoses of the lower course of the Bukhtarma River in the impact zone are also given using the criteria of the V. A. Abakumov system of ecological modulations.

The cooling slope (CS) casting process is one of the simplest methods for producing a non-dendritic microstructure. To more clearly determine how this microstructure is formed, specifically in A319, requires an examination of how the dendritic microstructure evolves along the entirety of the CS plate. Yet until now, there are still unclear on the verification of microstructures changes on the CS plate. Based on experimental results, this paper offers an explanation for the mechanism involved in producing a nearly globular microstructure in A319. In addition, the mechanism is verified by using the planimetry method. Moreover a quantitative method is used to determine the grain size and shape factor to provide further support for the proposed mechanism. The solid fraction of α-Al at the impact zone is 70 % which is the highest compared to other zones. Grain size and shape factor shown a decreasing and increasing value respectively from the impact zone until the bottom zone.
