Ettingshausen coefficient (EC) in the compositional semiconductor superlattice under the influence of electromagnetic wave (EMW) is surveyed by using the quantum kinetic equation for electrons.  The analytical expressions of the Ettingshausen coefficient are numerically calculated for the GaAs/AlGaAs compositional semiconductor superlattice. It have been showed that the appearance of EMW has changed the EC’s value and the EC decreases nonlinearly when the temperature increases. Studying the dependence of EC on the magnetic field, we discovered that the resonance peaks have appeared and the superlattice period strongly affects the Ettingshausen coefficient.

Abstract. We have studied magneto-thermoelectric effects in quantum well in the presence of electromagnetic wave. The analytic expression for Ettingshausen coefficient (EC) in the Quantum Well with parabolic potential (QWPP) in the presence of Electromagnetic wave (EMW) is calculated by using the quantum kinetic equation for electrons. The dependence of EC on the frequency, the amplitude of EMW, the Quantum Well parameters and the temperature are obtained. The results are numerically calculated, plotted, and discussed for GaAs/GaAsAl Quantum Well to clearly show the dependence of EC on above parameters and the results in this case are compared with the case in the bulk semiconductors. We realize that as the temperature increases, the EC decreases. The results show appearance of the Shubnikov–de Haas (SdH) oscillations when we survey the dependence of EC on the magnetic field.  Keywords:  Ettingshausen, Quantum well, Electromagnetic wave, parabolic potential, GaAs/GaAsAl.

By using a quantum kinetic equation for electrons, we studied magneto - thermoelectric effects in the doped semiconductor superlattice (DSSL) under the influence of electromagnetic waves (EMW). In case of the electron - acoustic phonon interaction, we have also figured out analytical expressions of the Ettingshausen coefficient (EC) in DSSL. These expressions are quite different from those which were obtained in the case of bulk semiconductors. The results are numerically calculated for the GaAs:Be/ GaAs:Si DSSL; we found that the EC depends on the characteristic parameters of EMW, temperature and the characteristic parameters of DSSL. The results are consistent with recently experimental observations but the EC is different from that in the bulk semiconductors or bismuth. In addition, the impact of the EMW on the Ettingshausen effect was also discovered. These are latest results which have been studied in terms of Ettingshausen effect in DSSL.

The Hall effect is studied theoretically in a doped semiconductor superlattice (DSSL) subjected to a crossed dc electric field and magnetic field in the presence of an intense electromagnetic wave (EMW). By using the quantum kinetic equation for electrons interacting with acoustic phonons at low temperature, we obtain expressions for the magnetoresistance as well as the Hall coefficient in dependence on the external fields and characteristic parameters of the DSSL. Analytical results are numerically evaluated for the GaAs:Si/GaAs:Be DSSL. The dependence of the magnetoresistance on the magnetic field is consistent with the result obtained for some two-dimensional electron systems. The Hall coefficient depends weakly on the magnetic field and its value in the presence of the EMW is smaller than that of the case without EMW.

This paper studies the influence of a strong electromagnetic wave (EMW) on the magneto-thermoelectric effects in a cylindrical quantum wire with an infinite potential (CQWIP) (for electron - optical phonon scattering) under the influence of electric field , magnetic field  and a strong EMW (laser radiation)  (where  and  are amplitude and frequency of EMW, respectively), based on the quantum kinetic equation for electrons. The study obtained the analytic expressions for the kinetic tensors  and the Ettingshausen coefficient (EC) in the CQWIP with the dependence on the frequency, the amplitude of EMW, the Quantum Wire (CQWIP) parameters, the magnetic field and the temperature.  The study results were numerically evaluated and graphed for GaAs/GaAsAl quantum wire. Then, the results in this case were compared with those in the case of the bulk semiconductors and other low-dimension systems in order to show the difference and the novelty of the current results. Moreover, it is realized that as the EMW frequency increases, the EC fluctuates with a stable trend, and the appearance of the Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) oscillations pattern when the dependence of EC on the magnetic field is surveyed.

The problem of linear conversion of an ordinary polarized electromagnetic wave in a magnetized plasma with density gradient parallel to the magnetic field is considered. An expression for the conversion coefficient as a function of angle of incidence, WKB parameter and magnetic field is obtained. The magnetic field leads to a narrowing of the range of angles of incidence leading to linear conversion, compared with the unmagnetized case.

The effects of a d.c. magnetic field on stimulated Raman sidescatter from laser-produced plasmas is studied. For exact sidescatter along the magnetic field, the Raman instability separates into two distinct decays in which the scattered light is either a right (RHCP) or left (LHCP) circularly polarized electromagnetic wave. Growth rates of the instabilities can be enhanced in the former case but are diminished in the latter. The magnetic field induced effects are greatest near the quarter critical density where frequency shifts can be especially significant, being equal to ± ¼Ωc for decay into RHCP and LHCP waves, respectively.

The dependences of the magnetic absorption by spheroidal metal nanoparticles on the ratio between the particle curvature radii and the angle between the spheroid symmetry axis and the magnetic field vector of an incident electromagnetic wave are plotted and theoretically analyzed. An interesting result of the research is the growth of the energy absorbed by a spheroidal nanoparticle, as it becomes more oblate.
