Conflicts caused by land occupation and modesof State intervention: analysis of an experience ofAlto Valle in Río Negro (Argentina)AbstractThis paper analyzes the relationship between State and land occupation,at Alto Valle in Río Negro, Argentina. Through its focus on the City of London as a particular work sector and setting, this paper emphasizes the symbolic and material significance of place to understanding the lived experiences of power relations within organizational life. The socio-cultural and material aspects of the City are explored through an analysis of the rhythms of place, as well through interview data. Using a methodological approach based on Lefebvre’s Rhythmanalysis in order to develop an embodied, immersive sense of how the City is experienced as a workplace, the paper makes a methodological, empirical and theoretical contribution to an understanding of the way in which rhythms shape how place is performed. Using rhythmanalysis as a method, the paper shows the relationship between rhythms and the performances of place, foregrounding a subjective, embodied and experiential way of researching the places and spaces of organizing.

Introduction. The article is devoted to the lorries work planning, the operational characteristics of which will make it possible to transport loads of different properties due to changes in the design of these vehicles. The purpose of the study is to develop a new scientific and methodological approach for planning the operation of trucks, which allows taking into account the compliance of a) the controlled parameters of the vehicle with the required values when making changes to the design, b) the planned volume of technical impacts to the required volume for the periods of operation of vehicles in certain conditions, c) the volume transportation in the contract for the planned production of vehicles for the transportation of various types of goods.Materials and methods. To plan the work of a lorry, taking into account changes in its design, it is required to use improved methods for optimizing the planning of the work of a freight motor transport enterprise, which is the relationship of activities for the transportation of goods, maintenance and current repair. The basis of the presented materials and methods is the scientific work of domestic and foreign scientists on the operation of cars with changes in its design; the main provisions of the Federal Laws in terms of permits for the operation of vehicles. The methodological basis of theoretical and experimental research is system analysis and logical analysis.Results. The authors have developed a scientific and methodological approach to planning the operation of a lorry, taking into account changes in its design to fulfill the terms of contracts and make a profit for the trucking company.Discussion and conclusions. The implementation and testing of the scientific and methodological approach were carried out according to the algorithm of the developed methodology in the operating conditions of a motor transport enterprise in the city of Omsk. A procedure was carried out to obtain a certificate from the traffic police after changes were made to the design of the KamAZ-53212 vehicle in order to operate it as a dump truck, and a calculation of costs and profits was made to fulfill the terms of contracts for the transportation of various types of goods.

Abstract In order to broaden the discussion on the safety of bicycle transport, this paper uses the analytical capacity of the spatial syntax applied to the recording of accidents involving cyclists in the city of Rolândia-PR, located in the Southern Region of Brazil. With the availability of 535 reports of trips made by bicycle mode, collected in the survey origin and destination of the city, a database was elaborated where each segment of the road received its numerical value from the loading of trips, and its corresponding values of choice and integration, generated in the Depthmap software. As a result, the relationship between the point of accident and the trip record by bicycle was refuted. In contrast, the angular values of choice and integration were sufficient to explain the occurrence of accidents involving cyclists in each segment of the municipal urban network, statistically proven through the generation of a generalized linear model. The contribution of this study focuses on the validity of using spatial syntax to predict safer routes, which is considered a theoretical-methodological approach that identifies priority routes for the implementation of specific infrastructure for bicycle transport.

What is the history of preserving, writing, exhibiting, theorizing, and imagining the history of Paris photographically? How, when, and to what end did photographs become interesting as historical evidence—and more specifically, evidence of the history of Paris—and to whom? These questions can be best answered by an institutional history of photo collecting in the city’s historical museum and library alongside an effort to traces the uses of photographs by amateur and popular historians, publishers, and photographers beyond their walls. This investigation builds on literatures about the city of Paris, its visual regimes, the relationship between history and memory, the role of the historical imagination, the reduction of Paris to an image, and histories of the “Visual Turn.” It deploys the cliché as a methodological approach to tell a new history about the relationship between Paris and its insistently photographic past.

This paper examines the issue of the relationship between agency and social structure in the language learning process. It looks at the extent to which contextual conditions impact on learners’ desire to invest in language learning. It employed the critical realist lens to explore the use of English as a foreign language (EFL) amongst undergraduate students in the city of Cancun, which was consciously created as a tourist hub in Mexico. English is identified as desired linguistic and cultural capital, a product of social structure, and students’ investment in language learning as examples of agency. A critical realist theoretical and methodological approach was taken to investigate, using an ethnographic qualitative approach to collecting and collating the data. Alongside a range of data, 11 student informants were taken for in-depth analysis to explore why language learners choose to shape or resist their access to EFL.

The question about the relationship between associative forms of participation and city production is the guideline of Latin American urban studies, widely studied in its intersection with popular sectors. This article seeks to link to that discussion, providing a case where the population involved belongs to the middle classes. To do this, we will analyze the process by which middle class youth collectively organized (2013-2015) in the city of La Plata (Argentina), to access urban land and, with it, a housing policy (PROCREAR). We will investigate how they built their claim on a public problem, moved within statehood and became co-producers of urban regulations (Ordinance 11094/13). Our main finding will be that the effectiveness of their practices rested, on the one hand, on factors specific to the group —broad and hierarchical networks of social relationships; collectivization of cultural capital; habituality within statehood— on the other, in the selectivity of state bureaucracies. Based on this, we will conclude that during the collective action of the middle classes in order to get involved in the production of the city, there was an active process of citizenship. The research starts from a qualitative methodological approach, using virtual ethnography, field observation and in-depth interviews as the main procedures.

This paper focuses on the relationship between economic intelligence (EI, understood in the informational sense of the term, Martre (1994) and performance. It raises the question of the impact of the deployment of EI on improving the company’s results. Our theoretical approach is based on the corpus of management of the EI system, which is a dedicated IS. The epistemological positioning is of the constructivist type and the methodological approach, of the qualitative type. As for our approach, it is based on an exploration based on a case study in the mobile phone sector investigated in 2018 in BurkinaFaso, especially in the city of Ouagadougou. Our results showthat steering the dynamics of EI improves the performance of the organization in the terms of achieving pre-established objectives. This case study addresses its own limits and it may be subject to some extensions in the future.

Abstract. TV news are essentially cultural phenomena. Previous research suggests that the often-overlooked formal and implicit characteristics of newscasts may be systematically related to culture-specific characteristics. Investigating these characteristics by means of a frame-by-frame content analysis is identified as a particularly promising methodological approach. To examine the relationship between culture and selected formal characteristics of newscasts, we present an explorative study that compares material from the USA, the Arab world, and Germany. Results indicate that there are many significant differences, some of which are in line with expectations derived from cultural specifics. Specifically, we argue that the number of persons presented as well as the context in which they are presented can be interpreted as indicators of Individualism/Collectivism. The conclusions underline the validity of the chosen methodological approach, but also demonstrate the need for more comprehensive and theory-driven category schemes.
