Resumo: O envelhecimento ainda é visto como uma etapa de dificuldades e bastante negligenciada. A mulher, em especial, é privada de expressar seus sentimentos ou mesmo de praticar atividades que lhe proporcionem prazer. O desafio está em adotar atividades que permitam o bem-estar dessa população. Surgem as danças circulares sagradas, em que as participantes se expressam pelo movimento, utilizando somente o corpo, participando ativamente de suas transformações e da modificação social. Assim, realizou-se uma pesquisa de campo com doze mulheres, praticantes das danças circulares, no Centro Livre de Artes, localizado em Goiânia (GO), com o intuito de identificar os benefícios destas danças na vida das participantes. De posse dos dados, procurou-se correlacioná-los à Terapia Ocupacional, profissão que busca a manutenção da autonomia e independência do indivíduo bem como sua integração social, a qual pode colaborar com esta prática, e vice-versa, para oferecer melhor qualidade de vida às idosas. The woman, especially, it is deprived of expressing their feelings or even of practicing activities that provide him/her pleasure. The challenge is in adopting activities to allow the well-being of that population. The sacred circular dances appear, in that the participants are expressed by the movement, using only the body, participating actively of their transformations and of the social modification. Like this, did took place a field research with twelve women, apprentices of the circular dances, in the Center Free from Arts, located in Goiânia (GO), with the intention of identifying the benefits of these dances in the participants' life. From ownership of the data, it tried to correlate them to the Occupational therapy, profession that looks for the maintenance of the autonomy and the individual's independence as well as his/her social integration, which can collaborate with this practice, and the opposite, to offer better life quality to the seniors. ResumoA dança é a arte de movimentar expressivamente o corpo seguindo movimentos ritmados, em geral ao som de música. Dessa forma, o significado da dança vai além da expressão artística, podendo ser vista como um meio para adquirir conhecimentos ou como opção de lazer. No campo de atuação do bacharelado, as investigações acadêmicas ainda são tímidas, urgindo de produções científicas que possam alimentar o campo científico sobre o tema. Dessa forma, o objetivo do estudo foi identificar e analisar as representações sociais que um grupo de bacharelandos do curso em Educação Física compartilha sobre a dança. A metodologia da pesquisa envolve uma abordagem qualitativa, tendo o estudo de campo como procedimento técnico. A amostra foi constituída por 200 indivíduos, sendo 85 homens e 115 mulheres com médias de idade entre 17 a 45 anos. A coleta de dados ocorreu através de questionário com associação livre de palavras, cujo termo indutor foi ”dança”. A análise foi feita por meio dos conteúdos das respostas. O resultado principal do estudo apontou que a maioria dos estudantes emprega sentido de dança como uma atividade técnica e a associam com saúde mental e bem-estar. Thus, the meaning of dance goes beyond artistic expression, and can be seen as a means to acquire knowledge or as a leisure option. In the field of performance of the bachelor's degree, academic investigations are still timid, urging scientific productions that can feed the scientific field on the theme. Thus, the objective of the study was to identify and analyze the social representations that a group of Physical Education course bachelors shares about dance. The research methodology is a qualitative approach, with the field study as a technical procedure. The sample consisted of 200 individuals, 85 men and 115 women with a mean age between 17 and 45 years. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire with free association of words, whose inducing term was, "dance". The analysis was done through the responses content. The main result of the study pointed out that most students use dance as a technical activity and associate it with mental health and well-being. Keywords: Social Representation. PE. Dance.

The article is devoted to the urgent problem of finding ways of social integration of senior citizens  to the conditions of the rapidly changing society. The main idea is to use the resources of life-long education for providing retired people  with the conditions to obtain information about the world on a systematic basis. The subject of the research are the form and the content of senior citizens’ lifelong education that is aimed at preserving their active life style and enriching their intrapersonal potential. The article gives the social-pedagogical model of lifelong uducation of elderly people that corresponds to their needs, and describes  the author's conceptual basis (openness of education, voluntariness, focus on the learners’ needs) and the content of the model (giving knowledge, developing skills, interaction and self-development training). The methods of the research are modeling and pedagogical natural experiment. The five-year experience of implementing the model of senior citizens’ lifelong education in the form of  "University of the Third Age" allows the authors to conclude that it is effective. In the students’ opinion, the educational programs of "University of the Third Age" meet their cognitive needs, provide their social integration, help them to maintain active life style, increase their satisfaction with the quality of their life. Thus, higher educational institutions can and should become the place where senior citizens can get education and training.

