The aim of this study is to discover the effect of applying SQ3R method inreading comprehension. Experimental research design is used as the research method. This research took place at SMA Nasrani 2Medan. There were 2 classes chosen as thesample with 30 students in each class. The classes were divided into two groups namelyexperimental and control group. The experimental group was taught by using SQ3Rmethod and the control group was taught by using conventional method. The instrumentused to collect the data was a set of multiple choice tests, which divided as pre test andpost test. The result of the research was analyzed by using t-test formula. The resultshowed that t-test was higher than t-table (4,23>2,00) at the level of significant 0,05with degree of freedom (df) 58. It means that hypothesis alternative (Ha) is acceptedwhich shows that SQ3R method significantly improves the student’s readingcomprehension.

The objective of this study was to investigate whether Numbered Heads Together Technique significantly affected on students’ achievement in reading recount text. This study was an experimental research design. The population of this study was grade X students of SMA Swasta Teladan Medan with the total number of students was 60 as samples and all of the students was taken by using random sampling. The students were divided into two groups, namely experimental and control group. The experimental group was taught by using Numbered Heads Together Technique, while the control group was taught by using Lecturing Method. The instrument of collecting data was multiple choice tests which then divided into pre-test and post-test. To obtain the result of the reliability of the test, the researcher used the Kuder Richardson formula (KR-21). The result of the calculation showed that the reliability of the test was 0.64, which means that the reliability of the test is high. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the analysis showed that tvalue is higher than ttable (5.50 > 2.00) at the level of significance 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 58. It means that there is a significant effect of using Numbered Heads Together Technique on the students’ achievement in reading recount text.   Keyword: Numbered Heads Together Technique, Reading Achievement.

The objectives of the research were to find out the significant effect of Using Scrabble Media which was focused on vocabulary Achievement. The research design in this research was quantitative experimental research. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 24 Medan in academic years 2017/2018. The population of this research was in the seventh grade students which consisted of eight classes namely: Class VII-A, VII-B, VII-C, VII-D, VII-E, VII-F, VII-G and VII-H. The total numbers of population were 288 students. The research classes were divided into two classes, Experimental Class (36 students) and Control Class (36 students). The technique used was purposive sampling to determine the experimental and control group. The sample were divided into two groups, the first group VII-H which consisted of 36 students was Experimental group which was given treatment by Using Scrabble Media and second group VII-F which consisted of 36 students was Control group which was given treatment by using Conventional Method. Each group was given a pre-test, treatment and post-test. The t-test was 15,71 and the t-table was 1.68 and 0.05 was as the significant level of this research. Because the t-test value was higher than t-table (15,71 > 1.68). It showed that the result in t-test was accepted (Ha). Based on the result of this research, it could be concluded that there was significant effect of Using Scrabble Media on the Students’ Achievement in vocabulary

The study is focused on finding out the effect of applying Metacognition Strategy on students’ reading comprehension in reading descriptive text. This study conducted on experimental quantitative design. The population of the research was the Pharmacy students at Institut Deli Husada Deli Tua. There are three hundred forty six students at pharmacy to be the sample of the research. This study was conducted by two randomized groups named Experimental Group and Control Group. The Experimental Group was taught by using Metacognition Strategy but in Control Group didn’t be taught by using Metacogniton Strategy. The instrument of collecting the data was multiple choice tests which consisted of 25 questions. The research Obtain the reliability of the test by using Kuder-Richardson (KR-21) formula. The calculation shown the reliability was 0.57 (Moderate). The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. At the level of significance 0.05 with the deegree of freedom (df) 58, t-observed is 4.1 while t-table is 1.67. Then F-value is 1.41 and F-table is 1.84. It means that there was significant effect of applying Metacogniton strategy on students’ Reading Comprehension in reading descriptive text. So, the conclusion is the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is totally accepted.

This study is an attempt to discover the effect of applying Group Investigation Method on students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. It was conducted by using experimental research design. The Population of this research was the tenth (X) grade students of SMAN 11 Medan which consists of nine parallel classes with the total number of students is 286. The samples of this research were taken by random sampling through lottery technique. The result was class X IPA 1 consisted of 33 students became the experimental group and class X IPA 3 consisted of 31 students became the control group. The experimental group was taught by using Group Investigation Method while the control group was taught by using Conventional Method. The instrument for collecting the data was writing test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result shows that the value of t-observed (3.733) is higher than the value of t-table (2.000) (α = 0.05) with the degree of freedom (df) = 62. It means that there is a significant effect of applying Group investigation Method on students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. So, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

The aim of this study is to discover the effect of applying Teams “K-W-L” strategy in reading descriptive text. Experimental research design is used as the research method. This research took place at SMP N 1 SIANTAR NARUMONDA. There were 2 classes chosen as the sample with 30 students in each class. The classes were divided into two groups namely experimental and control group. The experimental group was taught by using Teams “K-W-L” strategy and control group was taught by using conventional method. The instrument was used to collect the data was a set of multiple choice tests, which was divided as pre-test and post-test. The result showed that t-test was higher than t-table (4,53 > 2,00) at the level of significant 0,05 with degree of freedom (df) 58. It means that hypothesis alternative (Ha) is accepted which show that Teams “K-W-L” strategy significantly effected on the students achievement in reading descriptive text. It was proved since mean score of experimental group is 74,83 higher than mean score of control group is 63,33.
