(1) Background: Clinical reasoning is essential to the effective practice of autonomous health professionals and is, therefore, an essential capability to develop as students. This review aimed to systematically identify the tools available to health professional educators to evaluate students’ attainment of clinical reasoning capabilities in clinical placement and simulation settings. (2) Methods: A systemic review of seven databases was undertaken. Peer-reviewed, English-language publications reporting studies that developed or tested relevant tools were included. Searches included multiple terms related to clinical reasoning and health disciplines. Data regarding each tool’s conceptual basis and evaluated constructs were systematically extracted and analysed. (3) Results: Most of the 61 included papers evaluated students in medical and nursing disciplines, and over half reported on the Script Concordance Test or Lasater Clinical Judgement Rubric. A number of conceptual frameworks were referenced, though many papers did not reference any framework. (4) Conclusions: Overall, key outcomes highlighted an emphasis on diagnostic reasoning, as opposed to management reasoning. Tools were predominantly aligned with individual health disciplines and with limited cross-referencing within the field. Future research into clinical reasoning evaluation tools should build on and refer to existing approaches and consider contributions across professional disciplinary divides.

The existing LBL (lecture-based learning) and CBL (case-based learning) teaching modes of English majors in colleges and universities do not contribute to cultivating students’ inquisitive thinking and independent learning ability, whereas the problem-centered PBL (problem-based learning) teaching mode can precisely make up for these shortcomings. This study firstly constructed a PBL “four-step” teaching mode and then realized the innovative application of PBL teaching model in the teaching of English majors in new universities. Then, we designed a method of English classroom resource optimization based on IMOCS-BP neural network, and then, the classroom resource optimization reconstructs the teaching process with unique connotation essence. The experiments show that the BL “four-step” teaching model is designed to achieve the four key elements of “flexible English learning environment, transformed learning the culture, customized content and professional educators”; the designed neural network has optimized the English classroom resources.

Abstract Background Resilience is recognized as a critical component of well-being and is an essential factor in coping with stress. There are issues of using a standardized resilience scale developed for one cultural population to be used in the different cultural populations. This study aimed to create a specific measurement scale for measuring doctors’ resilience levels in the rural Indonesian context. Method A total of 527 rural doctors and health professional educators joined this study (37 and 490 participants in the pilot studies and the survey, respectively). An indigenous psychological approach was implemented in linguistic and cultural adaptation and validation of an existing instrument into the local Indonesian rural health context. A combined method of back-translation, committee approach, communication with the original author, and exploratory qualitative study in the local context was conducted. The indigenous psychological approach was implemented in exploring the local context and writing additional local items. Result The final questionnaire consisted of six dimensions and 30 items with good internal consistency (Cronbach’s α ranged 0.809–0.960 for each dimension). Ten locally developed items were added to the final questionnaire as a result of the indigenous psychological approach. Conclusion An indigenous psychological approach may enrich the linguistic and cultural adaptation and validation process of an existing scale.

This study aimed to improve understanding of graduate students’ digital preferences and perceptions to prepare them for work in the digitally enabled health sector. We surveyed 361 students from five disciplines to create a baseline of their digital capabilities. Results show that students were confident in engaging with day-to-day technologies required for discipline-specific learnings and most were reasonably aware of digital privacy and security. However, only 11% of the students reported having sufficient university support and services to develop their digital skills and competencies, and only 39% of the students believed they have the relevant skills for entering the workforce. To improve their understanding in this area, students attended a digital skills and employability workshop that was developed in partnership with teaching specialists, learning and teaching librarians and career services coordinators. Post-workshop findings show that this learning intervention positively impacted students’ understanding of their own digital capabilities and increased their awareness of the importance of this core skill for both the university and the workforce. Teaching staff can use these findings to improve student digital learning in health professional curricula, which will contribute to knowledge transfer and communication with digital health employers. Implications for practice or policy: Heath professional educators can bridge the gap in digital practices between graduates and the workplace by understanding students’ baseline digital skills and competencies and developing targeted learning opportunities within the curriculum to support students’ digital confidence, experience, attitudes and understandings of digital practices and digital skills and competencies. Students’ digital skills and competencies can be enhanced by facilitating dialogue between universities, employers and accrediting bodies in the health sector to set consistent and realistic expectations.

AbstractThe educator's producer institution is required to improve quality to be able to produce great graduates. This paper presents the research results on the readiness of the educator's producer institution at Raden Intan State Islamic Institute in preparing professional teacher candidates through the Pre-service Professional Teacher training program. This study uses a qualitative approach, using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The inductive data analysis results obtained several conclusions: First, based on accreditation status, academic position, education level, and the ratio of lecturers and students, only three study programs have met the criteria. Second, the program for improving and developing instructional activities, partnership networks, and quality assurance has been running effectively. Third, the high interest of prospective students entering the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training IAIN Raden Intan Lampung supports preparing professional educators. Meanwhile, the student selection process that puts aside the exploration of interests and talents and applied competencies, the limitations and lack of infrastructure, and the weak socialization of policies related to Pre-service PPG are part of the many inhibiting factors LPTKs in preparing prospective professional educators.

The role of teachers in educational institutions in this era must at least know the duties of teachers as professional educators, namely educating, teaching, guiding, directing, training, assessing, and evaluating students in early childhood education. The main purpose of this study is to find out how the teacher's ability to explore technological mathematical knowledge is in teaching mathematics in the classroom. The research paradigm adopted in this study is qualitative research. The main sample in this study were 24 teachers who teach at Changling Xiwang Elementary School. This research was carried out from March to May of the 2020/2021 academic year. The results showed that the teacher's perception of technological abilities in teaching technology-based mathematics, the ability of mathematics teachers to teach mathematics, and the ability of technology-assisted mathematics teachers to teach mathematics in class were categorized as good. These results indicate that most of the teacher's abilities are classified as good about using technology in teaching mathematics. The research suggests furthering researchers to be able to develop technology-based learning media, especially in the field of mathematics in teaching mathematics material in the classroom. Teachers in this century are advised to keep up with the times that are filled with facilities based on information and communication technology (ICT).

Educators want to assess learners using assessment processes that provide valid measures of learner ability. An ideal assessment tool would include items that are appropriate for assessing the target attributes. Ideal assessment results would accurately differentiate learners across the spectrum of ability, determine which learners satisfied the required standard and enable comparison between learner cohorts (e.g., across different years). Similar considerations are relevant to researchers who are designing or revising methods used to gather other kinds of assessment data, such as participant responses to surveys or clinical measurements of performance. Analysing assessment scores using Rasch analysis provides information about scores and the nature of each assessment item, and analysis output guides refinement of assessment. However, few health professional educators have published research that includes Rasch modelling methods. It may be that health professional educators find the language used to describe Rasch analysis to be somewhat impenetrable and that this has, to date, limited engagement in exploring applications for Rasch. In this paper, we lay out an overview of the potential benefits of Rasch analysis in health professional education and research.
