This article discusses about knowledge management and its application in smk diponegoro depok. The concept of knowledge management is the concept of resource management and information technology owned. This concept is based on resource theory (resource-based theory) and knowledge based theory. In knowledge management educational institutions are applied in the form of improvement and utilization of resources and techonology of communication and information as knowledge assets in increasing competitive advantage. knowledge management in SMK Diponegoro Depok applied in the form of improvement and utilization of knowledge of educator, communication media and information technology, and knowledge sharing. From the mini research conducted in SMK Diponegoro Depok, found the following things: (1)  Has done a enhancement and resource utilization (2) Existence implementation of knowledge management (3) Doing a breakthrough in improving the quality of educators and learners (4) Smk diponegoro able to see great opportunities from the culture of information dissemination (5) The use of communication media and information technology is less significant in SMK Diponegoro Depok.

Cleanliness is one of many other indicator that have to be held by a tourism destination. It mean that the tourism destination should be clean from garbage or any other dirty things. Indonesia is a tourism destination that have been known as a beautiful and humble country to be visited. As a tourism country, Indonesia should also give a big concern to the cleanliness issue. Various criticisms and suggestions always delivered to the manager or government of the tourist sites, but the response from them was null. There have to be a research to find out what is the root of the environment cleanliness problem and which part of the improvement that was missed. This study covers how to integrate all the stakeholder by using Information Technology in order to address the environment cleanliness issue. Existing policy established will be the basis for analyzing, designing, implementing, and evaluating a product in addressing the issues of garbage. The research is developed under the PEST and SWOT method, and using the Knowledge Management System. Visual Communication Media is a product that was built to help people in controlling the outstanding garbage. Information technology is built to become a medium in managing information related to garbage problems. Meanwhile, Counseling and Socializing is held to provide learning of the importance in maintaining hygiene. The integration of these things is monitored and evaluated to obtain a comprehensive improvement. Index Terms—Cleanliness, Information Technology, Knowledge Management System.

Information Technology (IT) is often employed to put knowledge management policies into operation. However, many of these tools require human intervention when it comes to deciding how the knowledge is to be managed. The Sematic Web may be an answer to this issue, but many Sematic Web tools are not readily available for the regular IT user. Another problem that arises is that typical efforts to apply or reuse knowledge via a search mechanism do not necessarily link to other pages that are relevant. Blogging systems appear to address some of these challenges but the browsing experience can be further enhanced by providing links to other relevant posts. In this chapter, the authors present a semantic blogging tool called SEMblog to identify, organize, and reuse knowledge based on the Sematic Web and ontologies. The SEMblog methodology brings together technologies such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), Sematic Web representations, and the ubiquity of the blogging environment to produce a more intuitive way to manage knowledge, especially in the areas of knowledge identification, organization, and reuse. Based on detailed comparisons with other similar systems, the uniqueness of SEMblog lies in its ability to automatically generate keywords and semantic links.

In today’s knowledge-based economy, sustainable strategic advantages are gained more from an organization’s knowledge assets than from its more traditional types of assets, namely, land, labor, and capital. Knowledge, however, is a compound construct, exhibiting many manifestations of the phenomenon of duality such as subjectivity and objectivity as well as having tacit and explicit forms. Overlooking this phenomenon of duality in the knowledge construct has not only led many knowledge management initiatives to stumble but has also resulted in the discussion of the apparent contradictions associated with knowledge management in the IS literature as well as numerous discussions and debates regarding the “nonsense of knowledge management.” It is the thesis of this chapter that a full appreciation of the phenomenon of duality is indeed necessary to enable inquiring organizations to reach the state of wisdom and enlightenment.

According to endogenous growth theories, human capital is a major determinant of economic growth and development. Educational institutions, in general, and universities, in particular, are most instrumental in developing and enhancing the quality of human capital through capacity building involving training, research, information dissemination, and knowledge management. The main aim of the article was to estimate select aspects of knowledge management quality evaluations in contemporary enterprises from theoretical and practical perspectives. Measuring knowledge management is the biggest challenge for both theoreticians and practitioners. The survey was addressed to organizations conducting business activity in Poland. The research was carried out in 2019 in the form of an online survey. For international organizations, the survey was intended for representatives of these companies’ local branches. It has been shown that the factors that most strongly affect the quality of knowledge are directly related to infrastructure and information technology systems (IT systems). The article contributes to managerial practice by pointing out the importance of evaluating knowledge management quality from the process perspective. The article’s originality lies in the contribution to the literature of evaluating knowledge management quality by empirically analyzing it in contemporary enterprises. The results of research in the field involving assessing the quality of knowledge management have shown the need to focus not only on information technology tools (IT tools) related to infrastructure, but also on the processes approach, taking into account the priority role of the employees.

The emergence of knowledge-based organisations has seen an emphasis shift in recognising people as the prime competitive asset and the push of management to nurture social capital within organisations. This supposedly produces an environment of openness, trust, and free communication, thereby leading to greater knowledge sharing among organisational members. A well-managed knowledge management process helps to create and sustain knowledge capture, sharing, and creation of new knowledge. This paper traces the development of a knowledge management framework in an information technology environment of an international bank, focussing on the process, derivation, and implementation of the framework and presents the important lessons learnt along the way.

This article discusses the challenges of knowledge management within intrafamily succession against the background of the knowledge-based view. As a knowledge transfer is crucial for a successful business continuation, factors that promote the interpersonal knowledge transfer are identified. Since the quality of the relationship between successor and predecessor is considered a key determinant of knowledge transfer, the role of relational competence in the knowledge transfer process is analyzed. A laboratory experiment ( N = 107) was conducted to test the derived hypotheses. In its conclusion, the article presents the empirically confirmed strong relationship between relational competence and knowledge transfer within intrafamily succession.

As the pace of todays world increases with advances in technology and globalization, the heat of rivalry and competition in the business world is also rising. It is a wake-up call for many firms that they can no longer just convince customers to buy whatever they sell. They have to understand their customers. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) can assist firms to know your customer and construct good relationships with customers. In order to know your customer and construct a good relationship, customer knowledge must be acquired and managed. However, this is no easy task since customer knowledge can be subjective and difficult to extract or manage. An approach is needed to acquire and manage customer knowledge. Knowledge management, including knowledge creation, can assist in terms of acquiring and managing customer knowledge. Knowledge management not only improves understanding of the customer, but also improves business process performance by enabling response to customer needs in a timely manner with better quality of service. Customer-Centric Knowledge Creation is the process for the creation of knowledge based on customer knowledge within the CRM contexts which are enterprise-wide, customer-centric, technology-driven, and cross-functional. The aims of this process are to assist organizations to gain more understanding of the customer, embedding customer knowledge into organization knowledge, and creating a customer-focused mindset in organizational members. In other words, it is to sustainably create knowledge focusing on customer knowledge in an organization.

As business professionals know, creating awareness of a problem and its impact is a critical first step toward the resolution of the problem. That which does not get measured, does not get managed (Redman, 1998). In fact, measurement is a precursor to improvement. This is true for knowledge management (KM) capabilities of an organization. “In today’s knowledge-based economy,” Alan Greenspan recently said, “70% of organizational assets are knowledge assets.” Knowledge assets are intangible capabilities, and there is a recognized need to “make a greater effort to quantify the value of such intangible assets” (Teece, 1998b). How does one measure the worth of an organization’s knowledge assets? What does one mean by knowledge assets anyway?