The recent COVID-19 pandemic led to uncertainty and severe health and economic concerns, which may have impacted human-dog relationships. Our objectives were to investigate how people perceived and acted during the COVID-19 pandemic social isolation, in regards to dog adoption and abandonment; and to examine the bidirectional relationships between dog owners’ well-being to that of their dogs. Overall, according to our analysis, the stricter the social isolation became during the pandemic, the interest in dog adoption as well as adoption rate increased significantly, while abandonment did not change. Moreover, there was a clear association between individuals’ impaired quality of life and their perceptions of poorer life quality of their dogs as well as the development of new behavioral problems. These findings suggest potential benefits for human-dog relationship during the COVID-19 pandemic, in compliance with the One Welfare approach.

Friendship has been studied along centuries, since ancient times to present-day, as the basis of the social cornerstone, present at all stages of the lifespan and belonging to the world of truthful sentiments. Benefits of friendship on health have been demonstrated. Less is known about the role of friendship on seniors. The aim of this case study has been to show how the end friendship developed in an adults’ school operating for more than 40 years in Barcelona is having a positive impact on the well-being and health of their participants. Through the communicative discussion group, we have deepened in the trajectories of some of the school participants. The results show how participation in the school and the dialogic gatherings have contributed to the emergence of a non-instrumental friendship feeling and to consider an impact on the perceived general wellness and health and an improvement of their life quality. It is discussed how this research provides more elements to the existing literature. More research on how other communitarian environments have similar effects on this population, or on the impact of these dialogical spaces in the development of end friendships in other stages of the life cycle would be of interest.

The article considers the types of readiness of specialists in physical therapy and occupational therapy to use health-preserving technologies in professional activities, which are determined by: scientific knowledge about the nature, patterns, features, principles, purpose, objectives and content of work to restore public health and implement such technologies. The main indicator of the effectiveness of specialist training is the psychological, pedagogical, professional, practical, social, personal and physical readiness of a specialist in physical therapy and occupational therapy to work to restore the health of the socio-component of our society. It is shown that the main property of a specialist in physical therapy and occupational therapy is a generalized ability to think pedagogically, which implies that the teacher has analytical, prognostic, design and reflexive skills. Features of both practical and professional readiness of the specialist are external (subject) skills, which include organizational and communication skills. The main types of readiness (professional, personal, psychological, physical, social, pedagogical and practical) of specialists in physical therapy and occupational therapy to use health technology in professional activities are described; the peculiarities of use in working with patients when compiling rehabilitation programs based on the International Classification are indicated. functioning, limitation of life and health, which aims to define a unified and standardized language and schemes for describing health and health-related conditions, which introduces the definition of the components of health and some related to health, components of well-being (in particular, such as education and work). This classification has moved away from the classification of "disease consequences" and has become a classification of "health components". The components of health determine the components of health, while the "consequences" focus on the impact of disease or other health conditions on the end result. The international classification of functioning, limitation of life and health is not nosologically oriented, but takes into account changes in health without regard to the facts, at the time of the examination. This classification is focused not only on the severity of the consequences of diseases, it for the first time emphasizes the adaptive and compensatory capabilities of the body, the importance of maximum involvement of people with special educational needs in public life, which deal with physical therapists and occupational therapists activities.

