Role-Playing Game (RPG). The success of managing early childhood education institutions depends on aspects of curriculum management, infrastructure, marketing, students, supervisors, and educators. One of the most important steps in the management of educators is because this management determines how educators provide facilities to develop the skills possessed by children so that they can achieve the desired educational goals. This study aims to improve PAUD management (early childhood education) by identifying system problems. This study uses a qualitative and descriptive research model. The research sample is the Professor of the Integrated Islamic Ukhuwah PAUD Banjarmasin. The results showed that the observations, attention, communication and personality of teachers and children had been carried out well. In unprecedented times, the global community is calling for greater knowledge and engagement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to support the decision making and practices of the general community. COVID-19 has highlighted this pressing need and inviting a ‘new normal’. But STEM is not the core business of early childhood. What role can the early childhood education research community take? This paper reports on a cultural-historical study that investigated how a Conceptual PlayWorld changed the traditional Froebelian play areas to support girls’ play and motives in STEM. The question guiding that study was how could a Conceptual PlayWorld overcome the problems previously identified in the literature on girls’ inclusion in STEM activities in preschools. In our educational experiment we implemented a Conceptual PlayWorld over 12 weeks (123 hour of digital video observations), with a focus on role-playing ‘as if’ engineers and scientists (five 4-year-olds and eight 5-year-olds). The outcomes show how a Conceptual PlayWorld created new kinds of 21century learning areas. Spaces traditionally difficult for girls to enter, were transformed and afforded completely new ways of playing, shown to be inclusive of girls, and disrupted gendered interactions and divergence.

The teaching method which teachers adopt for instruction could aggravate students’ performance if successfully employed. However, its use may not be optimum as expected. This study investigated the extent of utilization of teaching methods used for teaching basic technology and the influence of gender on teachers’ extent of utilizing teaching methods to teach basic technology. The study adopted a descriptive research design. One hundred twenty-two basic technology teachers in Nigeria were purposively sampled. The findings of this study were that question and answer, discussion, inquiry, and discovery, field trip, and project and presentation teaching methods are always employed by basic technology teachers in teaching while role-playing, game, and simulation teaching method are moderately utilized for teaching. Also, there was a significant difference between male and female teachers’ extent of utilizing teaching methods to teach basic technology in favor of the male basic technology teachers. The study concluded that appropriate use of teachers’ desired teaching methods could influence instructional delivery. It was thus recommended that educational institutions should organize conferences, seminars, training, and workshops for basic technology teachers on the use of effective teaching methods.

Social investments are important for a child’s development and future success. Parental leaves and Early Childhood Education and Care services (ECEC) are among main forms of social investment, contributing to child poverty reduction and increasing equality, as well as underpinning the potential for skilled workers in the future. The aim of the paper is to analyse availability of the main forms of social investment in preschool age children - early childhood education services and parental leaves, in Vidzeme region (Latvia) for a case study. An analysis of policy documents, parents’ surveys at pre-school institutions, interviews with education institution representatives and local authorities regarding education and social matters were conducted in the research. The support system for parents is still dominated by the “passive” form of support system. However, social investment policies are becoming increasingly more important. This is achieved by supporting parents' access to social investment services and by increasing the amount of parental leave benefits. In 2013-2015 funding for child-care and family policy has increased. Expenditure growth was mostly affected by an increase in the allowance for childcare and the minimum parental allowance. The availability of ECEC is moderate, but since 2009 private institutions and since 2013 babysitting services have been co-funded at the national level till May 31, 2016 to improve it. Since September 2015 a 3-year innovative project “Vouchers for the provision of child minder services to workers with nonstandard work schedules” has been introduced too, to promote parental employment and work and family balance. In Vidzeme region, for example, service availability is additionally stimulated by free transport services, ECEC fee discounts for poor, low-income and large families, etc. Results show that the availability of ECEC has been improved and there has been signs of positive changes in children’s development. Nevertheless, the availability of ECEC is moderate, and in some poorer municipalities in Latvia Matthew effects can be spotted – the middle and highest strata of society use services to a higher extend then the low-income society.
