A field experiment was conducted in the Experimental Research Farm of School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD), Nagaland University during the kharif season 2018. Groundnut variety ICGS-76 was sown @ 70 kg ha-1 for 60×20 cm2 spacing. The experiment was laid in split plot design with three replications. The main plot treatments consisted of two lime levels: lime @ 0 t ha-1 and lime @ 3 t ha-1 while the sub- plot treatments consisted of five sulphur levels: sulphur @ (0 kg ha-1, 10 kg ha-1, 20 kg ha-1, 30 kg ha-1 and 40 kg ha-1 along with recommended dose of fertilizer at 20:60:40 kg N, P2O5 and K2O ha-1 respectively in the form of diammonium phosphate and murate of potash. The results showed that application of lime @ 3 t ha-1 gave higher growth and yield attributes compared to no lime and also application of sulphur @ 40 kg ha-1 gave higher growth and yield attributes compared to lower doses of sulphur though there was only slight increase in the attributes between each successive doses of sulphur. Overall application of lime and sulphur increased all the yield attributes of groundnut, where the highest number of pods plant-1, seeds pod-1, 100 kernels weight, pod yield, kernel yield and stover yield were recorded when treatment was done with lime @ 3 t ha1 and sulphur @ 40 kg ha-1.

Background: Groundnut is one of the most important oilseed crops of India. Improving productivity of groundnut to meet the domestic vegetable oil demand through balanced fertilization is the prime challenge lying before the agronomists in the country. With the aim of evaluating phosphogypsum as a source of sulphur nutrition in groundnut, a field experiment entitled “Response of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) to different levels and time of phosphogypsum nutrition” was conducted at Agronomy field unit, University of Agricultural Sciences Bangalore, during kharif-2019. Methods: Experiment was laid out in randomised complete block design (RCBD) with eleven treatments, of which eight have different combinations of phosphogypsum applied as basal and in split (30 DAS) and one with gypsum as basal alone. Whereas, the remaining two treatments, without any additional source of sulphur are included for comparison. Result: Among eleven treatments, application of phosphogypsum @ 125 kg S eq ha-1 in split recorded highest yield attributes, pod yield (2063 kg ha-1), kernel yield (1418 kg ha-1) and sulphur uptake (11.33 kg ha-1). Which were on par with 100 kg S eq ha-1 in split (2014, 1380 and 10.39 kg ha-1, respectively). All other treatments recorded lower values with lowest in treatments without any additional sulphur source.

The present investigation entitled “Effect of sowing dates and establishment methods on growth and yield of kharif groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) under lateritic soil” was conducted at Agronomy Farm, Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Dapoli, Dist. Ratnagiri (M.S.) during kharif season of 2015. The results revealed that, groundnut crop sown in 23rd MW with broad bed furrow method of sowing produced higher growth and yield attributes as compared to other sowing dates and establishment methods respectively. The crop sown in 23rd MW recorded highest kernel (17.25 q ha-1) and haulm (40.25 q ha-1) yield over remaining sowing dates also broad bed furrow method of sowing produced highest kernel (16.81 q ha-1) and haulm (38.86 q ha-1) yield as compared to flatbed method of sowing.

An experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2016 and 2017 at College of Agriculture, Gwalior. To optimise plant population and fertility levels an experiment was laid out in split plot design, replicated thrice in fixed plots and the test variety of the crop groundnut (Mallika) was used. The plant geometry of 30 × 10 cm, 25 × 10 cm and 20 × 10 cm was adopted with three fertility levels as 75, 100 and 125% recommended dose of fertilizers. The yield and economics were increased by optimization of plant geometry and nutrient management under kharif groundnut. Sowing of crop at 30×10 cm spacing resulted in 7.3 and 4.3 % higher pod yield over 25×10 cm and 20×10 cm spacing, respectively and 3.0 % higher haulm yield over 25×10 cm. Similarly, application of 125% RDF resulted in 3.0 and 9.3 % higher pod yield over 100% RDF and 75% RDF, respectively but application of 100% RDF resulted in 18.6% higher haulm yield over 75% RDF and was at par with 125 % RDF application. The highest gross, net returns and B:C ratio was obtained at the spacing of 30×10 cm with 125% RDF.

Peanuts (Arachis hypogaea L.) are the second main commodity in the annual cropping pattern in lowland and dryland in North Lombok District of NTB Province. However, peanut productivity is still low, and it varies across regions, which might be due to the traditional crop management of farmers and the difference in land suitability classes. Effects of  crop varieties and land suitability on the peanut productivity have not been evaluated in the Region. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the productivity and profitability of peanut varieties at various land classification in KLU NTB. The experiment was arranged in a Split Plot Design consisting of three classes of land suitability as main plot and six peanut varieties as sub-plot with three replications. The results showed that the land suitability classes have a significant effect on the agronomic variables of peanut varieties, including plant height, number of branches, number of pods and productivity. The highest peanut yield was obtained at suitable land class (S1), followed by moderately suitable land class (S2) and marginally suitable land class (S3) at 2.37 ton.ha-1, 2.08 ton.ha-1 and 1.71 ton.ha-1, respectively. Likewise, the R/C ratio follows a similar pattern to productivity in various land suitability classes. The highest yield (above 2 ton.ha-1) in each land suitability class was produced by Kelinci variety, followed by Tuban, Bima and Talam varieties. Those varieties have potential prospective to be developed in North Lombok Regency.