Introdução: Crianças têm um repertório de ocupações bem diverso, que engloba, principalmente, o brincar e a educação, e, para crianças negras que residem em comunidades periféricas dos grandes centros urbanos, os projetos sociais se tornam uma possibilidade de ocupação, como forma de promover o acesso a direitos básicos, favorecer o pleno exercício da cidadania e o combate ao racismo. Objetivo:identificar e compreender os significados de ocupar-se do Projeto Social Afrocine, vivenciado por crianças negras e voluntários de uma comunidade periférica de Belém-PA. Método: O presente estudo é uma pesquisa de campo do tipo qualitativo-descritivo, onde realizou-se entrevistas semiestruturadas com as crianças participantes e os voluntários do projeto social que evidenciaram a realidade e as dificuldades de crescer encarando as mais adversas questões de caráter racial. Conclusão: Esta pesquisa ajudou compreender o valor da Educação, Representatividade e Consciência Negra nesse contexto marcado por injustiças, e o quão significativas são para as crianças da comunidade que se ocupam do Projeto Social.Palavras-chave: Terapia Ocupacional. Objective: identifying and understanding the meanings of getting busy of the Afrocine Social Project, experienced by black children and volunteers from a peripheral community in Belém-PA, as well as the crossings of the social project in their lives. Method: The presente study is a qualitative-descriptive field research. In this way, semi-structured interviews were carried out with the participating children and the volunteers of the social project, which highlighted the reality and the difficulties of growing up facing the most adverse racial issues. Purpose Modern life is characterized by its hectic life-style, which invariably leads to high levels of stress having negative consequences for the mind-body. Thus, people are seeking for natural ways to achieve a sense of equilibrium and peace. Neuroscience has identified beneficial findings from contemplative practices like meditation, prayers and fasting. Within the Islamic framework, these practices were found to be beneficial for both the body and the mind. However, comparatively little research has been carried out on Islamic contemplative practices. Thus, there is a dire need to carry out further research, where the focus needs to be more on the inward aspects of Islam especially the contemplative practices. Design/methodology/approach The study took an integrated approach, whereby, objective experimental data from various sources were combined with the religious narratives from the Qur’an and the Hadiths or the practice of the Prophet in Islam. This was augmented by the subjective experiences of the participants of the study and all of these woven to present a case for Islamic contemplative practices. Findings Worship, be it Yogic, Buddhist and Islamic, seems to have positive mental and physical benefits for individuals. Much has been documented within the field of Yoga and Buddhist practices, and it is only recently that Islamic practices are beginning to be studied and are yielding similar results. It has been found that Islamic ritual prayers, fasting and meditation (dhikr) have an impact on the well-being of the worshipper. The communities of practice commonly known as “tariqas” and other religio-spiritual orders can serve as a vehicle to further these practices. This opens the door for more extensive research in this direction. Research limitations/implications This study clearly indicates that Islamic practices have positive benefits; however, the number of studies are limited. Moreover, there are a whole system of practices as the contemplative tree in this paper points out, which needs more robust as well as longitudinal studies to outline more conclusive evidence to this effect. Practical implications Muslims have been looking at other traditions like Yoga and Buddhist meditation to find ways of improving their physical and mental health. This meta-study indicates that Islamic contemplative practices have positive benefits, and thus, there are a variety of practices like ritual prayers, fasting and meditation, which is found to demonstrate positive health benefits. Thus, it has direct practical reasons to pursue these practices and derive the innate benefits from them. Social implications The data from the various neuroscience studies have demonstrated the neurological and physiological impact on individuals directly relating to worship. However, the studies on the Islamic ritual prayer (salat) cited in this study points out to its social implications, where congregational prayers was found to be more beneficial than the individual prayers. Thus, this indicates the social implications that collective worship can have. Further research is needed in terms of understanding the social impact on the various collective contemplative practices. Originality/value The originality of this literature review and analysis is bringing together the various strands of neuroscience and health data to demonstrate the positive impact of worship emanating from others faiths, while building a case for Islamic contemplative practices. This is further augmented by its integrated approach of weaving hard and soft data and synthesizing it to present health benefits of worship.

<p><strong>BACKGROUND:</strong> Periodontal diseases, such as periodontitis, are considered the main cause of tooth loss in the elderly.The present study is aimed to determine the relationship between periodontal condition and quality of life. Quality of life consists of a range of people’s objective needs related to the self-perception of well-being.</p><p><strong>METHODS:</strong> This study was done from January 2014 to June 2015 in a healthcare clinic in Zahedan, southeast Iran. Using the random sampling method, the researchers enrolled 700 individuals over 35 years of age. The participants initially completed a demographic questionnaire consisting of data, such as age, sex, educational level, and smoking habit. Then, the periodontal chart was completed. Moreover, patients, based on the number of their natural teeth, were divided into two groups (≥10 teeth in both maxillary and mandible arches and &lt;10 teeth in at least one arch). The body mass index (BMI) was also measured.To assess the participants’ general health, the WHO’s quality of life questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF) was used.</p><p><strong>RESULTS: </strong>Of the 700 enrolled individuals, 53.3% were womenand 47.7% were men. Moreover, most of the participants (63.71%) had BMI of less than 25 and 68% did not smoke.We found that as the people’s periodontal status deteriorated, their quality of life also declined and the total mean score in all four health domains decreased (P&lt;0.001)<strong>.</strong>Moreover, people with more than 10 teeth in both arches scored higher with respect to life quality than those with less than 10 teeth in at least one arch (P&lt;0.001).</p><p><strong>CONCLUSION: </strong>This studyindicates a decrease in the general quality of life in patients with periodontal disease.The authors suggest performing studies with larger sample sizes andcohort studies for more reliable results.</p>

Two experiments were conducted to measure both the psychological and physiological effects of touching on the HPA axis related parts of the body. HPA stands for the hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenal. One experiment was conducted with a group of healthy experiment participants, and another was with a group of traumatized participants who had Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE). In the experiments, the back of an experiment participant was touched, where a kidney-adrenal was supposed to reside, and both the psychological and physiological effects were measured. As a result, respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA), an indicator of the parasympathetic nerve system function and, especially, an indicator of the social engagement system increased, by a statistically significant degree, as a consequence of HPA touching in both the healthy and the trauma group, in comparison with the control. The traumatized participants had a lower RSA, and this was increased by HPA touching, accompanied by a decrease of the heart rate. It is worth noting that the social engagement function was possibly enhanced by HPA touching, especially in the trauma group, whose members tend to have difficulty being pro-social. This touching method is very simple, so it can be administered not only by oneself, but also by psycho-therapists and body workers in order to enhance both psychological and physiological well-being.
