SummaryPhu Quoc island of Kien Giang Province in Vietnam is endowed with resources for tourism development. The study explored the human resources, tourism marketing and promotion efforts of businesses towards the sustainable tourism development in Phu Quoc tourism. The authors used secondary and primary data to elicit information from respondents. Secondary data was collected from Kien Giang department of tourism, Statistical departments of Kien Giang and Phu Quoc. We administered questionnaires to 230 local residents, 150 businesses, and 530 tourists. Furthermore, interviews were conducted in Phu Quoc with local residents, businesses, tourists, local authorities’ officers, and 12 experts. The results suggest that Phu Quoc tourism sector lack quality workforce and marketing and promotion initiative is not well developed. The study proposes recommendations to stakeholders of Phu Quoc tourism sectors and more of that, the limitation and further research is suggested.

The tourism industry is widely acknowledged as the crucial influencer to the rapid and significant development of the current world and becomes one of the largest and fastest growing economic sectors in the world. Vietnam - a developing country and Phu Quoc island of Kien Giang Province in Vietnam own the great potentials and invaluable resources for tourism development. Nonetheless, Phu Quoc tourism has been also encountering difficulties and facing with several hidden drawbacks by its rapidly fast growth. The general objective of this study is to develop the strategies for tourism development towards sustainable tourism development. The triangulation research method is employed which consists of the secondary and primary data. Secondary data relies on vast sources. Primary data is the results of the surveys by questionnaires with 230 local residents, 150 businesses, and 530 tourists. Furthermore, primary data gains from the semi-structured and in-depth interviews conducted in Phu Quoc with local residents, businesses, tourists, local authorities’ officers, and especially with 12 experts. All of the surveyed data was processed with SWOT and IPA analyses. The results of the study will be useful sources for the Phu Quoc tourism development practice.

Carrying Capacity is an important consideration in sustainable tourism development. One of the developing tourist destination in Bali island is Geger Beach which is located in Badung regency, Bali.  Geger beach has different conditions with other beaches, therefore it is necessary to determine the estimation area and duration for tourist activities without degrading the quality of the environment. This study aimed to determine the unit of the area, the required time, and the total time per day for  particular tourist category according to the condition at Geger beach. Moreover, this study investigated the condition of carrying capacity in the Geger beach. The data were collected primary data obtained by interviewed 100 respondents in Geger Beach and based on literature study on the secondary data. Results showed that the average area for tourism activities (Lt) is 41.5 m2 and the duration for tourism activities (Wp) is 2.29 hours/day. The total time that area provided for tourism activities is 10 hours/day and the total area is 5.023 m2. Carrying capacity value at Geger beach uses Lt and Wp value is 529 people/day, 16.385 people/month or 196.620 people/year. The carrying capacity of Geger Beach conditions is suggested remain under carrying capacity for the entire month and the total visits during 2016.

This research explores the inter connectedness in entrepreneurs’ and tourists’ perception about western influence in business culture of touristic city – Pokhara, Nepal and provides suggestions for fostering sustainable tourism development of the destination. Primary data results are drawn in which researchers have collected 249 data from tourists’ viewpoint, 395 from determining provincial government roles and 395 from hospitality entrepreneurship along with key informants interview with experts’ viewpoints for generating practical solutions of the existing problems in order to enhance hospitality and tourism business for progress and sustainability. Based on this triangular data results and secondary resources’ analysis, this research concludes that, for the sustainable tourism business in Pokhara, the entrepreneurs in the area should recognize, preserve, promote and sustain local socio-cultural practices; tourists’ viewpoints should be addressed and Gandaki provincial government roles must be constructive.

The chapter describes how sustainable tourism marketing strategy can bring competitive advantage to a destination. It defines tourism destinations; characterizes the principles of sustainable tourism development and its role in competitiveness of the destination. The chapter also shows a destination´ best practice in the implementation of sustainable tourism marketing strategy. The destination was subject to research using onsite and internet surveys, semi-structured and informal interview and the results were subjected to evaluation using the VRIO model.

The concept of overtourism has been popularly discussed in recent years, upon local residents starting to recognize the tourism disturbances in some high-profile destinations. For a sustainable tourism development, it is crucial to investigate potential impacts of overtourism towards the local residents living in the destination. Thus, this chapter employs the existing academic work on quality of life (QoL) concepts, to examine the correlations between residents' perception of tourism's impact to them in material, community, emotional, and health & safety life domains, and their satisfaction with QoL in corresponding life domains, and their overall life satisfaction. This chapter involves a survey taken place in Macau, which represents a case of plausible overtourism. The research reveals that residents who perceived more negative impact from tourism on QoL, were more unsatisfied with QoL. Thus, tourism planners and policy makers should be aware of such threat on sustainable tourism development and search out a solution balancing different stakeholders in overtourism destinations.

