The creation of a new Federal Government Administrative Centre at Putrajaya marks a new chapter in the development history of modern Malaysia. The development of this new administrative centre was prompted by the need to balance and disperse development to areas outside of Klang Valley. It is a decision motivated by the government's desire to improve the urban environment and quality of life, and to ease the pressure on the infrastructure in Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley in general. In city planning terms, it provides a golden opportunity and a challenge to embark on something new and innovative representing Malaysian values and culture. Putrajaya the new Federal Government Administrative Centre, is to be equipped with the latest facilities and technologies for improved effectiveness and productivity, as well as, amenities that shall contribute to quality living and working environment. However the challenge also lies in fostering the spirit, sense of purpose and identity for the new city. This paper provides an insight to some of the basic principles and concepts behind the endeavor towards realizing this planning vision.

This paper presents some of the important lindings on the atmopsheric fine FP (particle with aerodynamic diameter, da 2.5um) and coarse particles, CP (2.5 um da 10 um) concentrations collected from July 1988 to December 1990 using a dichotomous sampler sited at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Results showed that the mean FP and CP particle concentration was 35.4 and 14.2 μg/m3, respectively, with 40% of the daily total particle, TP(i.e TP = FP + CP) concentration samples exceeded the 50 μg/m3 annual mean guideline limit. On average, the FP constitutes 71% of the TP concentration measured at the site. Elevated particle concentrations were observed to be consistent with the frequency of calm conditions and wind direction which uggests that both there the important factors influencing the quality of air in the area. Physical inactivity is one of the major public health problems worldwide. Community-based interventions have been pointed out as a promising strategy to increase physical activity (PA) levels and impact population health. Recreovía is a community program with a potential to promote PA. There is growing evidence for two benefits derived from the practice of PA: an increased perception of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and life satisfaction (LS). The purpose of this study was to assess differences between leisure-time PA and perceptions of both HRQoL and LS, as well as to assess differences between perceptions of both HRQoL and LS for Recreovía and non-Recreovía participants. Data were obtained using the baseline cross-sectional survey of 1533 participants (501 belonged to the intervention group) as part of the natural experiment Al Ritmo de las Comunidades. HRQoL was measured with the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer 30-item questionnaire, LS was measured with Questions on Life Satisfaction Scale, and self-reported minutes of leisure-time PA were measured with the long version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. The mean age of participants was 41.7 years (standard deviation (SD) = 16.3). The participants had a good overall HRQoL and LS. The mean minutes of leisure-time PA were 158.1 min (SD = 230.2) a week. Results showed that those participants who reported higher leisure-time PA levels also reported a significantly higher LS (M = 41.9, SD = 35.0) relative to participants with lower levels (M = 37.6, SD = 34.2, t(1532) = −2.36, p < 0.01). There were no statistical differences in the perception of HRQoL and leisure-time PA ( t(1532) = −1.03, p = 0.30), although active people had higher scores. Both HRQoL and LS scores were higher in individuals who were participating in Recreovía ( p < 0.001). Higher LS scores were found in the group with higher leisure-time PA, while HRQoL showed no differences. Better psychological well-being indices were found in the Recreovía group.

Quality of life (QoL) is an awareness of an individual in their situation in life in the context of the culture and value systems in which they live and in relation to their goals, expectations, standards, and concerns. Caregivers of children with disabilities seem to display a higher burden and impaired Quality of Life (QOL). Evaluating QOL and sources of stress among caregivers of children with disabilities is an essential for interventions focused on rehabilitation. An 82 caregivers of persons with a disability registered under Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Centres based in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor were selected for the study. Self- administered questionnaires by using WHOQOL-BREF was used to assess the quality of life of caregivers. The mean age of the caregivers was found to be 42.45 years, with 47 (57.3%) females and 35 (42.7%) males. The mean Quality of Life of these caregivers was 74.60. The physical domain was significantly associated with education, income, occupation, and age; the psychological domain was associated with education, race, income, and age, while the environmental domain was associated with relation to caregiver education, race, income, age, and occupation. Social domain was the most affected; marital status (p-value=0.01), education (p-value=0.01), race, race (p-value=0.03), relationship with the children (p-value=0.01), income (p-value=0.01) and occupation (p-value=0.03). Income was observed to affect all the domains, and caring for the disabilities' children with health problems were the major sources of stress to the caregivers. Quality of Life among the caregivers was obviously influenced by various factors that necessity to be addressed.  Specific supports and interventions should be highlighted to benefit the caregivers to ensure the betterment of care for children with disabilities.

