Digital information and communication technologies (ICTs) are novelty tools that can be used to facilitate broader involvement of citizens in the discussions about science. The same tools can be used to reinforce the traditional top-down model of science communication. Empirical investigations of particular technologies can help to understand how these tools are used in the dissemination of information and knowledge as well as stimulate a dialog about better models and practices of science communication. This study focuses on one of the ICTs that have already been adopted in science communication, on science blogging. The findings from the analysis of eleven blogs are presented in an attempt to understand current practices of science blogging and to provide insight into the role of blogging in the promotion of more interactive forms of science communication.

The field of international and development communications entered a new chapter with the emergence of digital information and communication technologies. Information and communication technologies (leTs) have long been a source of study for theorists and practitioners of international development, starting with study of the telegraph, fixed phone, and radio. However with the advent of digital technologies, the size of devices has shrunken while simultaneously their power has expanded. This paper discusses one segment of the development communications paradigm, the role of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in relation to gender. One focus that demands greater scrutiny is gender. It's important to ask who is benefiting the most from using ICTs in development. For women in particular, using and accessing communications is more difficult than it is for men, a situation that authors of gender and technology studies have coined 'the Gender Digital Divide'.

Smart City is a fuzzy concept that has not been clearly defined either in theoretical studies or in empirical projects. Smart Cities are based on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), people (with their knowledge, habits, experiences, culture and behaviour) remain at the heart of concerns. In this chapter we are interested in the centrality of citizens (i.e. in the heart of the city) and of ICT in their environment. This leads us to take into account the tacit knowledge brought by citizens and the knowledge that may be divulged through ICT. We then present the concept of the Information and Knowledge System (IKS), and then we explain how it differs from that of the Digital Information System (DIS). We also point to the role of ICT in the DIS, and to their impact on improving the smartness of cities.

In this article, we focus on the role of Information and Communication Technologies - ICT - to create additional sources of competitive advantage that can help companies to prepare themselves for sustainable growth. First, we discuss the dynamics of ICTs and the ability to generate innovations with a direct impact on business. Then we present the need for greater balance between goals of short and long term on IT projects. In the third part, we discuss how these new technologies have helped to increase the productivity of information professionals as well as to enhance the decision-making process and the satisfaction of the end customer. To conclude, the main challenges that the technology-based companies will have to face in relation to the management of the lifecycle of their technology, is consolidation and simplification of their processes within their computing environments, aiming to increase productivity and develop agile environments that allow the organizations to meet the demands of managing digital information.

Palavras-Chave: Educação a Distância. Neurocognitive rehabilitation continues to face difficult challenges related to patient and institutional characteristics. This reality requires innovative solutions to increase patient motivation and involvement in the process, turning rehabilitation more meaningful and pleasurable, as well as to help therapists overcome difficulties such as the absence of material and human resources. Innovative rehabilitation techniques have the potential to create motivating, personalized, and ecologically valid tasks. In this chapter, the authors describe the reality of neurocognitive rehabilitation in acquired brain injury and present the advantages and potential of digital information and communication technologies, especially serious games and gamification. Distinctive elements of these solutions and a reflection on the evolution of this area are presented. In order to establish evidence-based practices, it will be necessary demonstrate unequivocally the development of competences by the patients, supported by these new solutions, and its generalization to real-life activities in future research.

If we want to convert our rural population into knowledge driven, progressive, self sufficient, self reliant, sustainable society, the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT’s) cannot be ignored. Timely availability information is considered as most important factor in Indian agriculture. At present ICT is the technology of this millennium. Transferring the developed technology to all end users is time-consuming and tiresome task and is often not completed due to paucity of resources and lack of manpower. In India, agriculture and rural development has gained significantly from ICT due to its widespread extension and adoption. In this era of internet, ICT is committed to provide real, timely accurate authentic information to the farmers and rural peoples.