To study the “Effects of sowing time and spacing on growth and yield of chick pea for green pod in Middle Gujarat Agro-Climatic Condition” was conducted at Agricultural Research Station, Anand Agricultural University, Derol during 2015-16 to 2017-18. The experiment was laid out in a Split Plot Design (SPD) with three replications, comprising date of sowing (6) as a main plot and Spacing (2) sub plot of chick pea total thirty six treatment combinations. The results showed that the 1st Oct. (40th Std. week) sowing recorded significantlyhighergreen pod yield (1554, 1713, 1861 and 1709 kg/ha) was found in GG-2 variety during the all the year and pooled analysis.However, in case of spacing S2 (45x10 cm) recorded higher green pod in yield (1144, 1486, 1568 and 1399 kg/ha) was found non-significant during first two year, while significant in third year and pooled analysis.

Background: Groundnut is one of the most important oilseed crops of Odisha and grown in both in kharif and rabi-summer seasons. Because of excessive vegetative growth in kharif season, the yield potential is lower than rabi-summer resulting in low yield. Keeping this in view, an experiment was set up to investigate the effect of different concentration and time of paclobutrazol application on growth and yield of groundnut.Methods: A field experiment was conducted during kharif 2016 to 2018 at AICRP on Groundnut Research Farm, OUAT, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with different concentration of paclobutrazol in main plot and time of application in sub plot and replicated thrice. Recommended dose of 20:40:40 kg of N, P2O5 and K2O entirely applied as basal. Yield and yield attributing characters were taken at the time of harvest.Conclusion: Application of paclobutrazol at different concentration significantly reduced groundnut plant height and significant reduction was observed with application at 30 DAE. Among various yield attributing characters; pod/plant and pod yield increased significantly (24.6% and 27.4%, respectively) with application of paclobutrazol @ 100 ppm with higher benefit cost ratio of 1.97 and upto (8.4% and 17.5%) with application at 30 DAE.

An experiment was conducted during Kharif seasons of 2009 and 2010 on groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) under western dry zone of India following a split-plot design with four dates of sowing (April 20, May 15, June 9 and July 4) and two varieties (HNG 10 and TG 37A) in main- plot and four fertility levels (0, 20 N : 40 P2O5, 30 N : 60 P2O5 and 40 N : 80 P2O5 kg /ha) in sub-plot. Yield component of semispreading variety ‘HNG 10’ i.e. pods/plant, number of kernel/pod, seed index, shelling percentage and yields i.e. pod, kernel, haulm and biological yield were statistically at par with each other from April 20 to June 9 sowing and minimum yield was observed in July 4 sowing, while days to maturity reduced significantly with delay sowing. Variety ‘TG 37A’ sown at July 4 had significantly higher yield attributes and yields than earlier sowing. Harvest index in both the varieties was observed significantly higher in July 4 sowing. Significantly higher yield components and yields were recorded in 30 kg N-60 kg P2O5/ha which was statistically at par with 40 kg N-80 kg P2O5/ha. On the basis of economics, June 9 sowing variety ‘HNG 10’ of groundnut recorded significantly higher net return. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/bjb.v43i2.21669 Bangladesh J. This study aims to identify and study the effect of plant spacing and chicken manure fertilizers on growth and yield of peanut. This research was conducted at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture Land Dictionary Universitas Soerjo Ngawi, East Jawa , took place from Desember 2019  to March  2020 .The method used is a plot design Separated (Split Plot Design) with nine combinations of treatments and three replications. The main plot (main plot) is a spacing (A), J1 20 cm x 20 cm, 30 cm x 20 J2 cm, J3 40 cm x 20 cm, as a subplot (sub-plots) is the dose of compost (P), P1 5 tons / ha, P2 10 tons / ha, P3 15 tons / ha. Parameters observed that plant height (cm), number of primary branches (branch), the overall weight of pod (g), number of pods containing (pod), the number of empty pods (legumes), berangkasan wet weight (g), dry berangkasan weight (g ), 100 seed weight (g).Based on the results of analysis of variance showed that the spacing of chicken manure fertilizer rate and not significant for all variables observed. Treatment interaction effect was not significant on all observed variables, but the variables significantly.

Twenty Spanish bunch groundnut genotypes were evaluated for genetic parameters of 19 characters of morphological, physiological, yield and yield attributes over three seasons viz., Late Kharif (2012), Rabi (2012-13) and Summer (2013). The pooled data over three environments revealed that the genotype JL 24 showed lowest mean value for days to maturity, highest mean value for SCMR at 40 DAS and SCMR at 50 DAS. The genotype Abhaya showed highest mean value for pod yield per hectare and oil yield per hectare. Results indicated that PCV estimates were higher than those of GCV for all the characters studied indicating the influence of environment in varying degrees on all the characters. The results revealed that highest GCV was observed for pod yield per plant. Moderate heritability accompanied with high genetic advance as per cent of mean was recorded for pod yield per plant, pod yield per hectare (q), kernel yield per plant (g), kernel yield per hectare (q) and oil yield per hectare (q) indicating the preponderance of additive gene action which may be exploited through simple selection procedures.