BACKGROUND: Recently, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, customer sentiment has evolved as the new “normal” for food consumption—as it affects customer behavioral change, including the way customers eat. Therefore, understanding customer demands and needs will help food delivery aggregators and retailers produce sustainable, competitive advantage and drive profitability. OBJECTIVE: This paper aims to investigate the determinant factors of Thai consumers’ intention to use on-demand food delivery applications. METHODS: Convenient random sampling was used to gather data from 250 participants who have used food delivery applications in Thailand and Amos version 23 to test model validity and the hypotheses. RESULTS: The results show that satisfaction is critical for the intention to use food delivery applications. Social influence, trust, convenience, and application quality were found to play an essential role in meeting the needs of satisfaction toward the intention to use, and application quality is the most important. However, habit showed a negative relationship, and price value was found to have a nonsignificant impact on satisfaction. CONCLUSIONS: Food delivery aggregators should ensure the quality of application updates and efficiency and that users have the best quality experience to maintain customer satisfaction. However, customers are also concerned about their health and safety, which has altered their purchasing behavior. Therefore, restaurant players should add a third delivery system that optimize online ordering and delivery.

Caring for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) negatively impacts quality of life (QoL). This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the factors associated with perceived QoL and how problematic a child’s autism-specific difficulties are among the main caregivers of children with ASD who attend specialized preschool programs at the National Autism Society of Malaysia and IDEAS Autism Centre located in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. Utilizing the questions from Parts A and B of the Quality of Life in Autism Questionnaire (QoLA), the data from 116 responders were analyzed using univariate and multivariate linear regression. The mean scores of Part A and Part B were 88.55 ± 17.25 and 56.55 ± 12.35, respectively. The QoL was significantly associated with staying in an apartment/flat −11.37 (95%CI: −19.52, −1.17, p = 0.008), main caregivers attending two training sessions 10.35 (95%CI: 1.17, 19.52, p = 0.028), and more than three training sessions 13.36 (95%CI: 2.01, 24.70, p = 0.022). Main caregiver perceptions of their child’s autistic-specific difficulties were significantly associated with not receiving additional help for childcare: no maid −13.54 (95%CI: −24.17, −12.91, p = 0.013); no grandparent −8.65 (95%: −14.33, −2.96, p = 0.003); and main caregivers not having asthma 8.44 (95%CI: 0.02, 16.86, p = 0.049). These identified factors can be considered to inform main caregivers and health care providers on targeted ways to improve the QoL of main caregivers.

The recent air pollution trend, as well as the factors that contribute to the air quality, were reviewed in the Klang Valley since it has undergone rapid development over the years. The overall quality of air in the Klang Valley was moderate for 66% of the days throughout the year of 2009 while only 5% of the days were classified at the unhealthy level. Shah Alam and Kuala Lumpur were among the cities that recorded the highest number of unhealthy days from 2001-2009. Furthermore, places around the Klang Valley suffered from quite severe acidified rain, which indicates that heavy air pollution is still occurringin areas around the Lang Valley. Factors like urbanization, industry, motor vehicles and forest fires remain the main contributors to the deterioration of air quality in the Klang Valley. Hence, a more sustainable policy has to be introduced by the government in order to tackle the air pollution issue.
