The Moment

This article examines some of the microskills associated with the moment-to-moment decisions and actions of supervisors within cognitive-behavioral supervision. Through a theoretical review and practice illustration, the article outlines the role of supervisors’ dialogue and questioning styles in promoting effective learning. The article also provides a potential guide to the training of supervisors and thereby attempts to benefit clinical practices in general.

The article analyzes the role of the educational game as a means of organizing the speech activity of medical students in English. The authors of the article emphasize the need to use active teaching methods in the educational process while learning English. It has been established that games in English classes can be divided into the following categories: games aimed at mastering new vocabulary; games aimed at grammatical material consolidation; communication games aimed at developing students’ monologs and dialogs. Methods, goals and tasks for forming a communicative model are highlighted. Examples of interaction between a teacher and a student are analyzed. It is noted that the conduct of professional games has a multi-faceted approach and is carried out according to a certain model. Systematic and purposeful use of games as a method of teaching English to medical students contributes to the effective learning in the educational process.

One effort to increase effective learning in schools is the role of the principal in supervising learning, because the success or failure of teaching programs in schools is largely determined by the principal as a leader. Leadership is a very important factor in influencing organizational work performance, because leadership is the main activity where organizational goals can be achieved (Nuchiyah: 2007). According to Muhani (2016: 1465) leadership is one of the problems that arise along with human awareness of the importance of living in groups to achieve common goals.

This paper outlines briefly, some views of the term “ Educational Technology” and its role generally in the field of education as evident from research findings. The urgent need for low-cost educational technology for schools and colleges in Nigeria is discussed. Attention is also drawn to the need to re-orient the teacher to his task, if new methods and media are to be used successfully. Finally, it is further suggested that future use of the achieved methods and media may differ radically depending among other things on the objectives to be achieved and the en­try behaviour of the students, particularly when we employ the low-cost educational technology for effective learning hnd teaching. The importance of an Educational Resource Centre, and Teachers’ Resource Centre are among other things strongly suggested.

Researchers in the field of online learning have raised concerns over its lack of focus on the affective/emotional aspect of the online learning experience, despite a strong research base indicating the important role that emotions play in successful and effective learning (Ch’ng, 2019). Utilizing a phenomenological methodological approach, the researchers interviewed online students and coded transcripts based on Noddings’ Ethics of Care Framework (1984) to explore the phenomenon of care in online learning in an effort to bridge this gap and deepen our understanding of the feeling of caring and being cared-for. These findings add to the literature on the role of emotions in online learning as viewed through the lens of care-theory. The findings highlight course design issues and instructor behaviors that promote a climate of care in an online environment from a learner perspective. These findings may be of benefit to inform future teacher preparation programs.

AS more teachers move into new areas such as enterprise-based workplace education, concerns have been expressed regarding the deprofessionalisation of their work. This article explores an approach to workplace education, within a manufacturing environment, which not only re-defines the work of teachers in ways which utilise, enhance and extend their skills, but also values the role of professional educators in advising industry personnel on matters relating to learning and assisting in the development of learning frameworks. It is argued that when competence is contextualised and viewed holistically, and the subsequent training program is based on the complex reality of the particular workplace, all the professional skills of teachers are required to design effective learning strategies. If the resultant educational program is also to be responsive to the needs of the learners and sufficiently flexible to encompass changes in the workplace as they occur, its development and implementation will pose a unique challenge to teachers.

The paper focuses on the role of group work in the foreign language class as an effective technique for developing language learners’ analytical thinking, as well as communication skills. The paper states that despite the cognitive, psychological and social benefits that group work provides, it is hardly ever used in the Armenian formal educational setting where the whole studying process is teacher-centered rather than learning-centered. The authors strongly believe that implementing group work into the Armenian educational establishments will stimulate effective learning and teaching. Group work will provide Armenian EFL students with opportunities for developing skills like organization, negotiation, team work and co-operation which they very often lack.

BACKGROUND The importance of the students in the development of the medical curriculum has been very well known. The valuable perspective and insight of the medical students is very essential in the development of new student-centred teaching modules with student friendly methodology, tools and learning resource materials to increase students’ interest improving their understanding and competence in anatomy and eventually create better doctors and for better patient outcomes. In view of this, an interventional study was carried out to study the role of undergraduate medical students in designing teaching module in anatomy for effective learning. METHODS An interventional study was carried out from October 2019 to March 2020 in the Department of Anatomy, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha. 230 first MBBS students and 50 students i.e., 25 students from each 2nd MBBS and 3rd MBBS participated voluntarily. A routine didactic lecture was conducted for first year MBBS students. Perception was taken with the structured proforma (using Likert scale) from all the students and data analysis was done. A panel was formed with 50 volunteered students from 2nd MBBS and 3rd MBBS who were given responsibility to form module (instructions for the teacher). Then lecture was again conducted for the first year MBBS students incorporating the instructions from the module framed after considering input from data analysis of perception of first MBBS students and from panel of second MBBS and third MBBS students. The data was analysed statistically, using descriptive and inferential statistics using chisquare test. Software used in the analysis were Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 24.0 version and GraphPad Prism 7.0 version. RESULTS After data analysis, it was observed that after implementation of instructions from module there was improvement in all parameters of teaching learning methodology, tools used and learning resource material. The difference was statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS It is evident from the present study that when the teaching learning methodology, teaching learning tools and learning resource materials are designed considering the inputs from the techno savvy students, it is accepted and beneficial for effective learning while still keeping a tinge of the traditional methodology.
