Ayurveda has its holistic approach to understanding the Purush Sharir by different theories like the Srotas, the concept of Srotas is a unique contribution in the understanding of the anatomy of the human body. There is a de- scription of Srotas by 13 Acharya Charak and 11 pairs of Srotas by Acharya Sushrut, both Acharyas described Annavaha Srotas and its Moolas. Acharya Dhanwantari all parts of the body formed at the same time due to Va- yu. Vayu along with Pitta demarcates channels according to purpose; similarly, entering Mamsa (flesh) demar- cates muscles. Matrija Bhava and PitrajBhav are helpful in the origin of Annavaha Srotas. In the classics, Achar- ya says about three Pillars of life viz Ahara, Nidra and Brahamacarya. Ahara is a basic need of all living things. Annavaha Srotas is one of the types of Srotas described in all important Samhita. Keywords: Annavaha Srotas, Sroto Moola, Annavahidhamni, Amashaya and Vamparshava

Ayurveda has described three basic physiological constituent dosha, dhatu and mala for the existence of human body. Among them, seven dhatus form the structural units of the body. The functions of dhatus are dharana (to support) and poshan (to nourish). Dhatus undergo continuous construction and degeneration to maintain a state of equilibrium of the body. Majjadhatu is the sixth dhatu to be formed after asthi dhatu in uttrottardhatuposhan cycle. Bone marrow can be considered as a part of majja dhatu playing a significant role in erythropoiesis. Acharya Sushrut has mentioned about saraktameda and majja. Asthi (bone) and sandhi (joints) are the foundation of majjavahasrotas. The quantity of majjadhatu is one anjali. This manuscript is an attempt to explore the physio-anatomy of majja dhatu based on physiological functions described in ayurveda classics. For which the basic material has been collected from the ancient classics with the available commentaries as well as text books of contemporary modern medical science. KEY WORDS: Bone Marrow, Majja, Majjavahasrotas, Medas, Saraktameda.

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are enzymes of the hydrolase class that carry out enzymatic catalysis with the help of a zinc ion bound in the active center. MMP functions are diverse, and a disturbance in the balance of their activity may be one of the etiological factors of various diseases. In this review, the classification of human MMP, the features of their structure and regulation, as well as the role in physiological and pathological processes in the human body are considered. A list of the most studied polymorphic versions of MMP genes has been given, their functional effects have been described, and the results of associative studies have been presented.

Netra is considered as one of the very important organs in human body. Chakshushya dravyas are the materials which are believed to be beneficial for eyes, henceforth usages of those Dravyas are recommended in various contexts of Sushruta Samhita. In the light of this knowledge and based on Rasadi gunas of Chakshushya dravyas explained in Ayurveda, a critical analysis of those dravyas is done to find out the logic behind the labelling of ‘Chakshushya dravyas’. Triphala, Ksheera, Madhu, Ghrita, Prapaundarika, Saindhava, Yava, Shatavari, Mudga, Jeevanti, Patola are critically analyzed. Even though most of the Chakshushya dravyas are predominantly Madhura rasa dravyas, there are dravyas that are Katu and Kashaya rasa predominant which are seldom told as Chakshushya. Tikta rasa is not considered as Chakshushya but some of the Chakshushya dravyas are Tikta rasa Pradhana. Majority of Chakshushya dravyas possess Rasayana, Brimhana, or Vrishya properties and all of them are not directly contributing to vision. There are ‘Chakshushya Rasayana’ dravyas i.e., dravyas which directly enhances the vision and other dravyas which pacifies the underlying diseases of eye and prevent the secondary manifestations.

As we know Shukra dhatu is a most essential end product of the rest of all 6 dhatus of sharira. So, an analytical comparative research study has been made on infertility(bandhatva) patients. In this study, we explain tenets of shukra dhatu and different types of shukra doshas according to Acharya Charaka and Sushruta. According to doshas 8 types of Shukra doshas explaind by acharya and 9 types of semen abnormality by modern science. An attempt has been made to correlate these shukra doshas with an abnormality of semen according to modern medical science, on the basis of clinical features, physical appearance, and laboratory examination of semen. For the study 20 patient suffering from any kind of infertility has been selected from O.P.D. of Shalya Tantra department of Arogyashala rugnalaya, Nashik. On observation, the result showed out of 20 patients , 10 patients suffering from vatapittaj, 6 from shukra kshaya, 2 from vataj and 2 from pittaj shukra dosha according to ayurvedic point of view. Simultaneously we correlate it with different clinical conditions of semen and we found Out of 20 patients, 8 suffering from Oligoasthenospermia, 6 from Oligospermia, 2 from Asthenozoospermia, 2 from Tetratazospermia, 2 from Infective semen.

Antioxidants play a significant role in the prevention and treatment of numerous chronic diseases as they prevent oxidative stress and maintain reduction-oxidation (redox) equilibrium in the human body by eliminating reactive free radicals effectively. This study focused on the types and applications of antioxidants and discussed the existing problems with regard to the practical applications of antioxidants. Also, it presented a review of the latest research on antioxidants in China and abroad and performed a comprehensive, objective analysis of relevant research on antioxidants.
