This is descriptive research to find out school readiness in terms of N.S.T (Nijmeegse Schoolbekwaamheids Test) test results. Research uses quantitative approach. Subject of the research is students of early childhood education Al Husna Kindergarten B level in Pengging Boyolali which will enter elementary school. Number of research subject is 32 students. Measuring instrument used on the research is N.S.T (Nijmeegse Schoolbekwaamheids Test) and also observation. Analysis of data will be done quantitatively with simple statistic technique. Result of the research shows that from 32 students, 50% stated has readiness as much 16 students, 40,6% is quite ready as much 13 students meanwhile not ready is 9,4% as much 3 students.The most prominent aspect in its level of maturity is aspect of form observations and the ability to distinguish which is 84,4% for 27 students. The least aspect on the task of understanding the story is 25% for 8 students. Qualitatively, school readiness aspect from cognitive aspect is observation and the ability to distinguish, notions of big, number and comparison, concentrate and memory already reaches a fairly optimal level of maturity. Meanwhile related aspect with understanding stories and pictures of people skill the level of preparedness is not yet optimal.

O presente estudo apontou os desdobramentos da utilização do Role-Playing Game (RPG) explorando temas relacionados ao Folclore na educação infantil. Assim sendo, o texto que segue é resultado do desenvolvimento de todas as etapas que foram criadas para a aplicação do projeto de pesquisa. As etapas aqui apresentadas são uma síntese dos tópicos mais importantes que foram utilizados para o desenrolar da atividade central do projeto, a saber, a criação e a aplicação do jogo de RPG sobre o folclore brasileiro para crianças do Ensino Fundamental I, de um núcleo educacional da cidade de Porto União-SC. Dessa forma, o texto aqui apresentado se divide nas seguintes etapas: 1 – o brincar e o aprender e sua conexão com o RPG; 2 – a relação brincar/aprender com a nova BNCC; 3 - o brincar e sua relação com o desenvolvimento infantil; 4 – A aplicação do RPG para o ensino do folclore; 5 – a metodologia da pesquisa; 6 – uma breve explanação sobre o produto educacional; 7 – resultados e discussão e 8 – considerações finais. Vale destacar que como metodologia optou-se pela pesquisa descritiva vinculada a abordagem qualitativa. Esta forma de pesquisa teve como foco principal a intenção de aproximar o conhecimento da vida dos estudantes da faixa etária pré-escolar com os saberes populares ligados ao folclore. Os resultados alcançados correspondem com a finalidade primordial pensada para o projeto, a saber, a capacidade de ensinar um conteúdo diferente com um método de ensino igualmente diferente. Não há dados estatísticos para mensurar o nível de aprendizagem, pois a verdadeira intenção do projeto foi a de ensinar brincando. Palavras-chave: Educação Infantil. Role-Playing Game (RPG). ABSTRACT: The present study pointed out the consequences of using the Role-Playing Game (RPG) exploring themes related to Folklore in early childhood education.  Therefore, the text that follows is the result of the development of all the steps that were created for the application of the research project.  The steps presented here are a synthesis of the most important topics that were used to carry out the central activity of the project, namely, the creation and application of the RPG game about Brazilian folklore for elementary school children, from an educational center in the city of Porto União-SC.  Thus, the text presented here is divided into the following stages: 1 - playing and learning and its connection with the RPG; 2 - the play / learn relationship with the new BNCC; 3 - playing and its relationship with child development; 4 - The application of RPG for teaching folklore; 5 - the research methodology; 6 - a brief explanation of the educational product; 7 - results and discussion and 8 - final considerations. It is worth mentioning that as a methodology, we opted for descriptive research linked to a qualitative approach. This form of research had as main focus the intention of bringing the knowledge of the life of the students of the preschool age group with the popular knowledge linked to folklore.  The results achieved correspond to the primary purpose thought for the project, namely, the ability to teach different content with an equally different teaching method. There is no statistical data to measure the level of learning, as the real intention of the project was to teach while playing. Keywords: Early Childhood Education. Role-Playing Game (RPG). Folklore. <p class="ResumoRevista"><strong>Resumo: </strong>O ensino de programação pode oferecer importantes contribuições ao desenvolvimento dos estudantes. Vários movimentos incentivam o ensino de programação nas escolas por meio de eventos como os da Hora do Código. A plataforma Code.org é um ambiente utilizado para promoção destes eventos que disponibiliza gratuitamente jogos educacionais para o ensino de programação. Este trabalho relata a experiência da participação de alunos de 2º a 5º ano de Ensino Fundamental I de uma escola pública em um destes eventos ocorrido no Estado do XXXXXX. Os resultados positivos motivaram a escola a estender as atividades com a plataforma Code.org para alunos de 1º ano e Educação Infantil. Os resultados dessas experiências são também detalhados.</p><p><strong>Abstract:</strong> The teaching of programming is gaining space in the school environment given the contributions it can offer to student development. Several movements encourage this work in schools through events such as Hora do Código. The Code.org platform is an environment used to promote these events that provides free educational games for programming learning. This paper reports the experience of the participation of students from 2nd to 5th year of Elementary School I of a public school in one of these events occurred in the State of XXXX. The positive results motivated the school to extend its activities with the Code.org platform for 1st year students and Early Childhood Education. The results of these experiments are also detailed.</p><p> </p>

