IMPROVING THE STUDENTS ACHIEVEMENT IN SPEAKING THROUGH TEAMS-GAMES-TOURNAMENT TECHNIQUE

The objective of this study was to investigate whether the application of Teams-Games-Tournament Technique improve the students achievement in Speaking. This study was an classroom action research. The subject of this study was class XI IPA 3 SMA Muhammadiyah 8 Kisaran which consists of 35 students. The study was conducted in two cycles, cycle I consisted of three meetings and cycle II was consisted of three meetings. The instruments for collecting data were quantitative (oral speaking test) and qualitative data (observation sheet and diary note). Based on speaking scores, students’ score kept improving in every evaluation and based on observation sheet and diary note, it was found that teaching and learning process ran well. Students could enlarge their thinking process. The result of this study showed that Teams-Games-Tournament improved students’ achievement in speaking.

The objective of this study was to investigate whether the application of Taba model improve the students’ achievement in Reading Comprehension. This study was an classroom action research. The subject of this study was class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Bandar which consisted of 32 students. The study was conducted in two cycles, cycle I consisted of three meetings and cycle II consisted of three meetings. The instruments for collecting data were quantitative data (reading comprehension test) and qualitative data (observation sheert, and questionnaire sheet). Based on reading comprehension scores, students’ score kept improving in every evaluation and based on the observation sheet, and questionnaire sheet it was found that teaching and learning process ran well. Students could enlarge their thinking process. The result of this study showed that the Taba Model improved the students’ achievement in reading comprehension.   Keyword: reading comprehension, taba model, classroom action research.

This study deals with the way to improve students’ achievement in speaking particularly through Two Stay Two Stray Strategy. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of of the research was class X-AP SMK Swasta Harapan Danau Sijabut in Asahan Regency that consisted of 34 students. The research was conducted in two cycles consisted of three meetings in each cycle. The instruments of collecting data for quantitative data used Speaking Test and instrument for analysis of qualitative data used observation, interview and questionnaire sheet. Based on the speaking test score, students’ score kept improving in every test. In the test I the mean was 61,47, in the test II the mean was 67,41 and the test III the mean was 78,52. Based on observation sheet and questionnaire sheet, it was found that teaching learning process run well and lively. Students were active and interest in speaking. The using of Two Stay Two Stray Strategy is significantly improved students’ achievement in speaking.

This study attempts to increase students’ vocabulary achievement by using flash cards. The objective of the study is to investigate whether the using of flash card can improve students’ vocabulary achievement. This study conduct by applying Classroom Action Research which was carried out in two cycles in six meetings. The subject of this study of SD Negeri 174559 Siraituruk, Porsea which consisted of 34 students. For collecting data, the instruments used were quantitative (vocabulary test) and qualitative data (interview sheet, observation sheet, and diary notes. Based on the data, it was found that the mean of the second cycle (80, 44) is higher than the mean of first cycle (64, 85) and pre-test (44, 41).  Based on interview sheet, observation sheet and diary notes, it was found thee students were more active and more enthusiastic during the teaching learning process in the second cycle than the first one. It was concluded that teaching vocabulary by using  flash cards can improve the students’ vocabulary achievement.

This study attempts to improve students’ vocabulary achievement through Clustering Technique. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class VIII-B SMP Katolik Trisakti 2 Medan that consisted of 32 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meetings. The instruments for collecting data were vocabulary tests for quantitative data and diary notes, observation sheet and questionnaire sheet for qualitative data. Students’ score kept improving in every test. In the first cycle test, the mean of vocabulary score was 64.68. And in the second cycle test, the mean of vocabulary score was 79.85. Based on diary notes, observation sheet and questionnaire sheet, teaching and learning process had done effectively showed the improvement. Every student was studied actively. And from the research can be concluded that Clustering Technique can improve students’ achievement in vocabulary.

This study focused to improve Students’ Vocabulary Achievement by Applying Anagram PlusFlashcards. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of thisstudy was students in class VII-7 of SMP Negeri 7 Pematangsiantar. There were 32 studentstaken as the subject. The instrument for collecting data were the test for vocabulary and diarynotes, questionnaire sheets, observation sheet, and interview for process of teaching andlearning vocabulary. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. The result of the researchshowed that the mean of students’ score in pre-test was 56.41, the mean of students’ score inpost-test I was 69.22. The mean of students’ score in post-test II was 76.72. There wereimprovement of students’ achievement from 56.41-76.72 about 20.31 point and that score(76.72) was excelled the indicator (75). Based on diary notes, questionnaire sheets,observation sheet, and interview, it found that teaching and learning process ran well.Students were active, cooperative, enthusiastic and interested in learning vocabulary.There were 16 students (50%) agreed that the students active in learning process, 20students (62.5%) were interested, 20 students (62.5%) were enthusiastic and 19 students(59.37%) were agreed that strategy of learning was effective. It can be concluded that theapplication of anagram plus flashcards had successfully improved the students’ vocabularyachievement at the SMP Negeri 7 Pematangsiantar.

This research aimed to explain the improvement of students’ vocabulary of the noun (abstract noun and concrete noun), Verb (regular verb and irregular verb) and adjective (Descriptive adjective).The method of this research was classroom action research consisted of two cycles. One cycle consists of four meeting. Thus there were eight meetings for two cycles. This classroom action research was done at the second year of SMA Negeri 1 Enrekang. As the subject of this research was class XI in 2011/2012 academic year with students’ number about 31 students. These consist of 23 women and 8 men. The instruments of this research were observation sheet and vocabulary test or evaluation. The findings of the research were the students’ score in vocabulary mastery through the bilingual magazine. Before applying this media in teaching and learning vocabulary, the students’ mean score in D-test was 4.6 (poor). After applying bilingual magazine as a media of teaching and learning process, in cycle I the students’ mean score improved to 5.35(fair) and then in cycle II also improved to 7.20 (fairly good).

