Abstract. We have studied magneto-thermoelectric effects in quantum well in the presence of electromagnetic wave. The analytic expression for Ettingshausen coefficient (EC) in the Quantum Well with parabolic potential (QWPP) in the presence of Electromagnetic wave (EMW) is calculated by using the quantum kinetic equation for electrons. The dependence of EC on the frequency, the amplitude of EMW, the Quantum Well parameters and the temperature are obtained. The results are numerically calculated, plotted, and discussed for GaAs/GaAsAl Quantum Well to clearly show the dependence of EC on above parameters and the results in this case are compared with the case in the bulk semiconductors. We realize that as the temperature increases, the EC decreases. The results show appearance of the Shubnikov–de Haas (SdH) oscillations when we survey the dependence of EC on the magnetic field.  Keywords:  Ettingshausen, Quantum well, Electromagnetic wave, parabolic potential, GaAs/GaAsAl.

Ettingshausen coefficient (EC) in the compositional semiconductor superlattice under the influence of electromagnetic wave (EMW) is surveyed by using the quantum kinetic equation for electrons.  The analytical expressions of the Ettingshausen coefficient are numerically calculated for the GaAs/AlGaAs compositional semiconductor superlattice. It have been showed that the appearance of EMW has changed the EC’s value and the EC decreases nonlinearly when the temperature increases. Studying the dependence of EC on the magnetic field, we discovered that the resonance peaks have appeared and the superlattice period strongly affects the Ettingshausen coefficient.

This paper studies the influence of a strong electromagnetic wave (EMW) on the magneto-thermoelectric effects in a cylindrical quantum wire with an infinite potential (CQWIP) (for electron - optical phonon scattering) under the influence of electric field , magnetic field  and a strong EMW (laser radiation)  (where  and  are amplitude and frequency of EMW, respectively), based on the quantum kinetic equation for electrons. The study obtained the analytic expressions for the kinetic tensors  and the Ettingshausen coefficient (EC) in the CQWIP with the dependence on the frequency, the amplitude of EMW, the Quantum Wire (CQWIP) parameters, the magnetic field and the temperature.  The study results were numerically evaluated and graphed for GaAs/GaAsAl quantum wire. Then, the results in this case were compared with those in the case of the bulk semiconductors and other low-dimension systems in order to show the difference and the novelty of the current results. Moreover, it is realized that as the EMW frequency increases, the EC fluctuates with a stable trend, and the appearance of the Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) oscillations pattern when the dependence of EC on the magnetic field is surveyed.

The Shubnikov – de Haas magnetoresistance oscillations in the Quantum well (QW) under the influence of confined acoustic phonons, The theoretical results show that the conductivity tensor, the complex magnetic impedance of the magnetic field, the frequency, the amplitude of the laser radiation, the QW width, the temperature of the system and especially the quantum index m characterizes the confinement of the phonon. The amplitude of the oscillations of the Shubnikov-de Haas impedance decreases with the increase of the influence of the confined acoustic phonons. The results for bulk phonons in a QW could be achieved, when m goes to zero. We has been compared with other studies when perform the numerical calculations are also achieved for the GaAs/AlGaAs in the QW. Results show that The Shubnikov-de Haas magnetoresistance oscillations amplitude decrease when phonon confinement effect increasing and when width L of the QW increases to a certain value, The Shubnikov – de Haas magnetoresistance oscillations amplitude completely disappears can not be observed.

AbstractThe photoconductivity and its relaxation characteristics in tunneling p – i – n GaAs/AlAs heterostructures under pulsed illumination is studied. Quantum oscillations in the photoconductivity are detected depending on the bias voltage with the period independent of the light wavelength, as well as an oscillating component of the relaxation curves caused by modulation of the recombination rate at the edge of a triangular quantum well in the undoped i layer, as in the case of photoconductivity oscillations. The common nature of oscillations of the steady-state photoconductivity and relaxation curves under pulsed illumination is directly confirmed by the lack of an oscillating component in both types of dependences of some studied p–i–n heterostructures. Simultaneous suppression of the observed oscillations of dependences of both types as the temperature increases to 80 K also confirms the proposed mechanism of their formation. The dependences of these oscillations on the magnetic field and light flux power are studied. Oscillation-amplitude suppression in a magnetic field of ~2 T perpendicular to the current is caused by the effect of the Lorentz force on the ballistic motion of carriers in the triangular-quantum-well region.

The problem of linear conversion of an ordinary polarized electromagnetic wave in a magnetized plasma with density gradient parallel to the magnetic field is considered. An expression for the conversion coefficient as a function of angle of incidence, WKB parameter and magnetic field is obtained. The magnetic field leads to a narrowing of the range of angles of incidence leading to linear conversion, compared with the unmagnetized case.

The effects of a d.c. magnetic field on stimulated Raman sidescatter from laser-produced plasmas is studied. For exact sidescatter along the magnetic field, the Raman instability separates into two distinct decays in which the scattered light is either a right (RHCP) or left (LHCP) circularly polarized electromagnetic wave. Growth rates of the instabilities can be enhanced in the former case but are diminished in the latter. The magnetic field induced effects are greatest near the quarter critical density where frequency shifts can be especially significant, being equal to ± ¼Ωc for decay into RHCP and LHCP waves, respectively.

AbstractWe have studied the Rashba spin-orbital effect on a diluted magnetic semiconductor (DMS) quantum well with parabolic potential in the presence of a magnetic field parallel to the z axis, taking into account the Zeeman coupling and the s-d exchange interaction between the carriers and the magnetic ions. We have obtained an analytical expression for the electron energy spectrum, which depends on the magnetic ion concentration, temperature, and strength of magnetic field. By using the obtained energy spectrum, we calculated the electron effective g*-factor. We have found that effective g*-factor increases when the magnetic field increases; by increasing the strength of spin-orbit interaction, the electron g*-factor decreases and by increasing the temperature, the electron g*-factor increases.
