Kata Kunci: Kemampuan Literasi Matematis, Problem Based Instruction, PBI.  Mathematical Literacy Ability Students through Problem Based Instruction Learning ModelsAbstractThe background of this research is low mathematical literacy ability. The purpose of this research is to find out the differences in increasing students’ mathematical literacy ability between those who use the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model as an alternative solution to the problem and who use ordinary learning. A method in this research is quasi-experimental with nonequivalent group pretest-posttest design. The instruments are a mathematical literacy instrument consisting of the initial test (pretest) and the final test (posttest). The population in this study were all students at SMP Negeri 5 Cianjur in year 2018/2019 that spread into 9th grade, while the samples chosen with purposive sampling technique were two classes, namely VIII D class as the experimental class which is given Problem Based Learning (PBI) and VIII C as the control class with ordinary learning. Based on the tests of mathematical literacy abilities that have been analyzed it is found that there are differences in mathematical literacy skills students who applied the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model is were better than ordinary learning. The increase is better when compared to the increase in students with ordinary learning. Keywords: Mathematical literacy ability, Problem Based Instruction, PBI.

This research is motivated by the hope of students mastering mathematical literacy skills. Mathematical literacy can facilitate a person in understanding the usefulness of mathematics and applying it in everyday life to make the right decision. But in reality, based on the results of PISA 2018, Indonesia was decreased as a result of The Mathematical Literacy Ability Test. This study aims to determine: (1) The average literacy ability of experimental class students taught through PBL is better than the control class; (2) Class 5 student activities taught using the Problem Based Learning model, (3) Teachers can carry out learning using the Problem Based Learning learning model. This research is quantitative research with observation and documentation methods. The design used is a quasi-experimental design type Post-test only. This research uses an interval scale. The population is grade 5 students of SDN Gayungan II Surabaya. Samples were taken by cluster random sampling technique so that class 5-B (control class) and 5-A (experimental class) were obtained. Data collection techniques used were test methods analyzed with SPSS 22; observation of activities and implementation with descriptive; and documentation. The results showed that: (1) The average literacy ability of the experimental class students taught through PBL was better than the control class; (2) Student activities get very active categories; (3) The implementation of learning using the PBL model gets a Good category. Students’ ability to mathematical literacy is very important in their math learning process. Less ability of mathematical literacy as students’ way of thinking, argumentation and creating is no improvement so they face difficulties in solving math problems in their learning process related to real life. The analysis of the result from students of SMP Kristen 1 Mollo Selatan shows that they are still a low inability of mathematical literacy. The effect is questions used as exercise are common questions and not related to real life. To solve this problem, the researcher implemented Problem Based Learning (PBL) as a teaching literacy to improve students’ mathematical literacy abilities. This study will compare two classes in which one of them treated with PBL one of the other ones was not treated with PBL. A quasi-experiment quantitative method that used in this study with nonequivalent control group design. Two classes were selected as the sample by using simple random sampling. An essay test related to students’ mathematical literacy ability was used as the instrument to collect the data. The analysis technique in this study was an independent sample t-test to the result showed that the class which was treated used the PBL method was better than the class which was not treated used the PBL method. Students’ mathematical literacy ability in the PBL class was significantly proved in the high category with the score gain 0,8.

Kata Kunci: Daring, Literasi Matematika, Problem SolvingABSTRACTThis research is motivated by not optimal students’mathematical literacy. Therefore, this research aimed to improve students' mathematical literacy skills in Problem Based Learning model via online. The research was Classroom Action Research form which carried out in 2 cycles. Data collection tools are observation sheets, test sheets and questionnaires. Research subjects were PGSD students, while research object was problem-based learning modelvia online. The research showed that: (1) observation results of learning implementation in first cycle and second cycle were 3.60 in the fair category; (2) learning result with an average value in first cycle were 70.26, while in second cycle it has increased were 90.99 in a good category, with completeness were 80.63% in cycles I and II; (3) Student response were 93.86% in a very positive category. Thus, it can be concluded that Problem Based learning model viaonline can improve students' mathematical literacy skillsKeywords: Online, mathematics literacy, Problem Based Learning
