With an increasing number of students pursuing their tertiary studies overseas, ways to improve their adaptation into a new environment become of the utmost importance. By applying self-determination theory, the current research investigated the extent that a basic psychological need intervention can increase need-satisfying experiences and promote the adjustment of Mainland Chinese international students to college. In total, 55 participants were randomly assigned to an intervention or control condition. They completed questionnaires on basic need satisfaction and college adjustment before the start of the study, right after the completion of the intervention, and after a 5-week follow-up. Participants who received the intervention had significantly higher need satisfaction and adjustment to college than those in the control condition. The intervention effect was maintained after a 5-week delay. In addition, the results showed that the increases in psychological need satisfaction after the intervention predicted higher levels of students’ adjustment to college. Theoretical implications for the universality of basic need satisfaction to students’ well-being and practical implications for international education are discussed.

The current study explores the distinction between self-enhancement and self-protection as regards basic need satisfaction (i.e., autonomy, competence, and relatedness) and psychological adjustment (i.e., global and contingent types of self-esteem and intolerance of uncertainty) in young adults. 531 undergraduates (365 females and 166 males) completed questionnaires assessing self-enhancement and self-protection, basic need satisfaction, global self-esteem, contingent self-esteem, and intolerance of uncertainty tendencies. Correlation, partial correlation, and hierarchical regression analyses were used. The results revealed that self-enhancement and self-protection were differently associated with basic need satisfaction and the other indicators of psychological adjustment. Accordingly, self-enhancement was positively predicted by need satisfaction and global self-esteem. However, self-protection was negatively predicted by these variables but positively predicted by the contingent type of self-esteem and intolerance of uncertainty. The results suggest that self-enhancement and self-protection are distinct motives. Self-enhancement is linked to psychological adjustment; whereas, self-protection is related to psychological maladjustment.

Electricity is the basic need of today’s scenario. In the 21st generation, growth and development is totally dependent on electricity. Thus, measurement of consumption of electricity becomes much more important. Energy meter used to measure consumed electricity by building or electrical equipment of various end users. This paper focuses on review of energy meters and power tampering attempts. It will highlight the development of meters from electromechanical meters to smart meters. The need of an era is to develop a more reliable and intelligent smart energy meters. This paper also discussed type of power tampering efforts in energy meters for power theft. The concept of smart meters for removing the power tampering efforts is also discussed.

Electoral voting system is the pillar to maintain the democratic freedom of any country. The fair and transparent organization of election is the basic need of the country. Many countries are basically using one of two ways to conduct election either using ballot paper or using electronic voting machines. Each one has its own pros and cons. The fast, trust and e-voting is the need of future. In recent years, blockchain technology is rapidly adopted in various fields by various organizations. The Decentralized and cryptographic algorithms are the major reason behind this. Considering the increasing issue of security, trust in the traditional Voting System and future requirements, this paper proposes a framework for E-Voting system based on blockchain technology. This paper discusses the network architecture for blockchain technology, framing the processing casting votes and counting of votes. The analysis of various issues and challenges in electoral system is carried out in context of the proposed framework. This framework may improve the security and decreases the cost of hosting nationwide elections

In education pedagogy, its necessary to prioritize tasks and jobs. Learn operating the reactor or required apparatus but most important first. Regarding measuring techniques (PSD measurement, pH measurement, XRD, SEM/EDS), learn more basic and fundamental techniques first followed by complimentary techniques. Regarding mineral carbonation, operation of reactor is a basic need followed by particle size measurement using Malvern Mastersizer and powders samples XRD analysis and identifying the phases and verifying those phases through TGA analysis. This article illustrates author personal research of 4 initial 4 months duration. Month wise progress is presented in this article in an interesting way.

Housing constitutes a basic need for all living beings. Unfortunately, natural hazards, including floods, pose a severe threat to housing infrastructure systems. In turn, this paper develops a framework to quantify the resilience of housing infrastructure systems against flood hazards. The parameters for this resilience are based on the literature and knowledge from experts. This paper gauges the significance of each resilience parameter is evaluated using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the fuzzy AHP. The evaluated values are then compared to observe the effectiveness of fuzzy AHP over AHP. The evaluated importance of each parameter will help stakeholders focus on the most important parameters and, in turn, boost the flood resilience of infrastructure. This paper then implements the developed framework in a study area to quantify local flood resilience. This resilience value will help stakeholders in the considered area to understand the resilience of local housing infrastructure.

Electricity has become a basic need for various human activities, because electricity has functions and benefits that are vital in daily life which has become a basic need in encouraging national development in all fields. One part of the world electricity is the installation of lighting that is also me njadi one of the main points in a building, it is very necessary that human activity has remained secure and running smoothly. In this study, the writer will design an electrical installation for a building, namely the office building of the Population and Family Planning Control Office (P2KB) of Central Sulawesi Province, JL. RA Kartini NO. 100 Palu City. This study aims to make an electrical installation design in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) and the General Electrical Installation regulations (PUIL), so that the installation is designed to be more effective and efficient. In the design of this installation also made design drawings for installation in buildings. Based on the design planning of the electrical installation that has been done, the results are obtained, the total electrical power from the electrical installation of this building is 60246 watts or 75307 VA and for electricity supply is taken from PLN, namely 3-phase electricity with a capacity of 82,500 VA. The conductor used in this installation uses NYY and NYM cable types. The security used in this installation consists of 2 types, namely NFB and MCB , in addition to this building installation system is also given a PHB box to facilitate maintenance and repair in case of damage. Taking into account the economic and safety factors of the installation, the total Budget Plan (RAB) for the installation of the building of the Population and Family Planning Control Office (P2KB) is Rp. 223,600,000

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, higher educational institutions worldwide switched to emergency distance learning in early 2020. The less structured environment of distance learning forced students to regulate their learning and motivation more independently. According to self-determination theory (SDT), satisfaction of the three basic psychological needs for autonomy, competence and social relatedness affects intrinsic motivation, which in turn relates to more active or passive learning behavior. As the social context plays a major role for basic need satisfaction, distance learning may impair basic need satisfaction and thus intrinsic motivation and learning behavior. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between basic need satisfaction and procrastination and persistence in the context of emergency distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in a cross-sectional study. We also investigated the mediating role of intrinsic motivation in this relationship. Furthermore, to test the universal importance of SDT for intrinsic motivation and learning behavior under these circumstances in different countries, we collected data in Europe, Asia and North America. A total of N = 15,462 participants from Albania, Austria, China, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Japan, Kosovo, Lithuania, Poland, Malta, North Macedonia, Romania, Sweden, and the US answered questions regarding perceived competence, autonomy, social relatedness, intrinsic motivation, procrastination, persistence, and sociodemographic background. Our results support SDT’s claim of universality regarding the relation between basic psychological need fulfilment, intrinsic motivation, procrastination, and persistence. However, whereas perceived competence had the highest direct effect on procrastination and persistence, social relatedness was mainly influential via intrinsic motivation.