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan teknik dasar lempar cakram dalam proses belajar mengajar dengan mengunakan media modifikasi pada siswa kelas V B SD Negeri 18 Kota Bengkulu. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (classroom action research). Subjek penelitian siswa kelas V B SD Negeri 18 Kota Bengkulu yang berjumlah 25 siswa. Hasil pra siklus dalam proses belajar mengajar teknik dasar lempar cakram secara keseluruhan terdapat  20% tuntas belajar dan 80% belum tuntas belajar. Dan hasil penelitian pada siklus kesatu menunjukan bahwa jumlah indikator pada lembar observasi aktivitas guru dalam pembelajaran masih terlaksana 18 item atau baru mendapat presentase (72%), dan pada lembar observasi aktivitas belajar siswa pada pembelajaran masih terlaksana 13 item atau baru mendapat presentase (52%) dari jumlah keseluruhan lembar observasi yaitu 25 item. Ini menunjukan bahwa proses belajar mengajar baik guru maupun siswa masih rendah atau masih pada kategori belum tuntas belajar. Sedangkan hasil disiklus ke dua menunjukan bahwa jumlah indikator yang guru lakukan pada proses belajar mengajar meningkat yaitu 22 item atau mendapat presentase (88%). Begitu juga dengan jumlah indikator yang siswa ikuti pada proses belajar mengajar disiklus ke dua meningkat menjadi  20 item atau mendapat presentase (80%). Ini menunjukan bahwa tindakan yang dilakukan disiklus kedua baik guru maupun siswa dapat dikatakan telah tuntas belajar. Berdasarkan hasil diatas maka disimpulkan bahwa dengan mengunakan media modifikasi dapat meningkatkan proses belajar mengajar teknik dasar lempar cakram. Kata kunci : teknik dasar lempar cakram, proses belajar mengajar menggunakan media modifikasi.AbstractThis research aims to improve the basic technique of the disc throwing in the learning process by using a modified media on students grade 5th Elementary School Number 18 Bengkulu City.  The type of this research is classroom action research. The subject of this research is student grade 5th Elementary School Number 18 Bengkulu City which have 25 students inside. The result of pre-cycle in the class shows, the technique of disc throwing, overall there is 20 percent of the total students has been thoroughly studied and 80 percent of students hasnot been thoroughly studied. The results of this research, on first cycle show that just 18 items of all the items in observation sheet or 72 percents which teacher do on class, and just 13 items of all the items in student observation sheet or 52 percents which students do on class. It shows the class on category has not been thoroughly studied. While on second cycle show the total indicator which teacher do going into 22 items or 88 percent. The students also do better cause  on second cycle total indicator which students do going into 20 items or 80 percent. It show that activity which  do in the second cycle satisfaction. Based on result above, we can take conclusion modified media can increase teaching and learning process on class especially on disc throwing matery. This study attempted to improve students’ achievement in vocabulary by using Realia. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class VII-1 at SMP.N.17 Medan which consisted of 38 students. The research was conducted in two cycles, cycle I consisted of three meetings and cycle II consisted of three meetings. The instrument for collecting quantitative data was a vocabulary test and the instruments for collecting qualitative data included diary notes, observation sheets, questionnaire sheets, and interview. Based on the vocabulary test, students’ score kept improving in every test and based on the diary notes, observation sheets, questionnaire sheets, and interview report, it was found that the teaching-learning process ran well. Students were active, enthusiastic, and interested in vocabulary. The result of the research showed that Realia significantly improved students’ achievement in vocabulary. The objective of this study is to find out whether Brainstorming Technique can improve students’ Achievement in speaking. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of this research was the second year students of SMA Swasta Katolik Budi Murni 3 Medan. The research was conducted in two cycles. The first cycle was three meetings and the second cycle was two meetings. The instruments for collecting data used speaking test for quantitative data and used diary notes, questionnaires sheet, interview and observation sheet for qualitative data. Based on the speaking test result, the students’ score kept improving in every test. In orientation test, the mean score was 47,8. In the test of cycle 1 the mean score was 59,2 and the mean score in the test of cycle 2 was 70,1. In line with the data, it was found that the Brainstorming technique can improve students’ speaking achievement.

<p>         Learning process is the logical essence of college education in affectingthe quality of output. Infact, the implementation of teaching and learning process in the classroom are faced on the problems that hinder the succes of the learning process. The troubling problem that occurs is the student low participation, which tends to just sit down, be quiet, and just listen without giving a response that is relevant to the learning process takes place.</p><p>        The implementation Group Investigation of cooperative learning model wasdifficult to reach expectations. Researchers tried to use opinion form to solve the low of students participation on the discussion process of teaching and learning in STKIP PGRI Trenggalek.</p><p>        The design of this research is classroom action research (Kemmis and Taggart design) that consist of three cycles, using constructivist approach with qualitative data. Data were collected by the method of observation, interviews and giving assignment. Then, it is analyzed descriptively (datareduction, datapresentation, and inference).</p>         The results of data analysis showed that the use of opinion form can improve students’ participation in cooperative learning on the subject of <em>Belajar Pembelajaran</em>, students are able to changetheir habits that tend to be passive to be students who has a willing to study hard and aware how to pose themselves and take part actively especially in delivering question, giving opinion and responsible to their duties of becoming students. The use of opinion form facilitate lecturerto motivate students to actively participate in the learning process because they are not only get an invitation and verbal motivation but also acts directly on the work.
