We would like to thank our past and present editorial and production teams and our authors for cooperation in 2020. Despite of COVID-19 challenges in 2020, our journal has recently received acceptations to the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and in processing to Ulrichsweb & Ulrichs Periodicals Directory. The Proceedings of Shevchenko Scientific Society. Medical Sciences obtains manuscripts over the world [1-8]. The decision on their publications is based on potentially influential contents of interest to Ukrainian and other medical and healthcare professionals, scientists and medical students after successful critical peer review [9]. All of the editorial staff of The Proceedings of Shevchenko Scientific Society. Medical Sciences sincerely appreciates the authors’ contributions. Among them, the best corresponding authors (based on download counts of their articles and positive social media attention) are Dr. Sandor Szabo (American University Health Science, CA, USA) and Dr. Natalia Matolinets (Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University, Lviv, Ukraine). In 2020, The Proceedings of Shevchenko Scientific Society. Medical Sciences has put all efforts to upgrade the Journal peer review standards, offering regular educational courses/webinars to advance their editorial credentials to better serve the professional interests of the Journal readers. The Proceedings of Shevchenko Scientific Society. Medical Sciences invited new editorial board members and experts for peer review of the manuscripts in 2020, and some of them received multiple invitations. We honestly appreciate the voluntary contribution of all of the members of the editorial team, executive, and editorial boards of PSSS MS and all reviewers as introduced below. Alexander Aminev was born in 1904 in the village of Pokrovsky, Artyomovsky District, Sverdlovsk Region. From 1914 to 1919, he studied at the men's gymnasium, after the second grade school. Irbitsk. In 1921, Alexander Mikhailovich entered the medical faculty of the Ural University. In 1926, he became an intern at the Proedeutic Surgery Clinic, and then Assistant of the Department of General Surgery of the Medical Faculty of Perm University. In 1935 he was awarded the academic title of candidate of medical sciences. From 1936-1937 years A.M. Aminev worked as a director of the propedeutic surgical clinic, from 1936-1938. - Secretary of the editorial staff of the Works, from 1937 - assistant professor, from 1937 to October 1938. From 1937 he began to study and develop an endoscopic method - peritoneoscopy, for the first time in the USSR Endoscopic liver biopsy, liver wound tamponade and epiploon, removal of a foreign body from the abdominal cavity and dissection of adhesions. In 1938, A.M. Astrakhan was appointed director and at the same time head of the department of faculty surgery at the Astrakhan Medical Institute. In 1940, he received the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences and the title of professor. Since the beginning of World War II, Professor A.M. Aminev was appointed part-time free surgery of the hospital department of the Astrakhan regional health department. In September 1942, he was called up to the front by an army surgeon of the 28th Combined Arms, and then the 5th Panzer Army, and went from Stalingrad to Berlin.In 1945, A.M. Aminev moved to Kuibyshev, where he became head of the department of hospital surgery, headed for almost 40 years. In 1948 he wrote the first in the country monograph on peritoneoscopy on laparoscopy. He became the author of 14 monographs and 265 scientific papers on coloproctology. In 1964 he was awarded the honorary title of Honored Scientist of the RSFSR. In 1969 "Lectures on proctology" were published, they were marked with the Prize for them. N.I. Pirogov, Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR. In the aggregate, A.M. Aminev is the author of 37 monographs and 518 scientific papers. Among his students are 112 candidates and 35 doctors of medical sciences.Alexander Mikhailovich is a member of the Board of Directors of Surgery, a member of the Board of the All-Union and All-Russian Scientific Society, a chairman of the Kuybyshev Regional Scientific Society of Surgery, an honorary member of the international community, and also a co-editor of the journal Gastroenterology, Colon and Rectum Surgery (USA), honorary member 11 scientific surgical societies of the country. He was beaten by a deputy of the regional, city and district Soviets of Workers' Deputies. A.M. Aminev was awarded the Order of Lenin (twice), the October Revolution, the Red Star, World War 1 and 2 degrees, eight medals. Alexander Mikhailovich died on February 11, 1984 and was buried in Kuibyshev, since 1991 - Samara.After the death of the scientist, his name was given. In 2007, in Samara, on Galaktionovskaya Street, where A.M. Aminev, a plaque was opened in his honor.

