AbstractOne of the great challenges in higher education is to achieve a quality standard in the academic writings of its students. The dynamics of reading and writing at this level involves the development of new skills associated with reading comprehension of a large volume of information, critical analysis and academic style. In Mexico, especially, universities and teachers are aware of the lack of these abilities and the difficulties faced by their students to produce academic essays: however, only very few proposals exist to address this problem. Therefore, the educational intervention conducted sought a solution to improve the quality of academic writings in graduate students. This has been achieved through the implementation of a manual and seminar, which helped students in the acquisition of new learning techniques. As a result, students also improved their reading and writing skills, gained confidence and a greater understanding of the academic style. Recibido: 21 de febrero de 2015Aceptado: 10 de noviembre de 2015

Software systems are any software product or applications that support business domains such as Manufacturing,Aviation, Health care, insurance and so on.Software quality is a means of measuring how software is designed and how well the software conforms to that design. Some of the variables that we are looking for software quality are Correctness, Product quality, Scalability, Completeness and Absence of bugs, However the quality standard that was used from one organization is different from other for this reason it is better to apply the software metrics to measure the quality of software. Attributes that we gathered from source code through software metrics can be an input for software defect predictor. Software defect are an error that are introduced by software developer and stakeholders. Finally, in this study we discovered the application of machine learning on software defect that we gathered from the previous research works.

The new learning scenarios resulting from technological development and in particular of Web 2.0 make it necessary to rethink the teaching practices in higher education, namely at the level of assessment strategies aligned with more recent paradigms. The assessment of competences requires an approach where knowledge, abilities, and attitudes are integrated, implying the use of a variety of assessment strategies. What models can anchor this new assessment culture? How can one design an assessment program that guarantees the quality of this new approach? Based on a new theoretical framework for e-assessment in higher education, the authors construct and apply a survey aimed to identify the practices and the perspectives of the teachers, and the experiences and the perspectives of the students in public higher education institutions. In this chapter, the authors present and discuss the results obtained and advance a proposal for teacher training.

In the field of education, students are not only expected to come to college with the reading and writing skills needed to successfully complete their program of study but also to enter the profession upon graduation with the ability to teach the next generation these skills. At the authors' institution of higher education, as with other higher education institutions, the reading and writing skills of incoming freshmen is a concern across the campus. To address this concern, two education faculty members created a reading and writing program. The program would prepare incoming freshmen with skills and strategies they could use to be successful in their college courses, as well as support student transition and retention. The pilot study created will address a concern raised in the literature regarding the under-explored reading research at the college level. To this end, this chapter shares the process involved in teaching the program and the experiences of the first cohort of students enrolled in the program.

The importance of quality instruction in motivating students in higher education cannot be overemphasized. Without quality instruction, students’ motivation to learn recedes. Five focus groups of graduate students aided the data collection for this study. More than one-third of the 119 participating graduate students involved in this study claimed that quality of instruction was the raison d’être for their motivation in higher education. The implications of quality instruction for practice (i.e., andragogical competency, adequate preparation and organization, content and currency of knowledge, technological competency, resourcefulness, and dispositional attributes), institutional policy, and further research are also discussed.

Introduction. One of the most important components of the student-centered education concept is to give higher education students the right to independent- ly choose a certain part of the academic disciplines of the educational program, i.e. to implement their individual educational trajectory. Today, there are seven types of models for implementing the individual educational trajectory of a higher education seeker. However, the question remains which model to choose when creating an educational program. Purpose. Critical analysis of models of realization of individual educational trajectory of a higher education seeker. The methods of logical analysis and a systematic approach are used in the article for critical analysis of mod- els of realization of individual educational trajectory of a higher education seeker Results. The article critically analyzes seven models of implementation of individual educational trajectory of a higher education seeker, selected depending on the methodology used to form a variable part of the individual plan: a model that provides a completely free choice of educational components; a model of free choice within a certain set of educational components; a model of choice of educational components in continuous blocks; a model that provides a combination of free choice and continuous blocks; major-minor model; a model based on the concept of "mobility window", as well as a model that provides a combination of the above models. Examples of formation of individual educational trajectory with application of these models are given. Their main advantages and dis- advantages are identified. Conclusion. It is proved that there is no "universal" model of implementation of the principle of selectivity, which would be the most effective for all possible educa- tional programs. When designing each educational program, it is necessary to justify the choice of the model according to which the seeker will make the choice of disciplines. This choice will be different in each case depending on the characteristics of the industry, specialty, the available capabilities of the institution of higher education, in particular in the direction of international cooperation and so on. At the same time, the main criterion for choosing a model for implementing the principle of selectivity should be the quality of training, its competitiveness in the labor market and compliance with the principles of student-centered approach
