This study has two purposes, the first is describing how the teacher’s preparation the instructional media and the second one is explaining how the teacher’s utilized the instructional media in teaching English to young learners. This study was conducted in SDN Baros Mandiri 3 Cimahi at fifth-grade students. To collect the data the researcher used observation in the classroom and interview with the English teacher. This method used a descriptive qualitative. The result of this study showed that in preparing the instructional media the teacher did two kinds of preparation. The English teacher’s stated that the preparation was: first, selecting the suitable instructional media related to the material that will be taught. Second, mastering the material for delivering to students. The instructional media used by the English teacher’s is flashcards, the English teacher’s stated that flashcards are mostly because it doesn’t need a lot of preparation. Flashcards are also useful to help the teacher in the learning process because the students can visualize the words through seen at the flashcards. The use of flashcards also easy, the teacher only needs to show one by one of the pictures to all students and they would be guessed the name of the pictures related to the material, students who can guess will come to the front of the class and write down the word in English.

AbstractThis paper critically aims to enhance English vocabularies among EFL young learners of the fifth grade students through picture-word inductive model at elementary school Zainul Hasan Genggong Probolinggo in the academic year of 2019-2020. The research problem is How is the effective picture-word inductive model to enhance vocabulary among young learners of elemantary school Zainul Hasan Genggong Probolinggo? The type of the research is classroom action research. It was conducted in two cycles. The subjects of the research were 20 students of fifth grade. The data were collected from the test, interview, documentation and observation. The result showed that the students had increased their English vocabulary mastery which can be seen from the test result provided by the researcher. This is the evident from the test result that overall there was an increase in the English vocabulary mastery of 5 grade students as much as 50.70 % in the first cycle and 85.54 % in the second cycle. Meanwhile, the observation result showed that the students seemed more enthusiastic during the learning process.  In reference to the actions conducted in two cycles, the use of the picture-word inductive model enhances the students’ vocabulary by practicing words into sentences and more attention on mechanical aspects such as spelling and pronunciation. Keywords : Young Learners, Vocabulary Mastery, Picture-word inductive model.

This research was designed to analyze the use of code-swtiching by teacher in teaching English. The subjects of this research were some English teacher of the eleventh graders of SMK Perwari Tulungagung, majoring in Office Administration. This class was chosen because the teacher used two languages (English and Indonesian) in the teaching process. Because the students had difficulties in understanding the teacher’ explanation if the teacher used English all the time,  the teacher sometimes needed to code-switch to Indonesian during the teaching and learning process. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative because the data are in the form of words and sentences. The techniques of collecting the data are observation, interview, and note taking. The findings show that the English teacher sometimes code-switch to Indonesian in the teaching and learning process in order to ensure that their students can really understand the explanations being given.

The material of composing lesson (insyā’) was important for fifth grade students at Al-Manar boarding school to study. However, most students were bored and less motivated to participate in the class. The main cause of this problem is due to the traditional methods used by teachers. They did not use various medias in instructional process, besides there is no handbook. Moreover, the problem faced by the teacher in this teaching learning process was the students’ motivation. They feel bored with traditional methods used by teachers, and some students do not understand the meaning of words taught. It caused by their lackness in mastering vocabularies and Arabic grammar skills (qawā’id). Based on the problem above, this research implements picture series to develop students’ abilities in instructional process of composing lesson. The method used in this study was experimental study. The result of the study shows that the development of students’ abilities in Arabic composition by using picture series was very effective. Vocabulary as one of English component and it’s very important to learn. Before the students master the four skills they have to know some vocabularies to support them in learning English. English vocabulary as one of the language skill elements has an important role for young learners in learning foreign languages. In presenting English, especially vocabulary, the teacher should be creative in choosing materials and able to stimulate the student's interest. The teacher needs to manipulate some strategies to support the teaching and learning process. Teaching English for young learner is different from teaching adults in a way that they are often more enthusiastic, active and easily adaptive than adults. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research. This research is a descriptive qualitative research that focuses on vocabulary building strategy in teaching vocabulary to young learners. It describes the technique and method used by the teacher in teaching English vocabulary to young learner.