In this article, an evaluation of the English early childhood education context reveals children constructed as data. The complex, chaotic and unpredictable nature of the child is reconstituted in numerical form – a form which can be measured, compared and manipulated. Children are reconceptualised as data doppelgängers, ghostly apparitions which emulate the actual embodied child. The focus of early childhood education and care thus moves from child-centred to data-centred education. The author specifically focuses on the impact of this aspect of the performative regime on children who have English as an additional language – an under-researched area in the field. Foucault’s work on governmentality is used as a theoretical lens through which to understand the process of datafication. The author uses a composite child, generated from a number of children from her experience as a teacher, as a starting point for discussion. This reveals children as disadvantaged, as their home languages are no longer used to assess communication skills. Their data doppelgängers are not useful to the teacher as they are unable to demonstrate a Good Level of Development – a key measure of school readiness in English policy. The author argues that in post-Brexit-vote Britain, subtle changes to early childhood education increase disadvantage, promoting white, British culture and thus marginalising those from other cultures.

This literature review has evaluated the effort and promise of investing in early childhood education in the context of Bangladesh in terms of policy, access, quality and impact. The findings on access showed that with improved policies and provisions from government, there has been a dramatic increase in pre-primary enrolment where along with government other private providers have come up in the early-years education space contributing significantly in terms of providing access. The review could not find consistent and disaggregated data on the access and provisions for the younger cohort of children aged 3 to 5 years old who are supposed to be under early childhood education provisions according to the ECCD policy. The review found evidences of positive correlation between quality and child learning outcomes in the context of Bangladesh, however, the criteria, definition and interpretation of ‘quality’ for ECE is yet to be studied and implemented. It is quite evident from the review that there are variation of teachers’ qualifications and lack of materials and evidences of pedagogical practices in the ECE classrooms. Along with quality, this review found impact of ECE in two areas: school readiness and primary school achievement.

Human development theories identify child-initiated play as the primary source of early learning. Accordingly, the role of early childhood educators is to utilise the natural medium of play as a context for learning; an educational approach known as play-based learning. Recently, Western Australia (WA) has experienced an erosion of play-based learning opportunities across the early childhood education (ECE) spectrum, potentially violating children’s rights. This paper presents research evidence related to this concerning issue. A self-completion, electronic questionnaire was distributed to educators through via several WA early childhood advocacy organisations. Participants (n=204) shared their perceptions about the availability of play-based learning opportunities for young children. Results identified perceived barriers and enablers to providing play-based learning in WA early childhood education settings that impact on children’s wellbeing, development and learning. Assessment of play-based learning provision differed significantly between school-based and early education and care-based educators. Participants supported the implementation of a WA Play Strategy.
