This study focused on finding out the effect of Visual media on students’ achievement in writing procedure text. This study was conducted in experimental design. The population of this research was the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Stabat. There are 60 students of seventh grade as sample of the research. This study was conducted by using random sampling. The sample was divided into two groups, experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by using Visual media (picture), while the control group was taught by using Video. The instrument of collecting the data was a written test. To obtain the reliability of the test, the researcher used scoring rubrics. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The calculation shown that t-observed is higher than t-table (3.52 > 2.00) at the level signivicance (α) 0.05 with the degree of freedom 58 (df = N-2). It means that there was a significant effect of using Visual media on students’ achievement in writing procedure text. So, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Keywords: Visual Media, Students’ Achievement, Writing Procedure Text

This research deals with the effect of using video on students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. The population of this research was the students of VIII SMP of SMP Negeri 4 Stabat in Academic Year 2016 / 2017. This research was conducted with two randomized groups namely experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by using video and the control group was taught without using video. The researcher collected the data by giving essay test in the written test form. In order to know the reliability of the test, the researcher used inter-rater formula. The result of the reliability was 0.73. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. The analysis showed that the mean scores of the students in the experimental group was significantly higher than the mean scores of the students in the control group at the level of significant α= 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 58 with tobserved value 8.871 > ttable value 2.000. Therefore, null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The finding indicated that video significantly affected the students’ achievement in writing descriptive text.

This study aims at investigating the effect of using SWELL Method on Students’ Achievement in Writing Procedure Text. This study was conducted by experimental research. The population of this study was the students of the third grade of SMP NEGERI 2 SELESAI. The total number of the population was one hundred twenty in 4 classes. There were sixty students chosen as the sample using randomly by lottery technique. The sample was divided into two groups, namely experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by using SWELL Method and control group was taught by using Demonstration Method. The instrument for collecting the data was writing test. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the analysis shows that t-observed value is higher than t-table (2.26>2.00) at level of significance 0.05 with the degree of freedom 58. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Based on the findings of this study, it was found that there is a significant effect of SWELL Method on students’ achievement in writing procedure text.

This study was aimed at finding out The Effect of Applying POSSE (Predict-Organize-Search-Summarize-Evaluate) Strategy on the Students’ Reading Comprehension. This study used the experimental design. The population of this study was the students of SMA Negeri 2 Medan. There were sixty students taken as the sample of the research. This study was conducted with two randomized groups namely experimental and control group. The experimental group was taught by applying POSSE strategy while control group was taught without applying POSSE strategy. The instrument of collecting the data was multiple choice test which consists of 40 items. To obtain the reliability of the test, the researcher used Kuder-Richardson (KR-21). The calculation shows the reliability was 0.81(high). The data were analyzed by using t-test. The calculation shows that t-observed (4.76) is higher than t-table (2.00) at the level of significance (α) 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 58. Therefore, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means that there was a significant effect of applying POSSE strategy on the students’ reading comprehension. Keywords: POSSE Strategy, Reading Comprehension.

This research was done due to the lack of students' reading ability in descriptive text in MTsS Yati Kamang. This research was classified as a quasi-experimental research. To experiment class the researcher choose VII.II class and VII.I is experiment class. The researcher uses test to measure students’ reading ability. Afterwards, the researcher proved that the Comic strip as a media was able to increase students' reading ability in descriptive text. Experiment class and control class there are 38 students. There were 19 students as the respondents in experimental group and 19 students as the respondents in control group. The experimental class was taught by using Comic strips as media in teaching and the control group was taught only by using Picture. The result of paired sample t-test showed that the tobtained (6,591) was higher than ttable(2,326) with the level significant 0,01. The null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. It means there is a significant effect of using Comic strips toward students’ reading ability in descriptive text at the seventh grade of MTsS Yati Kamang.

The purpose of this paper is to report the effect of Shadowing Technique on students’ listening skills achievement. Therefore, the experimental research was applied and the technique on collecting the data was administrating pre- and post- tests to the experiment and control groups, which consisted of 40 students in each group. Then, t-test was employed on analyzing the data. As a result, there was a significant difference between the mean of experimental and control groups (F = 8.92, p=. 003 < .05). Therefore, there was a significant effect of applying shadowing technique on students’ listening skill achievements and the experimental group outperformed the control group. To sum up, the alternative hypothesis was accepted and the null hypothesis was rejected.

This study is aimed at finding out the effect of Engage, Study, Activate technique on students’ achievement in writing narrative text. This research applied experimental design. The instrument used to collect the data was a written test. The population was the 2015/2016 second year students (grade VIII) of SMP N 1 Sei Rampah. There were nine paralel classes that consisted of 30 students. The total number of the population were 270 students. The total number of the sample were 60 students. The researcher selected the sample by choosing only 2 classes  by using sampling technique. The sample was divided into two groups, experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by applying Engage, Study, Activate technique while the control group was taught without applying Engage, Study, Activate technique. The data were taken by administering the pre-test and post-test to both control and experimental groups. These data were analyzed by using t-test. The result of computing the t-test obviously showed that t-observed (4.383) is higher than t-table (1.671) with the degree of freedom (df= 58) at the level significance 0.05 one tail test. It means that alternative hypothesis stating that there is a significant effect of Engage, Study, Activate technique on students’ achievement in writing narrative text is accepted. ABSTRACT This study is conducted as an attempt to find out the effect of applying SAVI approach on Students’ speaking Achievement in oral descriptive text. This study used the experimental design. The population of this study is the students of SMA Yayasan Pendidikan Harapan Bangsa . The sample of this study was the 2018/2019eleventh grade students of SMA Yayasan Pendidikan Harapan Bangsa . This study is conducted with two randomized groups namely experimental group and control group. The control group is taught by conventional method while experimental group is taught by applying SAVI Approach. The instrument used in this study was an oral test. To obtain the reliability of the test, the researcher used t-test formula.. The data were analyzed by using t-test. The calculation shows that t-observed (2.50) is higher than t-table (1.666) at the level of significance (α) 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 74. Therefore, null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means that SAVI approach significantly affect the students’ speaking achievement in oral descriptive text.