Media in learning process is very intact because it will be supported from  the learning to be more easily exposed. Many experts say that with the media, it can help teachers and students in the learning process to be able and achieve the goals of the learning process. This research aimed it introducing and describing how the  preparation and utilization of the flash cards media are used by teachers in teaching English to young learners. This research was conducted at SDN Baros Mandiri 2 Cimahi. The method used in this research is the descriptive research in accordance with the case study that occurred. The source of the data was the English teacher and the subjects were the second grade students of SDN Baros Mandiri 2 Cimahi. Observation, interviews and documentation are the data collection techniques used in this research. The findings reveal that teachers use flash card media according to the material to be delivered to young learners. Based on the results of the research the flash card media can help facilitate teachers in the delivery of learning material, students are also more enthusiastic, excited and very happy to learn English and very influential in the teaching and learning process.  Keywords:  instructional media, utilization of instructional media, flash Card

This research aims to investigate the use of fractional cards on teaching in the fifth grade students of Elementary School. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The researcher used observation, interview, and documentation to collect the data. The results showed that there was an increase on the students' enthusiasm for learning process, and there were 27 students (69.23%) that have a score above the Minimum Criteria of Mastery (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal/KKM). The study concludes that the use of fractional cards able to help the learning process on the fractions material of the fifth grade students of Elementary School.

Abstract: Teaching English for Young Learners Using a Digital Comic Strip. Since young learners get bored easily, English teachers should be creative in designing the instruction in order to make it interesting for the students. One of the ways that can be done by the English teachers to make their teaching and learning process becomes an interesting activity is by providing good teaching media. It is believed that young learners love story and colorful teaching media. Therefore, this article aims at explaining how to create a colorful digital comic strip and how to use it for teaching English. Specifically, this article discusses about: (1) the role of story in teaching English for young learners; (2) how to design and develop a digital comic strip; (3) how to teach English for young learners using a digital comic strip; and (4) the benefits of teaching English for young learners using a digital comic strip. It is expected that this article could give enough information for those English teachers who want to teach English for young learners using a digital comic strip. Untuk itu artikel ini akan menjelaskan mengenai cara mengembangkan komik strip digital berwarna dan strategi untuk mengajar Bahasa Inggris menggunakan komik strip digital tersebut. This research is about the use of powerpoint as the instructional media in teaching english for young learners at the first semester of the sixth grade students of SDN Baros Mandiri 5. The objective of this research are to analyze the use of powerpoint as the instructional media in teaching english for young learners. Data is collected through observation and interview. The reseacher chose class VIB as sample which consisted of 30 students. The data is then analyzed using observation sheets. The observations is began at 08.30 - 09.40 for 2 x 35 minutes with the teaching material "Go Green Save the Earth". Based on the results of media observations in the learning process of children and interviews with teachers, the media used by teachers in class VI is good and effective. The media used is powerpoint which is powerpoint is very helpful for teachers to prepare teaching materials and can help attract students' interest and attention so students can learn well. Keywords:  PowerPoint, Young Learners, Instructional Media

Teaching English for Young Learner is not easy for several students. They face the obstacles in applying the science of pedagogy for Young Learners. The also have barriers to interact with children. However the teaching learning process may enjoyable if both of teachers and learners get fun together. This research examines what obstacles faced by several students when  teaching English for Young Learners. This study also aims to explore the phenomenon of how reducing these anxiety. This research uses descriptive qualitative. There are seven persons as  participants in this research. The result shows that they feel dizzy, anxious, and various other anxiety symptoms. They are  anxious about lack of focus of young learners, mispronounce, inappropriate action, and unruly learners. The copping strategies are : prepare and understand the material correctly, find out students’ characteristics, take a breath, and drink. They reduce the anxiety while teaching English for young learners with well prepare and the result are  tranquility, believe, and pleasures. Keywords: copping strategies, reducing anxiety, teaching EYL

Teaching English to young learners is not an easy task. Teacher needs to use appropriate learning strategies so the students are engaged and motivated in teaching and learning process. The current study aimed at identifying the teaching English strategies used by fifth grade English teacher and the problems encountered by teacher in teaching English for young learner. This study was a descriptive qualitative research and conducted in SD Suta Dharma Denpasar Bali. In collecting the data, classroom observation and interview were conducted. The result showed that there were eight strategies applied by teacher in teaching English. They are; listen and repeat, listen and do, question and answer, in-pair, cooperative learning, and games. Furthermore, the problems experienced by teacher were lack of media of teaching English and lack of knowledge of strategy in TEYL. The problems occurred because the teacher has a limited knowledge on how to teach English for young learners and the lack of resources of teaching media available in school.