In the second half of 2021, 2 webinars and a meeting of the editorial team of the journal “Proceedings of the Shevchenko Scientific Society. Medical Sciences ” took place online. These events took place as a continuation of a specially designed program of lectures and masterclasses in English to improve the writing skills of modern high-quality scientific publications. These events were held with the support of Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University, the Shevchenko Scientific Society, the Western Scientific Centre of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and the Council of Scientific Editors of Ukraine. Registered participants had the opportunity to view online broadcasts and recordings of the events at “Рroceedings of the Shevchenko Scientific Society. Medical Sciences” journal Facebook page and Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC40L7KlZ5UU4hrMj_--yqHw). Each registered participant received a certificate with a certain number of points of continuous professional development

The article highlights the contribution of the corresponding member of the |Russian Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR, Professor A.V. Mazurin to the development of the Russian scientific society of pediatricians., Professor A.V. Mazurin was the Chairman of the All-Russian Scientific Society of Pediatricians from the 1987 to 1993, receiving the baton from outstanding pediatricians of our time - academicians A.F. Tour and V.P. Bisyarina. There are discussed origins of the development of pediatric gastroenterology as one of the topical areas of domestic Pediatrics. By developing this direction in difficult years, like many others, A.V. Mazurin paid a lot of attention to preserve and multiply the glorious traditions of Russian pediatric science and practice.

During 2020 a series of lectures and master classes, dedicated to scientific writing in journals indexed by international scientometric databases were held with the support of Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University, the Shevchenko Scientific Society, the Western Scientific Centre of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the events were held using Zoom platform. Also the participants had opportunity to view online broadcasts and recordings of the events at “Рroceedings of the Shevchenko Scientific Society. Medical Sciences” journal Facebook page and Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC40L7KlZ5UU4hrMj_--yqHw). Foreign colleagues-scientists from Great Britain and India, who are expert reviewers of Scopus and Web of science databases became the speakers of these webinars as well as Ukrainian colleagues-scientists. Scientific authors, graduate students, doctoral students, as well as editors of scientific journals of Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University and other medical universities of Ukraine were the target audience of these English-speaking events. Each registered participant received a certificate, providing a certain number of points of continuous professional development.

Traditionally, webinars were held in English, among the invited speakers were Ukrainian and foreign fellow scientists from Great Britain, Croatia, USA, Iran and India

Die mit dem Aufkommen der elektronischen Medien einhergehende Informationsflut hat die Erwartungen an den Dokumentationsdienst (DOKDI) der Schweizerischen Akademie der Medizinischen Wissenschaften verändert: Insbesondere Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) verlangt nicht nur die Beschaffung von Information, sondern auch eine Selektion hinsichtlich Qualität und Relevanz: Die sich aus der klinischen Situation ergebende Frage fordert eine Antwort, die inhaltlich richtig ist und in der konkreten Situation auch weiterhilft. Dem Ideal, sich durch kritische Lektüre der Originalarbeiten ein Bild über die vorhandene Evidenz für die Richtigkeit eines bestimmten Prozederes zu verschaffen, stehen in der Praxis meist Zeitmangel und methodische Schwierigkeiten im Weg; man wird sich deshalb oft auf die durch andere erarbeitete Evidenz abstützen müssen und z.B. die Cochrane Library konsultieren. Der DOKDI engagiert sich sowohl bei der Erarbeitung von systematischen Übersichtsarbeiten als auch bei der Dissemination der gefundenen Evidenz, indem er seine Erfahrung in der Dokumentation mit elektronischen Medien und die entsprechende Infrastruktur zur Verfügung stellt. Als Ergänzung zu diesen Aktivitäten hat die Akademie einen Grant zur Ausbildung von EBM-Tutoren gesprochen. In einem einwöchigen Kurs in Oxford werden Kliniker zu EBM-Tutoren ausgebildet: Dies wird zukünftig ermöglichen, vermehrt EBM-Workshops in der Schweiz durchzuführen.

Introduction   The International Journal of Medical Sciences [IJMS], ISSN 2522-7386, is a peer-reviewed, 3 issues published annually. Authors are invited to submit for publication articles with a wide spectrum of coverage reporting original work, in the fields of medicine, nursery, dentistry, and pharmacy sciences. Review articles are usually by invitation only. However, Review articles of current interest and high standard will be considered. Prospective work should not be back dated. There are also sections for Case Reports, Brief Communication, correspondence and medical news items. Authors should read the editorial policy and publication ethics before submitting their manuscripts. Authors should also use the appropriate reporting guidelines in preparing their manuscripts