Issues of effective teaching and learning in tourism education by Toney K. Thomas reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of the application of skills in the industry. Joby Thomas and P. Tourism sector has been considered as the crucial sectors of many different countries of the world. And sustainable tourism brings enormous scope as a rapid growing economic sector on the basis of foreign exchange earnings and generation of employment opportunity and thereby elevating poverty from the country. The central aim of this study is to investigate the role of sustainable tourism in alleviating poverty from developing countries, especially the northern part of Bangladesh.  For this purpose, the different tourism sites have been selected that are situated in Rajshahi region like Padma Garden, Varendra Museum and Shaheed Kamruzzaman Zoo. Rajshahi, the major tourist destination region in Bangladesh which is very beautiful and flourished that has a great chance to contribute country’s infrastructure and economic development. This study conducts a survey on 200 respondents in three different places of Rajshahi through the structured questionnaires, observation, interview and literature review. An exploratory research method was employed because the nature of the study was descriptive due to the fact that most of the respondents were illiterate or semi   illiterate. Besides IBM SPSS Statistics 20 is being used to analyze the data. Through the factor analysis and other measurements tools this study expatiates the social, cultural, economic, environmental and other factors which touching the sustainability of Rajshahi and also provide recommendations about the required steps that needs to be taken into account to palliate and to manage the drawbacks of tourism to make Rajshahi as a sustainable tourism destination. Besides it reveals the relationship between tourism development and poverty alleviation in Bangladesh. The study also suggested few ways by which existing tourism can be promoted and well developed in Bangladesh thereby ensuring sustainable tourism development (STD) and economic growth.

Mountains, Wilderness, Sea, Beach, River and Cultural Art or often known as GURILAPSS are the characteristics of tourism in Sukabumi Regency, so when speaking GURILAPSS, Sukabumi is the destination. The formulation of the problem in this research is “How is Sukabumi Tagline?”. This study aims to determine the device to determine the tourism development of Sukabumi District throught the GURILAPSS Pesona Sukabumi Tagline.This study uses a centralized interview approach (Focused Interviews), with research. This research data collection technique uses two data sources, namely primary and secondary sources. Primary data obtained by interview and observation. Secondary data obtained by documentation. The key Informant in this study was the Head of tourism marketing and promotion in Sukabumi Regency. While supporting informant s consisted of one Head of Culture and one Head of Culture and six people of Sukabumi Regency.Technical analysis of data in this study using the model of Miles and Huberman. The results showed that the Tourism Development of Sukabumi Regency through the tagline GURILAPSS the result showed the Development of tourism in Sukabumi Regency through the tagline GURILAPSS the charm of Sukabumi uses three basic elements in its development, namely the emergence of motivation and desire for tourists to visit a tourism through the development of attractions and tourist attractions; there are supporting tourism facilities such as roads, accomodation, information centers and shopping centers through amenitas and tourist accommodation and transportation to take to tourist attraction. The conclusion in this study Sukabumi Regency tourism development through the tagline GURILAPSS enchanment Sukabumi has used aspect of the development of attractions and tourist attractions; tourist amenities and accomodations as well as tourist accesbility.Keywords: GURILAPSS Enchanting Sukabumi,  Tourism Development; Tagline.

Amungme Tribe, residing in Mimika Regency, has important roles in developing the Papua Province’s tourism sector. Up to now, this tribe has experienced various obstacles in developing its community and region. Authors conducted a qualitative-based method research to find strategies to elevate this tribe to have competitive advantages to increase its prosperity. In this research, surveys and in-depth interviews with relevant stakeholders were conducted in Timika City to generate effective strategies. Authors have designed a comprehensive approach, namely Amungme-Based Sustainable Tourism (ABST), which focuses on the development of 4Rs: Revitalization, Reconstruction, Remuneration, and Reconciliation. Through effective and efficient applications of 4Rs, it is expected that there will be great changes for Amungme Tribe and the community of Mimika Regency.

The tourism sector in Albania has been upheld as a government development priority and a promising window for overall local economic development. Although these ambitions have started to shape the governance of the sector, the inherent challenges on a governance level have meant that most of the tourism development on a local level is being led by local initiatives and the private sector service providers. These initiatives are often fueled by entrepreneurial drive and are sustained by a network of local community actors, giving rise to applied models of sustainable tourism development, as shown by numerous agritourist enterprises emerging across Albania. Through a case study approach, this chapter will focus on the role entrepreneurial eco-systems rooted in local communities can play in the development of sustainable tourism models in Albania.
